Why did the Lord give spiritual knowledge to the sun-god when he had already given it to Brahma?

Why the knowledge of BG was given to Vivaswan(Sun god) as he is demigod and though knowledge was given lord Brahma @ beginning of creation? was it given for creating a new sampradaya?
