Question: Does Lord Krishna help devotees when they face challenges in school with teachers, bullying by classmates and friends?

Answer: Yes. Lord Krishna definitely helps anyone who prays to Him because Krishna loves all of us, and He wants to help all of us, and He helps in different ways. So sometimes, He may help us by giving us intelligence of how to deal with the situation; that is the most common way that Krishna helps us. We may sometimes read stories in the scriptures of how Krishna comes miraculously in ways to help His devotees, and Krishna can do that sometimes also, but in general, devotees are humble and they don’t expect or demand Krishna to come miraculously to help. What we understand is that Krishna has given us intelligence for how to deal with situations, and Krishna has also given us loving elders. This is a world where there is good and bad; beyond this world in Krishna’s kingdom, everything is good. But in this world, there is good and bad. So when we are troubled by the bad, we need to turn towards the good. So we have our parents, we have other senior devotees, other elders who love us, care for us, and we should consult them, take their guidance and use our intelligence to deal in such a way that we don’t have to face the problems so much. So if we are facing bullying by friends, then we can plan in such a way that we choose some other friends, and we don’t have to deal with the bullies so much. If we have some teachers who are difficult and demanding,we should understand that actually there are different kinds of people in the world. Just as there are seasons, sometimes it is cold and we may not like it, and sometimes it is warm and we may like it, or otherwise. We understand that in this world there are things which we like and there are things which we do not like. So Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita 2.14, that just as when it becomes cold, we wear a sweater and we move on with life. So we tolerate and we go on. Similarly, when there are difficult people in our life, we don’t have to mix with them more than what is necessary. But whatever is necessary, we tolerate it and we move on and through that, we grow. So we should not expect Krishna to come miraculously in our lives to help us, although He can do that sometimes. Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita 10.10, that He gives intelligence to those who try to serve Him. So if we pray to Krishna for help, then we get intelligence of how to deal with the situation and also we understand that the situation will also go. Even if there is a teacher who is troublesome or some bullies are there, they are not permanently there in my life. I don’t have to give them place in my heart more than what is necessary. Let Krishna stay in my heart and let me think of Krishna and let me be happy. Whenever I face them, there will be some problems, I will deal with them by using my intelligence and especially, we have to understand that Krishna protects us through our elders also. So we take guidance from our elders, our parents, and our other loving eldersabout how to deal with the situation.

Thank you.
