Recently when I visited Remuna, I learnt that the deity of Gopinath there was given by Lord Rama to mother Sita to worship. Is it true? In that case we have an instance of deity of Lord Krsna in the Treta Yuga.

Not all sthala-kathas or sthala-Puranas are equally authentic, that’s why I didn’t quote from any of them. But those Sthala-mahatmayas (glorifications) that are quoted by the acharyas can definitely be used to substantiate the case here.
