If a person despite trying sincerely is still struggling because of past conditionings and he wants to be honest with guru, what should he do?

my question is, if someone is trying sincerely, but becoz of his past conditioning he cannot follow all the rule and regulations & for the mistake what he performs, he always repent for that, but he wants to be honest with guru & gouranga, in this situtaion what he should do?
