    Srimad Bhagavatam – Canto 3

    na yujyamanaya bhaktya
    bhagavaty akhilatmani
    sadrso ‘sti sivah pantha-
    yoginam brahma-siddhaye
na: not; yujyamanaya: being performed; bhaktya: devotional service; bhagavati: towards the Supreme Personality of Godhead; akhila-atmani: the Supersoul; sadrsah: like; asti: there is; sivah: auspicious; panthah: path; yoginam: of the yogis; brahma-siddhaye: for perfection in self-realization.

    TRANSLATION
Perfection in self-realization cannot be attained by any kind of yogi unless he engages in devotional service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, for that is the only auspicious path.

Lord Shiva is absolutely a practical example of yog misrit bhakti ,but it is a very difficult path , it seems only a person on the level of lord shiva by the method of yog misrit bhakti can actually ascend Gloka and enjoy the position of gopis, but we do not have any other examples of other yogi’s who were successful like lord Shiva ,but again after all he is lord Shiva not an ordinary person, we have example of sant Gyaneshwar in maharastra who was a gyan misrit bhakta . But not too many successes in yoga. Why turn your hand around your head to eat the morsel when we can by a simple process directly place it into our mouth -That is bhakti yoga.
