the problem today is that people very much like the idea of religious pluralism and they say there are as many paths to god ,as there are souls on earth . due to this people have created as many paths to god ,as number of speculations possible.
so vaishnavism advocacy of lord vishnu as supreme lord ,and only by devotional service to him ,we can achieve moksha ,is not liked by many hindu spiritual leaders today, since mostly they are impersonalist .some hindu leaders openly preach impersonalism ,whereas some others while speaking bhagavad gita ,rather than talking about krishna ,talk something very abstract and different from the mood of speaker of gita.
the problem is that people don’t want to take any pain for doing austerity ,for knowing the absolute truth . they simply talk .prabhupada once said that ,follow someone ,follow christ, follow buddha ,follow krsna ,but don’t just talk . and when we start following ,we need to take up the process ,by which we can purify ourself. so in the name of excessive religious tolerance ,people especially hindus have become so restless and careless ,that many even don’t care to read bhagavad gita .
