Can spiritual wisdom explain split personality disorder?
So, how can spiritual wisdom explain dual personality disorder? Basically, what happens that firstly, we have three levels of being. There is the soul, the subtle body, which is like the mind, and there is the gross body.
So, soul, mind and body, you could say. There are three levels at which we exist normally. Now, in some cases, in normal cases, what happens? The soul and the subtle body leave this gross body.
Soul and the mind, they basically leave the body and then go to another body. That is the normal way of transmigration happens. But in some cases, the soul leaves this body, but does not get the next body.
That is often especially when a person commits suicide. Then they were meant to live in that body for 60 years, but they committed suicide at the age of 25. So, by their karma, for the next 35 years, they are not going to get any body.
That is called a ghost, which is a disembodied state. So, basically, disembodied state means there is a soul with the subtle body around it, but there is no gross body over there. Now, this soul with the subtle body, actually this ghost basically, the ghosts often live in a suffering state.
They cause suffering to others, but they themselves live in a suffering state because they have desires, but they have no instrument to fulfill desires. So, that soul may desire, I want to eat a gulab jamun, but there is no tongue or mouth to eat gulab jamun. So, like that, basically, they suffer.
Sometimes, for some other souls, if they are weak, then these wandering souls, these ghosts, they may enter into somebody's body and they take control of their body. So, this is the normal person. In this, the possessed person, their consciousness becomes dominated.
They become dormant. And then the possessed person, the possessing ghost, that becomes prominent. So, there are cases when, you know, not only two people, they behave in two different, a person seems to behave in two different moods.
So, that ghost goes into the body? The ghost goes into the body of that other person. Oh, okay. That is called, that's possible, that's called possession.
But that's like accepted in the spiritual level. Possession. Possession means that, basically, the ghost enters into another body.
And when the ghost enters into another body, the ghost can take control of that body. And there are evidences. There is one devotee scientist, Dr. Michael Cremo, he has written a book called Human Devolution, in which he quotes another scientist.
For example, there was a woman who was born and brought up in a village near Nagpur. She had never gone out of that village, that vicinity itself. So, one day, she just woke up and started speaking Bengali.
Fluid Bengali. You know, and nobody could make sense. No, there is no Bengali in the vicinity.
She had never gone to Bengal. And not only was she speaking Bengali, but she was speaking in a different tone, different inflection. Not just her own normal voice.
And that actually went on for 4-5 months. And afterwards, then she came back. Then she started speaking normal.
And she had no awareness of what happened. For us, what happened? It was like waking up for a sleep in which you don't remember what happened. So, in some cases, there is split WL personality disorder, split personality disorder.
That may be because a disembodied soul, a ghost has entered into that person. So, in that case, the person needs to, there are specific processes for exorcising the ghost. The best way, of course, is simply chanting the holy names.
Because these sort of things are like darkness. And God or Krishna is like the supreme light. So, when we invoke, when we chant the holy names, then the ghost gets exorcised.
But this is a philosophical explanation.
