Does the mind have more impressions from the present life than from past lives?
Does the mind have more impressions from our present life? Because most of our thoughts are of our present life? Yes and no.
See the present life's impressions are the most recent. And the most recent often tend to be the most dominant. But even the impressions that we have in this life, they are shaped by the inclination that we have acquired from a previous life.
Say for example, by my past life karma I am born in India. So then I will get mostly impressions based on whatever I am exposed to in India. But then that basic starting point is determined by the past karma.
Now physical location is very easy to understand. But suppose somebody is of a very intellectual nature. Then that basic inclination of the mind is determined by past karma.
And then based on that basic inclination, most of the impressions they will acquire will be based on the books that they read, the material that they read, the intellectual stimulation that they get. So our impressions are, the latest impressions will be quite prominent in our consciousness. But which impressions we choose, they are also determined by our past inclinations.
So the important thing is that whether the impressions are coming from the past or the present, from past life or present life, the important thing is we redirect them towards Krishna. And the more we do that, then the more our inclination of the mind changes.
