Pibamana Sri Krishna Divya Ushadham So, in this beautiful verse, Kulasekhar Maharaj talks about the glory of the holy name by comparing it with a medicine. And he describes the potency of the medicine in various ways. Like sometimes, when a medicine is to be promoted, in the promotional material, maybe on the package, or in the advertisement, he said, this medicine works for this malady, this, this, this, and some medicines work not only for curing the diseases, but they also work for restoring health, for improving health. So, if we are sick, they help us to improve our health, they help us to become free from the sickness. And if we are healthy, they help us to become healthier. So, both these kinds of benefits of medicine will be given in the material that promotes the medicine. Similarly here, Kulasekhar Maharaj gives seven different benefits of the chanting of the holy names. And what he describes here is Vyamoha Prashama Ushadham Vyamoha Prashama Ushadham Aushadh is medicine, Prashama is to pacify, is to calm down, to remove. Vyamoha, Moha is illusion, Vyamoha is the pervasive illusion, that which is Vyaptha, that is widely spread. Prashama, that which is calm down, that which is pacified. Vyamoha Prashama Ushadham We know that there are medicines, which can, or rather there are chemicals, which can affect our brain states, psychedelic we call them. So, mind state, altering medicines. Now, when we take such medicines, at that time, they change the dynamics, when the chemical, electrochemical balances within the brain. That’s how, so how is this illusion pacified? By the chanting of the holy names. Actually, this sort of, changing of the brain states by chemicals, is very superficial. It is only changing the channel, through which our consciousness manifests. It is not changing the consciousness. It’s like, when water comes from a source, the water may be clean, and if we, put some particular color chemical, in the river, then the water that will come out of that river, will be of that particular color. Now, that does not mean that, the water itself has changed, in its source. It is while passing, the water has changed, in its color. So, similarly, consciousness is pure, and consciousness comes from the soul, and psychedelic chemicals, basically change, it at the channel, and thus, the way the consciousness is manifested at the material level, to our perception, it becomes changed. So, a depressed person may start feeling, uplifted. Now, more foundationally, what the holy name does is, it actually, gives us, the opportunity, to, connect with the source, of the source of consciousness. The consciousness, is coming from the source, that is the soul, and the soul, source of the soul is, the supreme. So, chanting, connects us with the source, chanting connects consciousness, with, the source of its source. And, the more strongly, we are grounded in reality, and the firmer the reality is, the lesser is the shaking. So, illusion, is like, being in illusion, is like being, on shaky ground, maybe earthquake prone area, or maybe on a raft, in a river, the ground under us is shaking, but when we come on solid ground, and that too, of huge, very firm, ground which is not earthquake prone, then, we come to, very solid territory. If you are on top of a mountain, there might be a landslide, or there might be some kind of upheavals, but if you are in the, in the plains, and in a non-earthquake prone area, then, the risks are, far far lesser. So, like that, we are all vulnerable to illusions, but, to the extent, we, focus on, trying to connect with Krishna, through the chanting of the holy names, we are going to the reality, that underlies all reality. The soul is the, reality underlying the body, and the supreme, is this, reality underlying all reality, including the soul. So, the more we become grounded in reality, the less we are vulnerable to illusion. And that is how, we can, by the, repeated, utterance of the holy names, by the fervent calling out of Krishna, by chanting his names, by, invoking his presence in our consciousness, through the sound vibration, and through the remembrance, then, the illusion that is there within us, gets dispelled, and we become, firmly, increasingly, deeply, grounded in reality. Thank you.
