Daksha-Shiva conflict 1 – How misconceptions give rise to conflicts – Hindi
Hare Krishna So today and in the next few days, we will be discussing the story of Daksha, Shivji and Dakshinayan Sati. And especially on this topic, we will be discussing how differences arise, how conflicts arise and how they increase. So, I will be using a lot of Upma.
One Upma that I will be using is Dawa Agni. Dawa Agni is what we sing in Sansaar, Dawaan, Mangal Aarti. So it can be a big fire that can burn all the big jungles.
In the corner. Keep it horizontal. So, it can burn like this.
Everything starts there with a spark. So, just like that, there can be big fights among people. They can go on for generations.
Sometimes, if there are fights in a royal family or a royal family, they turn into a war. People die. Hundreds of people die.
It all starts with a spark. And that spark, if we believe in Dawa Agni, the fight that is going on, the struggle that is going on, that spark starts with a misunderstanding. So, misconception or misunderstanding is the cause of all conflict.
So, now, someone will say, in reality, some people are bad. It is necessary to fight them. Yes, that is true.
Some people are bad. Kauravas were bad people. It was necessary to fight them.
It was necessary to fight them, the Pandavas. But even in that, if we look at the root, it was a misunderstanding. What was the misunderstanding? Dhritarashtra had a misunderstanding in his mind that this kingdom should have been mine.
And if it could not be mine, then at least it should have been my son's. And since childhood, he raised Duryodhana in such a way that, you are also going to be the next king. And then, he was ready to do whatever was necessary to become a king.
So, here, we will discuss this topic in four parts. So, in the Bhagavatam, many times, the conversations, the incidents that are told, they start with questions. Now, when we give discourses in the Bhagavatam, it can be done in different ways.
Sometimes, there are such classes that the speakers come and give discourses, and after that, they ask small questions. And sometimes, it happens that the speaker gives a discourse of 10-15 minutes, and after that, you ask questions. If there are no questions, it will end in 10 minutes.
If there are questions, then it can go on for 2-3 hours. So, now, there are two types. In one way, the speaker himself is speaking.
In another way, the listener is asking questions. The Bhagavatam is the third type of discourse. What is the third type? If someone is asking a question, then, usually, if there are questions after the discourse, then, different people ask different questions.
So, each question can go in a different direction. But, in the Bhagavatam, usually, only one person is asking the question. So, there are many speakers, and among them, we can say that one speaker is the best speaker.
As it is said here, the one who is humble, the one who is modest, among them, he is the best. So, there are Suta Goswami and Daini Shalini Rishis. Among those speakers, who is considered the best? Shonat Rishi.
So, all the questions are asked by Shonat Rishi. So, sometimes, in the Bhagavatam, Shonat is said, sometimes, Rishi is said. So, what is its meaning? It is Rishi's discourse.
One person is asking. The meaning is that, while representing the Rishis, Shonat Rishi is asking questions. Similarly, the discussion on Shuktaal, there were many Rishis among them.
There were many Suta Goswamis. But, who was told that story primarily? Saraswati Maharaj. Sometimes, there are such Suta, such devotees, they have many questions.
So, they come to ask those questions. So, these questions are so interesting, so interesting, that other people also come to listen. What will be the answer of the question? So, it is like that.
And now, in Bhagavatam, it is like that, they say nested conversations. There are nested loops in the computer. One has started, the other has ended.
Something else is starting in between. This is, what is it? The external conversation is between Suta Goswami and Shonkata Rishis. In between that, there is a conversation between Shukdev Goswami and Parikshit Maharaj.
In between that, there is a conversation. Now, in which is that? In Vidur and Maitreya. And in that, Vidur is asking questions.
So, it is like that on three levels. In Bhagavatam, it comes at one place. There is such conversation up to six levels.
So, it comes in the seventh level. So, many times it happens that when we read Bhagavatam, we do not understand who is speaking to whom. The whole picture is good.
This is going on. But, the interesting thing is that Bhagavatam shows that at different times, in different conversations, even in different eras, the people who have spoken, their knowledge, their essence, is the same. And in this way, by having many conversations across history, the Bhagavatam illustrates how its message is trans-historical.
That in history, at different places, the people who have spoken, their message is the same. In this way, Bhagavatam shows that this message is not only historical. It is divine.
It is beyond history. It is a spiritual message. This message has been told.
So, when we ask questions, many times, when questions are asked, there can be two types of questions. One can be a question about Tattva Gyan. Why is it like this? Why is it like that? And the second question can be about Leela.
For example, there is a question about Tattva Gyan. Like, Parikshit Maharaj asks, that many times, people after committing a sin, do Prayaschit. But after doing Prayaschit, they go back to the same sin.
So, what is the benefit of doing Prayaschit? So, this is a question of Tattva Gyan. In response to this question of Tattva Gyan, a description of Tattva Gyan is given, and then a description of Leela is given. Now, the second question is about Leela.
Why is it like this? Why is it like that? And then Leela is told, and then a description of Leela is told. So, the situation we are seeing right now, how does it start? On the basis of Leela. So, when it starts on the basis of Leela, then many times, the question arises that about Leela, something is told which is very interesting.
For example, if there is an episode on TV, so, an episode, a part of it ends, then sometimes, it is called cliffhanger ending in English. What does cliffhanger ending mean? That there is a war between the hero and the villain, a fight is going on, and the villain throws the hero from a mountain. And while falling from the mountain, the hero grabs the corner of the mountain.
And then, continue next time. Then the next time will happen. So, what will happen now? The hero will not survive.
How will he survive? How will he get out of this situation? So, there is a lot of enthusiasm. And then, with enthusiasm, they ask questions. So, many times, the storytellers in Bhagavad Gita, they tell one such thing which is very strange.
For example, in the 7th chapter, they tell that in the 7th chapter, it is being discussed at different levels. So, there the discussion is going on about Yudhishthira Maharaj and Narada Muni. So, Narada Muni says there that there was a king named Hiranyakashipu, and he tried to kill his son.
So, immediately, Yudhishthira Maharaj asks a question. Usually, a father tolerates his son a lot. How can a father kill his son? So, please tell me.
Before that, he asks the question that how can someone be killed by Vaikuntha? Please tell me that. So, in Bhagavatam, in the summary of the Leela, the most interesting thing of that Leela is told. And then, the storytellers ask more questions about it.
So, in the last chapter, in the 4th chapter, it is told that Daksha and Sati's Leela is told. In the summary, it is told how Daksha insulted Shivji and committed a crime against him. He had a big struggle.
And in the end, it is told that Sati gave up her body. So, now, as soon as he listens, he asks a question. What question does he ask? Here, he asks two questions.
bhave shilvataam shreshthe That, Bhava, who is Shivji, he is very humble, he is very well-mannered, he does not hate anyone. So, such a person who is shilvataam shreshthe, with dvesha, akarodh ka smaadh How can anyone hate him? And, why did Daksha hate him? And the second question is, daksha duhitra vatsala Daksha used to love his daughter. He loved her.
Then, his anadrutyatmajam sati So, why did he anadrutyam disrespect her? And the third question is aatmajam He loved his own daughter. So, why did he disrespect her? Why did he disrespect her? Here, to emphasise, that he loved his daughter twice. He was duhitra vatsala and she was his aatmajam.
So, the word aatma has different meanings in different contexts. So, the meaning of aatma can also mean body. aatmajam means the one who is born from himself.
panduratmaatmanastasya yenaatmaivaatmanachita Here, the mantra of our mind can be the enemy. The meaning of aatma can also mean god. Sometimes it can be aatma, sometimes it can be god.
ishavasya vidamsarvam This comes in the shloka shloka shloka. Similarly, in the 8th shloka shloka aatmavasya vidamsarvam yathkeenja jagatmyam jagat tena tiptena bhunjeetha maa vrudhakasya svetanam Here, the meanings of the words are not only in a dictionary, not in a dictionary. The meanings of the words are also in context.
So, here, aatma, aatmaja Now, if we see aatma spiritually, it is neither the birth of aatma nor the death of aatma. It is neither the birth of aatma nor the birth of aatma. So, aatmaja if we use this word then this aatma can never be for a jivaatma.
So, aatmaja means that of the body. So, sometimes, aatma is also considered as aatma. Why is it so? The meaning of aatma can be soul in English or self in English.
Now, what is the difference between soul and self? That every person does not consider himself as aatma. So, the person who is conscious considers himself as his body. So, sometimes, the perception of a person and the truth can be different.
So, then aatma can also be considered as aatma. So, these are two main questions. And, let us expand on the meaning of prabhupada shilavatam shreshthi That, Lord Shiva was very dispassionate, very humble, he did not get into much trouble.
So, then, why would anyone have enmity with such a person? It is common here, an important thing is vidvesham. It is common here, why does a person get jealous of someone? Because, that person has something good which we do not have. If a person is very poor, then, if he is a rich person, why would anyone get jealous of him? What is there to get jealous of him? When someone has something which we do not have.
If, suppose, there is a very poor person and he somehow becomes very famous, he gets interviewed on TV, he gets a lot of information about him on social media, he says, why is he so famous? I am so rich, why am I not famous? So, what happens then? That person does not have money, but he gets jealous of him for any reason. Then, due to that jealousy, sometimes, jealousy can happen. So, jealousy is common here.
Another person has something which that person does not have, due to which jealousy happens. But, jealousy does not happen only due to that. For example, if a person has something, he shows it off a lot, and the other person looks at him, due to which he gets jealous.
A person has a lot of wealth, but he has kept that wealth in his bank, his house is very simple, he does not live in luxury. Then, he will get jealous. When someone has a wealth, when that wealth is shown off, then, due to showing off that wealth, jealousy happens in people.
If that wealth is not shown off, then there is no reason for jealousy. So, in the same way, it is told here, that Shri Shivji, Shri Shivji has so much wealth, that he does not even have a house. He lives on Mount Kailash, on top of a mountain, under a tree.
So, why would anyone get jealous of such a person? In Bhagavatam, on the basis of these two questions, this Leela progresses. In Bhagavatam, the Kathas, they come from different 5th Booli. They come in different ages.
Should I wait till the end? So, when we are discussing this, in Bhagavatam, whatever Leela is there, in a way, as I was telling yesterday, there is a reason for a distance. So, the reason for a distance in the Kathas in Bhagavatam, is that, if a listener asks a question, but, Bhagavatam is such that, it is also a structured book. It has a complete structure.
And, every Leela, the ultimate aim of Bhagavatam, is connected to that. What is the ultimate aim of Bhagavatam? What is the ultimate aim? Why was Bhagavatam told? To fulfil the need of Parikshit Maharaj. What was his need? How? To remember Bhagavan.
Now, when death is approaching, then the mind has to concentrate on Bhagavan. So, how should the mind concentrate on Bhagavan? ekāraśita-tasmād-eke namanasa bhagavān sātvata-āmbati Bhagavān sātvata-āmbati To everyone, who is a sadhu, to everyone, to Parikshit Maharaj, how did Bhagavan concentrate his mind? For them, sātsmād-eke namanasa With one thought, he can concentrate his mind on Bhagavan. So, that is the purpose.
Now, we will see that… Some miracles are such miracles that they are the story of God. So, when it is the story of God, then the mind automatically gets attached to God. The whole Dashamskhand is filled with miracles of God.
There are many other places where there are miracles of the incarnations of God. There, the miracle of the incarnations is also the story of God. That is why it is clear that it is the story of God.
But there are some places in Bhagavatam where it is difficult to understand how they are related to God. So, for that, what we have to understand is that the thing that is told, do this thing. It is told in two verses.
The first verse is So, what is this now? It is told that take the name of Hari, take the name of Hari, take the name of Hari. It is told three times. And there is no other way other than this.
But what is told after that? It is told that So, there is no other way other than this. So, if you want to emphasise on something, it is told in both positive and negative ways. This should be done and the opposite should not be done.
So, in Bhagavatam, some stories are told in such a way that what we see, what we should not do. And what should not be done, it is told. Its purpose is that we should learn from those stories that what is the result of doing such things.
So, how does a person improve by remembering God? There are many stories of this. There is the story of Prahlad Maharaj, there is the story of Dhruv Maharaj. There are many leelas of Lord Krishna in Ashwamskand.
But what effect can be there on one who does not remember God? What effect can be there on him? How can he be in danger? Its description is given here. So, now one example can be given like this. There is the story of Ajamel.
Ajamel was a person with great qualities. He was a Brahmin. He lived a Satyug life.
But he was in Satyug. He did not have that much unity in devotion. So, his mind became strange and then he fell down.
But after that he became happy with one word of Harinam. So, how is this story? What is the result of not remembering God? And then how did he become happy by remembering God again? There is a similar story of Bharat Maharaj. He remembered God.
And he was so attached to remembering God that he left the whole world and became one with God. But from there he became corrupted. So, from there what happened after 5 years was told.
In the next channel, in the form of Jad Bharat, how is Pune? He remembered God very carefully and moved ahead. So, what is happening is Parikshit Maharaj is a great devotee. But still to give him a message and to give a message to all of us through him, both the methods are being told in Bhagwatam that how can he be happy by remembering God? How can he be happy by remembering God? If he will pay attention to something other than God, if he will be alert, then what will be the result of that? So, if we see in this Leela of Daksh, then God does not come directly.
In this Leela, in reality, in a way, it is a Leela of Karmakand. At the level of Karmakand, the Daksh Pujapati, how due to his ego, he made a big mistake, and what was the result of that? This is being told. But, in this, it is also told that Shivji is a great devotee.
And the glory of Shivji has been told. And then how Shivji later forgave Daksh. And then the same Daksh comes in the 4th Karma and comes back in the 6th Karma.
And then, it takes a lot of time for the spiritual development of his Daksh. But, the essence of Bhagavatam is that how to go from the Sattva Guna to the Pure Sattva. Panishtha Maharaj is living in the Sattva Guna.
So, how to go from the Sattva Guna to the Pure Sattva. So, how can there be dangers in the life of the Sattva Guna? This is the essence of Bhagavatam. So, there can be a danger in the Sattva Guna that there can be ego on one's spirituality.
Ego on spirituality means how religious I am. Ego on that. Now, in India, in many places, people come to Hanumanji's temple.
Hanumanji is very kind. So, there are not many standards for his worship. So, sometimes people come to his temple.
So, sometimes what people do is they make a huge temple. If they make a temple, then the idol is very big. So, in many people, competition happens.
My Hanuman's idol is 10 feet. I will make it 15 feet. Then someone says, I will make it 25 feet.
I will make it 30 feet. They make it so high. And that idol becomes so big that first they have money.
I will make such a big idol. Then later people say, show this idol to a donkey. This idol is so big.
Then they say, let's not make a temple today. The whole world can see. So, what happens? Now, someone may have such a feeling that everyone can worship Hanumanji.
But some people have such a feeling that I will make such a big temple. In Maharashtra, Ganesh Utsav happens. So, in Ganesh Utsav, many people say that Ganesh has such a big idol.
So, he brings such a big idol. And then Buddha says, I will bring a bigger idol. And everyone brings such a big idol.
Then people say, see, see, see, I have brought such a big idol. So, once there was a big Ganesh Utsav in Pune. I was called there to say something about Vedic culture.
So, when I went there, hundreds of people had come. But that was Ganesh's Pandal. And there, in Ganesh's Pandal, Bollywood songs were playing.
So, I asked them, I asked the founder of the production company, I asked him, this is Ganesh's Utsav. So, why are you not playing Ganesh's Bhajan? Why are you playing Bollywood songs here? So, he gave a very interesting answer. He said, Ganesh is Bhakta Vatsal.
That is fine. But what has that got to do with it? He is Bhakta Vatsal. That means, whatever his devotees like, they like it too.
Now, Bhakta Vatsal is not on this path. Now, yes, God is the most compassionate, the most loving. So, God's love is unconditional.
But unconditional love means, whatever we do, we are loved. Not that, whatever we do is loved. God's love is unbreakable.
God's grace is unbreakable. But unconditional love, unconditional love, without any condition, he loves us. What does that mean? Whatever we do, he will love us.
He will be kind to us. But that doesn't mean, whatever we do, he will love us. These two things are different.
No matter how sinful a person is, God lives in his heart, he loves God. This is the truth. But, if he is a sinner, then God doesn't love his sins.
Ajamil left his family, left his parents, left his wife, he lived a very irresponsible life. Still, God is kind to him. But God doesn't love the person, who has committed a sinful act.
So, what does Bhakta Vatsaliga mean? Whoever has a little bit of devotion, why doesn't he commit any other mistake, he loves God. अपिचीत सुदराचारो भजते मामानन्यभाव। साधुरेवसमन्तव्य सम्यग्वेवसितोहिसः। In Chapter 9, in Chapter 33, God says, no matter how bad a person is, even then, if he is in devotion, he should be considered a great devotee. So, what is God saying? He should be considered a great devotee.
He is saying that his misdeeds should be considered a sin. His misdeed is a misdeed. So, this is why, Bhakta Vatsaliga's meaning is wrong.
But what happens here is, the people who are bringing religion in the form of Ganesha, they are bringing the idol of Ganesha, because it is a big idol, so that other people can worship it. So, if other people want to come there, then if we play Ganesha's Kirtan, not many people will come. If we play in front of Bollywood, more people will come.
So, what is the purpose of doing all this? The purpose of doing all this, is to worship God, So, when we celebrate Diwali, Diwali, mostly, what happens to these people, they don't eat properly, and they play crackers. How many people remember that they went to Manvas and came back from Manvas They forget all this This happens in every religion It was in America Christmas in America For most people, for children It is not about Jesus Christ It is about Santa Claus That Santa Claus will come and give me a gift He will fulfil my wish So whatever is the spiritual level It comes to the physical level very easily People start doing spiritual things on the physical level And forget the spiritual So this is the Leela of Daksha We will discuss the Leela of Daksha in the next episode But we will see what is its 5th land Its feeling is that Daksha was doing the Yagya And he was doing the Yagya to increase his self-respect That I need respect I am such a religious person I am doing such a big Yagya And because his intention was wrong So all, like I said The big fire starts with a small spark So this spark is wrong It is a wrong intention So the wrong intention in Daksha's mind He did not think that The purpose of the Yagya we are doing Is to satisfy Yagyeshwar Vishnu He thought that I have to do the Yagya Because I have to show my glory to the whole world That I am so virtuous I am so rich I can do such a big Yagya And then That is why When he felt that I have done the Yagya Then he could not bear it Because his intention was That I have to show my glory to the whole world So if a person starts doing the Yagya Then no matter how good the Yagya is If the wrong intention does not improve If the wrong intention does not improve Then that small thing And the wrong intention gets bigger It gets bigger and bigger And it can be a very big problem For example, someone is doing Mathematics If the first student does wrong in Mathematics Then whatever he does after that Everything becomes wrong So in Daksha The wrong intention, the ego That ego In the end, he becomes free And considering Shiva as a great devotee He asks for forgiveness He worships Shiva And in this way Daksha also becomes free from ego How does that happen in the future? We will discuss that in the future This was all about Shiva We will see the questions So Today we discussed about Daksha And Shiva's Leela First of all, I saw How Bhagavatam Is not like An ordinary discourse It is actually A discourse of question and answer In that, one person Asks all the questions And in different incidents of history Different questions are asked And on the basis of questions Bhagavatam moves forward So some questions are about Tattva Gyan And while discussing Tattva Gyan Some Leelas are told Like Parashit Maharaj How does it benefit from Payashayt Some questions are about Some incidents About Leelas And there The storytellers They give a glimpse of the story Like click, fire and learning They tell something very interesting And then the question is asked So here On the basis of which questions are being asked There are two big things The person who is very Shilvatam, who has no pride Why is he showing his ego Shiva Ji says He is very Shilvatam Why did Daksha do this And the father Who loves his daughter Like his own daughter Then Why did he Disrespect her so much That his daughter gave up her body So these are the two questions The answers to these questions Will be given in the story All the stories in Bhagavatam Their purpose is That we should put our mind in God So it is taught in two ways What is the importance of putting our mind in God How can we get rid of it And the second is If we don't put our mind in God And put our mind in something else How can we get rid of it So Ajamil We put our mind in lust We put our mind in a heroine of Bharat Maharaj Here Daksha's mind Is in his ego So In Bhagavatam How to reach from Satvaguna to Shuddha Satvaguna About that we will know in detail So Daksha is in Satvaguna In Satvaguna also It is not that everyone is very Good and virtuous He is living in Satvaguna But sometimes Sataguna is ego What is that? How virtuous I am, people worship that So in modern society Someone worships Lord Hanuman or Lord Ganesha That can be an ego So What is the meaning of Devotion to God Whatever we do, still God Blesses us Whatever we do, God blesses it There are right and wrong things In this story it is told that Daksha's Wrong belief That he was doing Dharma For his pride That wrong belief Was a spark Like a small spark can Make a big fire Because of that wrong belief There is a big Struggle and conflict So how does it happen And what can we learn from it We will see later Any questions? So Sometimes some people Start jealous of us I don't understand Why they are jealous Then what should we do Is that right? No When it comes And then How we react because of that We don't react And then how to work on it So how do we work on it Okay So if someone is jealous of us And We don't know why Then what should we do In that jealousy We say something It is not good So how to avoid it What is it Normally This is the nature Of this material world That No interaction Means negative perception If we are not Talking to anyone Then It is not like I am in my world You are in yours If we are In presence Then why this person Is not talking to us Why he is alone So Normally Negative perception So Relationship is like a tree First we have to give A lot of water Then we don't have to give A lot of water But Our relationship is like If we In relationship If we If we don't do it Positively Then Relationship Goes in negative direction It is not necessary But it is Nature of time Like No one will take care of a tree Some trees Grow on their own And some We have to take care of them So Some relationships We meet once in a year But when we meet It is good But There is no Negative perception There is But There is no possibility of Negative perception Because no one is telling About us But when we are with someone If we don't talk to them Then others talk about us Or they talk about us And others Don't know about us So So If If we see If we have Negative thoughts Then What should we do If we don't know Why it is happening Then Sometimes It is very difficult To understand Sometimes When we are cleaning There is some garbage From where it came It came from window Or door Or shoes If it is coming again and again Then we find it But when garbage comes We don't find it We take it out So If we find It is very difficult to find So If we don't pay attention Then it will decrease But if it comes again and again Then we have to think And generally We can't take out Like if we Have a computer or phone If we have downloaded a file And it is a bad file We don't want it So we can delete it But in our mind There is no delete button We don't want it So forget it We can't forget it But what we can do If we think about other things Then this thought Will go away So if A devotee is jealous Then we Consciously Consciously We can think positively about him In our mind We can praise him Or we can tell others About him Even though we are feeling Jealous about him But we can think About his good qualities And show With a desire That I Want to think good about him I want to speak good about him And we can speak positively about him Or the devotees Who Praise him By talking to them I feel that these devotees Are like this But these devotees Respect them so much So we can talk to them Sometimes In English We call it echo chamber What does echo chamber mean? That I am saying something And around me There is a Glass Wall So my voice Doesn't go out Only my voice comes back So the other one is saying something So I can't hear the glass wall Only I can hear what I am saying So such people Sometimes we Live in our own echo chamber What does it mean? That I have an opinion And then I Talk to those devotees Who support my opinion Then I think that this devotee is very bad And then The other one says that he is very bad And we both agree That he did this to me And then There can't be anything good in that devotee We don't see anything good in him So that's why we live in echo chamber So that's why It is very important for us To come out of that echo chamber Now it is possible That there can be some mistakes And if it is a very serious thing Then we have to do something about it But if you are telling That we don't know Then we can do these three things We can see positive qualities about them We can Learn from each other And those who support them By listening to them Then we can know about their qualities Ok Thank you Yes Thank you very much Pranthraj Shri Madhavakam ki Shri Prabhupada ki Gaura Bhakta Vrindaki Gaura Vrindaki.
