Hare Krishna. Bhagavad Gita 18.76 Sanjay is speaking here and this is the last verses of the Bhagavad Gita. Sanjay starts speaking from 74 and here it says Rajan Samspritya Samspritya Samvadam in Madhbutam Keshavarjunayopunyam Vishyamichamuhurmuhum He is glorifying this conversation in different ways and now he is saying that Rajan Samspritya Samspritya I am remembering it again and again that memory is rising within my heart Samvadam in Madhbutam It is a wondrous conversation Keshavarjunayopunyam and it is very pure, it is very purifying it is about the most exalted subject matter Vishyamichamuhurmuhum and remembering it I am feeling thrilled at every moment So in this verse or rather in this series of verses the effect of hearing the Bhagavad Gita with a submissive heart is demonstrated The Bhagavad Gita was spoken to Arjuna and Arjuna who was distressed became composed Arjuna who was confused became determined Arjuna who was full of doubts became free from doubts That was the effect of speaking the Gita on Arjuna The same Gita was heard by Sanjay and conveyed by Sanjay to Dhritarashtra So what is the effect of hearing the Gita on Sanjay that is described here and here he says that by hearing this the recollection is rising again and again in my heart Rajan samsmitya samsmitya So here we use two characteristics of the conversation and two results of the conversation Two characteristics are adbhutam and punyam samvadham adbhutam this wondrous conversation and very pious conversation very purifying very astonishing conversation The purifying and astonishing conversation brings spontaneous recollection and leads to spontaneous recollection and thrill So vishamicham that is the last word Now if we see something we see many things in life, we hear many things in life but some things just stay in our memory some things we have to memorize we have to read them again and again and only by such repeated reading do they get memorized for us and when they are memorized then we can do them more and more but in contrast where we have this understanding that there is no such thing as pure focus on Krishna there is no such a understanding that when sometimes we hear the Bhagavad Gita, we have to memorize the verses again and again and again then we will remember them that’s because our heart is not yet ready just like when fire is lit if soil is when the stick is the stick is wet then it does not catch fire if the stick however is dry it catches fire immediately when we brought in contact with that fire similarly Sanjay’s heart was receptive and on hearing the Gita spontaneous recollection started rising within his heart we sometimes watch a movie and there are depending on what we like if we like action scenes then those action scenes spontaneously arise within us spontaneously we feel attracted by those action scenes and spontaneously they start replaying within us if we like a particular sports if we like a cricket cricket match then whatever cricket special events happen in the cricket match exciting cricket match then those special events the way somebody got clean bowled the way somebody hit a sixer those events arise spontaneously within our heart for us if our heart is receptive then the remembrance of the Bhagavad Gita will also arise spontaneously in our heart of course if it does not arise spontaneously then we have to seek it conscientiously so spontaneous means without any effort it happens conscientious means we make effort to make it happen when water when floor is inclined in a particular way water naturally flows downstream boat in a water naturally flows in the downward direction where the floor is inclined a boat in a river naturally flows downstream if the boat has to flow upstream then conscientious effort is required similarly for us presently our heart is inclined towards the world and that’s why our consciousness naturally flows towards worldly objects and if we see some worldly stimuli they get impressed within us and they arise spontaneously within us on the other hand if by the steady practice of bhakti our heart will become inclined towards Krishna then Krishna centered stimuli will arise in our heart and when they arise in our hearts at that time that is what we will recollect that is what we will happily and naturally remember and thus we will move towards Krishna this is happening to Sanjaya and that’s why Rajan, Sam Smritya, Sam Smritya again and again I am remembering that and as I am remembering this one this astonishing and purifying conversation the result is I am feeling thrilled at every moment I am feeling the kind of ecstasy that I have hardly ever felt I am feeling a sublime fulfillment it’s just as suppose we go to a very cold place then it seemed as if currents of cold are entering into our body and they are pervading our body that’s of course a very unpleasant sensation but the idea of a current is what is relevant for us similarly currents of ecstasy will flow into our body and through our body through our minds, through our hearts will permeate our entire being when we remember Krishna’s message in the Bhagavad Gita when we remember how much Krishna loves every one of us how much Krishna is eager for us to be reunited with him then then that will spontaneously cause our heart to become attracted to Krishna just the words of the Gita are permeated with Krishna’s affection Krishna’s wisdom and they are capable of bringing about an extraordinary transformation in our hearts and in our life so just as Sanjay is thrilled by the spontaneous recollection of Krishna’s message similarly if we too keep purifying our heart by hearing the Gita gradually our heart too will become permeated with affection for Krishna and then the spontaneous recollection and currents of thrill will surcharge our entire being also thank you
