Are Krishna’s feelings like our feelings or different from our feelings?
Very difficult to Okay So Krishna’s emotions can also appear to be Like material emotions and if you say Krishna’s emotions are spiritual what does it mean actually Okay There is the concept of bhed And there is the concept of abhed Bhed is difference Abhed is non difference So when we are Talking about Krishna Krishna We have to know when to stress bhed And when to stress abhed So at one level The Bhagavatam reveals God To be a person And he performs Activities just like us He has a mother He drinks his mother’s milk He runs away from his mother when he is scared And his mother ties him up And He has a job He goes out to herd the cows So Krishna He is just like us So in that sense the Bhagavatam Offers us a very personal Picture of God And that is When to attract our hearts So when the abhed Aspect is being stressed At that point The point is to attract the heart So we can say that there are Two distinct aspects of God There is his greatness and there is his sweetness So his Sweetness Stimulates Affection Knowledge of his Sweetness stimulates affection within our hearts And knowledge Of his greatness Stimulates submission He is so great I have to submit to him So the bhed aspect Is to be stressed When The submission is to be conveyed So The Monistic understanding of Spirituality is that we become one with God That we are Brahma The Bhagavan is also Brahma So we will become one with Brahma But whereas the Jiva Goswami analyzes This in Sandarbhas That the difference between the way the Monists study philosophy and the Monists study philosophy to understand Jiva, Aishwarya, Ekatva The oneness of The Jiva and the Absolute But The Bhaktas Study philosophy to understand Ishwara Mahima To understand the glory of Ishwara To understand that he is So infinite, he is so glorious That actually We are so tiny In front of him So the bhed Aspect is what we stress When we are studying the philosophy So that we understand Krishna’s greatness So you could say in a sense The Bhagavad Gita talks about Krishna’s Greatness, the Bhagavatam also many sections talk about Krishna’s Greatness. Tenth Canto Talks about his sweetness, but even while Talking about his sweetness, in between his greatness Is stressed. He is Just a sweet boy who is Running around, is tied by his mother But then while he is tied by his mother He brings down two giant Trees So basically if you understand That we have to develop a relationship With Krishna and we have to help others develop a relationship With Krishna, then We will be able to stress The appropriate emotion At the appropriate time So are Krishna’s Emotions just like ours? Well yes Krishna is a person In that sense we can approach Him and we can understand him By seeing that we are Parts of him, so he is just like us But Are Krishna’s emotions just like ours? No, our emotions are Body centered, our emotions Are selfish Krishna’s emotions are not body centered They are spiritual Krishna doesn’t have a material body And Krishna doesn’t care about the material body So Basically we could Define material and spiritual In functional terms As material is that Which takes us away from Krishna Spiritual is that which takes us towards Krishna So is Krishna’s Attraction towards The Gopis just like a man’s Attraction towards a woman? No, actually A man’s attraction towards a woman Is like Krishna’s Attraction towards the Gopis But in a distorted way This world is like a reflection of the spiritual world So we have to Stress that Krishna Is a person Who is simply Concerned about Uplifting others What is serving others Bhakti Sankar says that Krishna is dedicated To those who are dedicated to him Krishna is dedicated to serve Those who are dedicated to serve him And that is demonstrated in Krishna’s becoming the charioteer For Arjuna He is the greatest of warriors, the greatest of kings He is the god of all gods Then he becomes a charioteer So we have to If people start thinking of Krishna’s emotions to be ordinary Then we have to stress That Krishna is not Driven by the same Contaminating desire that we have Krishna has no lust, anger, greed, envy, pride, illusion So then When he seems to become angry When he seems to become When he exhibits emotions, what are they? They are actually exhibits of his transcendental nature Meant to intensify Loving reciprocation So It’s like The world, this world is like a reflected mango tree And Krishna is like the original mango tree There is similarity This mango is like that mango No, actually this mango is a reflection of that mango But he won’t get the real mango here He will get the real mango there So The emotions are similar But they are different also So these emotions which we experience in the material level They will take us deeper and deeper Into illusion and entanglement The emotions experienced by Krishna And emotions experienced in relationship with Krishna Will take us out of illusion And will take us towards liberation Okay, thank you
