Now, why does God take avatars? Different reasons have been told about this. The famous shloka in Bhagavad Gita tells us why God takes avatars. paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtāṁ dharma-saṁsthāpanārthāya sambhavāmi yuge yuge When there is a need for dharma, God takes avatars.
Now, this is definitely an important reason. But we will see that it was true that God came thousands of years ago. Then this was dharma and He established dharma.
The only thing that doesn't change in this world is that the world changes. It is said that paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtāṁ God makes those who are suitable for dharma more powerful. He protects them.
He strengthens them. And God makes those who are suitable for dharma weaker. He destroys them.
So, dharma and adharma are not two types of people. Some are religious and some are non-religious. In reality, dharma and adharma are in every person's heart.
The line between good and evil runs through every human heart. Some are religious and some are non-religious. So, God has a historical purpose that those who are more religious are called religious.
Those who are more non-religious are called non-religious. So, they make religious people more powerful. But apart from this, God has a permanent purpose.
And God says this in the next shloka. In the ninth shloka of the fourth chapter. janma karma ca me divyaṁ evaṁ yo vetti tattvatah tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti mām eti sa arjuna It is said that if you listen to my leelas and understand my leelas, then you will be attracted to me.
And when you are attracted to them, then the religious tendencies in our heart are strengthened. And the non-religious tendencies are suppressed. So, in this way, God has a purpose that at one point in history, he establishes dharma in this material world.
But God's eternal purpose is that he wants to establish dharma in our hearts. And how does he establish dharma? By developing rasa in our hearts. Now, what is the meaning of the word rasa? Before coming to bhakti, we must have heard the word rasa, that there is mango juice or sugarcane juice.
In that context, we must have heard the word rasa. But what does rasa mean? What happens when there is a juice? It is tasty, it is pleasant, and it gives pleasure. In the same way, what happens in rasa or bhakti? It is the flow of emotions.
It is pleasant. And we all do different things What do the advertisements do? What do they do? They attract us emotionally. This is so good, buy this.
Buy this, you will like it very much. So, the emotions that attract us to the material world and make us fall in love, God takes the avatar and shows us his plays. And by listening to those plays, we get immersed in those plays, we become lean, our consciousness becomes lean.
Then what happens? Divine emotions arise from it. And to the extent that the divine emotions arise, the material emotions, the material lusts, all that goes away. So, the avatar of God is there so that we all get the rasa in our hearts.
So, now I will discuss about one play related to the avatar of God and how rasa arises in it. And especially, I said how Krishna is the rasa king. So, every avatar of God arouses rasa in one way.
But Krishna is the rasa king. He arouses and develops different types of rasa. Now, Lord Ramachandra is the famous avatar of God.
But Lord Ramachandra does not describe much about his childhood play. So, there is a lot of description about Krishna's childhood play. So, in Krishna's play, different types of rasa arise in a lot of quantity which are not there in Ram Leela.
So, we will compare Ram Leela and Krishna Leela in one instance. Vishwacharya Thakur later mentions that when Krishna was incarnated, after that, when Krishna was incarnated, Devaki and Vasudev were astonished. What kind of a child has been born? He is a clever boy and he is decorated with different ornaments, different clothes.
So, they prayed to him. But this feeling of consolation is such that Yajnapeet, no matter how much a small child is born, as soon as he is born, the adults feel a protective feeling in their mind. A feeling of protection.
So, once I was in Chicago airport. I went there and stayed there that some devotees will come and pick me up. So, normally whenever I go, I talk to them on phone.
But when they enter a country for the first time, I do not have the sim of that country. So, they cannot contact me. So, there is a little uncertainty as to where they will come and where they will meet.
So, I was staying there and I was seeing that there were two children. One was about 3 years old and the other was about 5-6 years old. Actually, she was a girl.
So, what happened was that their parents were lost or their parents were lost. Whatever it is. Basically, they did not have their parents.
So, what happened was that both the children were 3 years old. But the 3 year old was crying and the 6 year old was trying to calm her down. So, what happened was that the 6 year old was still young and she was lost.
So, she was scared. But she said that I have to take care of her. So, what happens is that a small child has a sense of security in anyone's mind.
In the same way, when we see Vasudeva and Devaki Krishna, they see that he is God, but still he is in the form of a child. So, they have a sense of security. And when the sense of security awakens in them, then Devaki Krishna says that O Krishna, how can I hide you? If you are in the form of a child, then at least he will understand that you are the one who has come to kill him.
So, you please hide this 4-eyed form of yours. Hide it. So, Krishna, as per his wish, takes his 2-eyed form.
He takes the form of a completely innocent child. So, when God takes the form, when does it happen? When he is very arrogant, very very arrogant. So, the situation is like this.
So, what happens after that? Then Krishna says to Vasudeva that you please take me from here to Vrindavan. Take me to Vrindavan. Then immediately Vasudeva picks up Krishna.
And then in the form of a miracle, there Krishna somehow adapts to the situation. He is a guard. He sleeps.
He is not an irresponsible guard. He sleeps like this. Now, at least he knows how important he is.
At least he knows how insolent he is. But, all this happens due to the influence of Krishna's yoga maya. And then the doors of the prison open.
Then Vasudeva finds Krishna alone at night. And then he comes to Jamuna. Now, here also, Vishwanath Chakraborty mentions this and then Acharya Gana further elaborates that here also, there is a situation of crossing a river or a waterfall.
And in Ramlila also, there is a situation of crossing a waterfall. Which is there in Ramlila? Yes, crossing the sea. And it comes twice in Ramlila.
First is, Hanuman has to cross. So, Hanuman jumps and goes. And here, after that, all monkeys have to go with Ram.
So, the waterfall has to be crossed twice. So, this is the situation of crossing the waterfall. How is it done? And in that, how Krishna experiences the pleasure? We will discuss how Vasudev experiences pleasure in this situation and how we can also experience So, I will discuss four topics.
It will be based on an acronym RASA. So, what is the meaning of RASA? It is the experience of divine feelings in connection with God. And what are the feelings associated with God? So, there is one.
First is, R is RISK. That what was the danger? So, now, in Ramlila, first, when Hanuman jumps alone, there is a lot of danger. But there is not so much danger because Ravana is a little complacent.
He thinks, what is Ram going to do? But a single monkey comes and destroys him. Then he becomes a little complacent. Then also he thinks, a monkey has come, but how will the whole army come? Then, when all the monkeys have to go to the sea, then what do they do? First, Lord Ramchandra prays to the sea to give him a way.
But the sea does not listen to him. Then, Lord Ramchandra gets angry and puts his bow towards the sea. The whole army of the sea gets destroyed.
Then, the sea god comes there and says, I cannot give you a way because it is my nature that I get influenced. But you make a bridge and I will support it from below. Then, all the monkeys start making the bridge.
And then, when they are making the bridge, then what happens? Now, Ravana becomes a little alert. So, Ravana thinks that as soon as the bridge will be made, I will tell my demons that as soon as the bridge will reach Lanka, I will destroy it. Now, Lord Ramchandra also knows this.
So, as soon as the bridge is being made, some monkeys go to different places and those monkeys have to bring big mountains. But Lord Ramchandra gives some monkeys this service that you protect this bridge. And there are different services.
In some services, there is a lot of activity. You have to run here and there. Then you feel that you have to do some service.
But in some services, in most of the time, there is no activity. But in some, there is a lot of activity. So, when there is a service to protect the bridge, they are sitting in one place.
But at any time, there can be an attack. So, you have to be very careful. Actually, there is a devotee who is my friend.
I had gone to Delhi for a camp. He had come from Kashmir. He is in Kashmir.
He is in defense. He says that when there is actually action, there is not so much anxiety. Because actually, you have to work.
But when there is no action, there is more action of mind. This will happen, that will happen, that will happen, that will happen. So, now, the monkeys who are being served, some monkeys have to bring stones from big mountains.
Some monkeys have to protect the bridge. Now, there, there is a risk. There is a risk.
Now, what is the risk in Krishna Leela? Now, Kamsa is very cruel. Now, how cruel he is, how cruel he is, we can imagine that. We can imagine that through some incidents.
It is very simple. When there is a crime, then in the quantity of crime, the government comes in that quantity. If there is a small theft, then if you book in the police, then maybe a constable will come to check what has happened.
If there is a big fire in the city, then maybe the police inspector will come there. But, if there is a big terrorist attack, and it has blown up the Vidhan Sabha of India, or it has blown up a big building, then what happens, the Prime Minister of India will come there. So, the bigger the danger, the bigger the person will come there to take revenge.
So, Kamsa is a very big demon. And, if we want to understand its demons, then we have to go in front of Kamsa, to take revenge of Kamsa, which Vasudev was doing. He was going alone at night.
Some guards were sleeping. Is there any guard? Someone will come and catch him. The fear there was too much.
Because, Kamsa was very cruel. We can see two types of measure of cruelty. First, a person's character is seen through their limits.
Now, it is easy for us to behave well in ordinary situations. But, when someone provokes us, then to what extent the person will go, we can understand his character. Everyone gets angry.
But, if someone gets angry, then he will say some words in anger. If someone gets angry, then he will not only say words, he will also abuse in anger. If someone gets angry, then he will pick up something and hit someone.
If someone gets angry, then he will pick up a knife and attack someone. If someone gets angry, he will pick up a gun. So, everyone gets angry.
But, to what extent a person can go in anger, that is his limit. And, it is limit of all of us. In our life, there is lust and anger.
Lust and anger. If there is some opposition, then what do we do in that? So, lust and anger are both there. Now, when Devaki is getting married, a charioteer is made.
And, we can say that when the charioteer is made, then what is he doing? Suddenly, this Akashmani comes. He says, I am a fool. His 8th womb will be the cause of your destruction, of your death.
So, immediately, the whole thing changes. So, what happens? He grabs his hair and picks up his sword to cut his head. So, now, an ordinary cultured person, among the cultured family and cultured people, no person ever raises his hand on a woman.
But, he is not only raising his hand on a woman, he is also picking up his sword to kill her. This is what we can say that this is cruelty. But, she is not an ordinary woman.
She is his own sister. A person, a brother-sister relationship is such that a brother can even give his life for his sister's safety. But, here, he is taking his life.
So, if we say in terms of math, this is not just cruelty, this is cruelty square. That this cruelty is double. That he is not only trying to kill his wife, he is also trying to kill his sister.
And, not only is he trying to kill his sister, when is he doing it? At the time of her marriage. Marriage is an event of happiness. And, if there is any problem, then we say, let her get married, we will talk about it later.
If someone has a loan, and wants to return it, we say, let her get married, we will talk about it later. So, what is it? At the time of marriage, which is a holy event, he is trying to kill someone. So, what is this? This is not only cruelty, this is double of cruelty.
This is cruelty cube. And, here, one incident is a symbol. As I told you, a person's character is seen through his limitations.
A person's character is seen To what extent can a person go? So, Kamsa, who was so cruel, he came to kill his own sister. And, this is so much cruelty, and he is not just an ordinary person, he is a king. He is very powerful.
So, that is why, there is such an event, that Krishna himself has to take avatar. He is such a terrifying person. In the cultural terms of those times, Kamsa's attack on Devaki was like a 9-11 attack on America in today's times.
He is so destructive, so dangerous, so unimaginable. Can anyone do this? So, Kamsa was very cruel. And, not only this, many times this question arises that if Kamsa was afraid that Devaki's eighth child would kill him, then he had a simple solution for this.
That is, keep Vasudev and Devaki apart. So, why didn't he do this? So, the first thing is that Krishna's birth was not due to a man and a woman coming together. But, the second reason was that Kamsa was actually arrogant.
Kamsa had defeated the deities earlier. The deities, who are very powerful, who are ordinary, whom people pray for protection, they were all afraid of Kamsa. And, Kamsa also had such arrogance that he was thinking that I have defeated the powers of the deities earlier and now, I will defeat the words of the deities.
Who has done the Akashvani? The deities have done it. So, if I can defeat the Akashvani of the deities, then what will happen? Then, people will lose faith in the deities. And then, my kingdom will become more powerful.
How does it happen? Any king, for him, justice should not just be done, justice should be seen to be done. Not only justice should be done, but justice should be seen. If there is a king, not only he should be powerful, his power should be seen.
Then, what happens? There is a little fear. The rulers are in control. So, Kamsa's plan was that if he will prove the Akashvani of the deities wrong, then what will happen? People will lose faith in the deities.
And then, my power will become more powerful. So, what did he do? He kept Vasudeva and Devaki together in Karagraha. But, even in this, his cruelty can be seen again.
As I told you earlier, a small child, especially a young child, any person has a feeling of loving, protecting him. But, what did Kamsa do? As soon as Devaki's son was born, he killed her. So, it is very cruel to kill anyone.
But, to kill a young child is very cruel. And, not only he is killing a young child. As I told you earlier, cruelty is threefold.
The same cruelty can be seen again. To kill a child is cruelty. But, how was he killing the child? He was killing in such a way that he actually took the child and placed a stone in Karagraha and hit his head on that stone.
When I was in America, some people came from Bosnia and became Bhagas. They told me that there was a big genocide in Europe. Genocide means many people were killed.
So, what was the system of killing there? The soldiers of other states used to attack. First, they used to go to any village or city and bring everyone at gunpoint. Then, they used to separate all the women in front of their parents.
First, they used to shoot in children's brains. Then, they used to separate all the women in front of their parents. Then, they used to misbehave with them and kill them in front of their husbands and brothers.
After that, they used to kill men. So, this cruelty is like an animal. Not only you have to kill others, but you have to kill them in such a way that they will suffer as much as possible.
For example, if a child is dying, how much he will suffer? It is better that I die first, and then his wife or daughter who is misbehaving with him. It will be very painful to see that. So, there are many instances of cruelty At least, there is this kind of cruelty that he is not only killing the child, but he is killing in front of Vasudev and Devaki.
He is killing in front of Vasudev So, this cruelty is triple. It is triple cruelty. So, this kind of cruelty was there in Kamsa.
Now, what is happening against that Kamsa? Vasudev is going. He had promised Kamsa that he will give his son to him. But when Krishna told him, he said that you take me to Vrindavan, then he is obeying Krishna's words.
Here, Vasudev is showing that it is a dharma to speak truth and respect your words. But for God, he is ready So, he is going like this. It is very dangerous.
It is very dangerous, because there is a lot of worry. And what happens is that we say that we need absorption in God. Absorption means that we have to concentrate our consciousness fully.
So, few things bring as much absorption as anxiety. When we have worry, the concentration that comes from worry can't be compared When we have worry, we are thinking about it. So, Vasudev is taking Krishna on his head.
On his head, different Acharyas tell different things. Some say that he is taking Krishna on his shoulder, in front of his chest. But when he enters the river, the water of Yamuna starts to rise, then he puts Krishna on his head.
Some say that he has a basket. What is basket in Hindi? It is a basket. In which he has kept Krishna.
Now, Vasudev is taking Krishna on his head. This is the supreme symbol of service attitude. This is a symbol of service attitude.
For the service of he takes a lot of risk. Now, we compare Not only Ram crossed Jalasha, not only Vasudev crossed Jalasha, Shri Prabhupada also crossed Jalasha. Shri Prabhupada went to Jaladut.
Shri Prabhupada was not taking anything physically on his head, but he was taking his Bhagavatam. And for Shri Prabhupada also there was a risk, physically there was a risk, because he was old, he was going alone, he had a heart attack, and along with that what is going to happen there, will he get some vegetarian food or not, he did not know. So, it was a big risk, but Shri Prabhupada was accepting it.
And when we take risk for the service of God, then it gives a different kind of experience. In that, God says जयोस्मि विवसायोस्मि in the 10th chapter, that I am victory and I am adventure. Adventure means the risk that we take, in that in the service of God, there is a special kind of risk.
So, we are discussing about risk. So, R is risk. Then A is atmosphere.
Now, when Shri Ramchandra is making the Poor, what is happening there? What was the atmosphere there? The atmosphere was that all the monkeys were having a kind of victory and it was an atmosphere of joy, an atmosphere of excitement that now we all are going to bring Sita back Now, Shri Ramchandra was going to bring Sita. Vasudev was going to keep Krishna. In a way, the work is to bring someone and to keep someone there.
But the form of the work is different. But the purpose is that there is the service of God. So, contrary to this, when Vasudev is taking Krishna, what was the atmosphere there? It was night.
It was not only night, it was a stormy night. And the storm was increasing so much there, like the storm was increasing, in Jamuna, first they came in front of Jamuna. Now Vasudev was living there for a long time.
So, he knew that if they cross Jamuna, then from where can they cross easily, from where they cannot go. But, where normally someone could cross easily, there also there was so much water, that it was very difficult to cross. Still, Vasudev had faith.
And there was stormy water, stormy waves were coming, lightning was falling in the clouds, and there was lightning and lightning was falling. At that time, he was going alone. So, the atmosphere was getting more dangerous than the atmosphere.
Not only, it is said in theology that there are two kinds of evil. There is moral evil and natural evil. That there is a natural disaster and a human disaster.
So, natural disaster means like there is an atmosphere, like the virus of Corona has come, this is a natural disaster. But, human disaster means that a human being is against him. There is a person who has done a bad deed and has come to destroy So, when Lord Ram was going against Sagar, then Ravan was against him, but there was no natural disaster.
But, when Krishna plays, so, here in Krishna's play, what was there in this play? There was a human disaster in the form of Kamsa, there was a natural disaster in the form of a storm, and still Vasudeva was going alone. Now, Vasudeva was taking Krishna and it was night time and there was no one with him. So, what happens? The more the strength is manifested in the face of opposition.
The more the strength is manifested in the So, suppose there is a small elephant, the elephant is going this way, but the elephant is tied to a tree with a rope, and the elephant sees some attractive things, some food, some female elephant, so, the elephant is going towards it. Now, the elephant does not know its strength, but when an attractive thing comes, then it starts pulling, and then it sees that this is a big tree and it is falling down. So, what happens? When the elephant is going against the tree, then only it comes to know that what is the strength of this elephant.
So, strength is realized internally and expressed externally in the face of opposition. The elephant comes to know how much strength I have, and people come to know how much strength it has. This elephant is small, but it is pulling down such a big tree.
So, in the same way, our devotion is realized internally. We can understand how much devotion we have and expressed externally. That person is outside when there is opposition in our life.
When we are doing service, there is opposition. So, what we do at that time is to show our devotion. So, Vasudev is opposed in every way.
He is against nature, against human beings, and despite that, he is going alone in a very dangerous environment. So, fear is a symbol of his devotion. Similarly, when Prabhupada ji is also going across the sea, then what happens? First, he gets seasickness, and after that, he gets heart attack.
First, he gets seasickness, and after that, he gets heart attack, because the sea is like a storm. But the firm resolve of Prabhupada ji remains firm. Third, we are looking at it like this, S is support.
Who is his support? When Ram was going across the sea, there were many monkeys with him for his support. Hanuman was also going alone. Hanuman was like Lord Ram, Lakshman.
Everyone was with him for his support. But Vasudev, when he is going against Jamuna, across Jamuna, we can say that Jamuna is small. Going across Jamuna is not as big as the sea.
That is right. But still, the challenge is huge, because Vasudev is alone. There is no one with Vasudev.
Now, if we see his picture, we will see that there is infinite rest, who is protecting Vasudev and Krishna from the stormy rain. But, Vasudev is not aware that there is infinite rest here for his protection. Vasudev is absolutely alone.
This is actually a limitation of visuals. When we make a picture, the real situation cannot be fully visualized. For example, when we make a picture of Arjuna, when Bhagwan appears in the form of world, divyam nadamite chakshu pashyam yogam aishwaram then we show Arjuna the world.
So, when we see a picture of the world, we see that Arjuna is here, and Krishna is at one place and Krishna is showing Arjuna the world. And he is showing the whole world. So, what do we see in this picture? We see Arjuna, Krishna and the world.
But, when Bhagwan Krishna shows Arjuna the world, then Arjuna is not able to see Krishna. He is not able to see Krishna. That is why, you will see, when Arjuna is doing Samodhan in Bhagavad Gita, he is not doing Samodhan to Krishna, he is doing Samodhan to the world.
And he is asking, aakhya hi me ko bhavan ugra roopo that who are you? Now, what is this? Krishna has told Arjuna that I am going to show the world. Now, he is showing the world. Then why is he asking who are you? Because, what happens to Arjuna that bhavan in Sanskrit is a respectful and respectful word of Samodhan.
Suppose, someone is calling you. So, who are you? Maybe, we will say. Then our boss will say, what can I do for you? So, what happens is, you immediately change into yourself.
Similarly, when Krishna is looking at Arjuna, then there is a bond of affection. So, when Krishna is going to Arjuna's shelter, then he calls Arjuna in the form of Tvam. But, when he sees the world, then he changes from Tu to Bhavan.
Who are you? Now, why is he asking who are you? Because, at that time, Arjuna is not able to see Krishna. He is only seeing the world. And, suppose, there is a friend with us.
We think that he is an ordinary friend. Then suddenly, there is a big danger. We are walking near a mountain.
Suddenly, a big stone starts falling from the mountain. And our friend suddenly catches it and covers it. Then we say, who are you? I was understanding you as an ordinary friend.
Who are you? Similarly, Arjuna knows about Krishna's world form. He knows about the world form. He has heard about it.
Arjuna has shown the world form to Duryodhana. Arjuna has heard about it. But Krishna shows something here.
He has not heard about it before. That is Kaal Roop. What does Kaal Roop mean? He shows how all the warriors are going inside this world form.
So, seeing that, Arjuna says, who are you? So, what was the purpose of Yajyapi Anant Shesh was with Vasudev. Vasudev did not know this. That is why, when he was serving, he was alone.
of taking all Krishna to that world form that is his responsibility. And, the danger is so much, the environment is so dangerous, and he is alone. And, being alone like this, that is his firm resolve.
And this firm resolve, without any support, when Prabhupada went to America, he was absolutely alone. Not only he was going alone, but it was not just Prabhupada was going alone. Actually, there was no one to help him.
So, one is that you are going alone physically, but you know that there are many people here who are going to help me. I can ask someone for help. If I go there, they will help me.
So, Prabhupada did not have anyone to support him for his American preaching. And, when he was going to America, he did not know anyone in America. And, he did not know how much that person would help him, what he would do, he did not know anything.
So, Prabhupada was absolutely alone. No support at all. And, in such a situation, if someone keeps his service, then how much faith he has in God, how much devotion he has, all these can be seen.
So, through his plays, God shows us how in Vasudev's heart, there is a thirst for the service of Krishna. In Krishna, his whole consciousness is being concentrated. And, this is like this.
So, we are discussing about thirst. So, the last point is R-A-S-A So, A is attitude. What is the emotion of the person? There can be many situations.
Prabhupada used to say that when we do service, our spiritual advancement is proportional to the responsibility that we take. How many responsibilities we take. Many times, Prabhupada used to define Krishna Bhavna in different ways.
So, So, in a lecture, Prabhaji gives a beautiful definition of Krishna Bhavna. He says that if you come to a temple and see God, and then you feel that Krishna is asking you, What are you doing for me? What are you doing for me? If you feel like this, then you are in Krishna Bhavna. So, when most people come to a temple, they ask God, What are you doing for me? I have this problem, that problem, that problem in my life.
Why are you not solving it? Yes, it is good that they are coming to God in some way or the other. But Krishna Bhavna does not mean that we take God's name and chant. That is there, but not only that.
Krishna Bhavna does not mean that we come and listen to Katha. Krishna Bhavna does not mean that we do different services for God. Yes, we do all that.
But in reality, the attitude is that a devotee should feel, What am I doing for Krishna? Like I said, the juice is created. God is the King of Juice. Not only does he taste the juice, but he also gives devotees the opportunity to taste the juice.
And how is the taste of the juice? It is the churning of our heart. There are different types of feelings in our heart. But when we try to serve with a firm resolve, taking responsibility, then what happens? Our heart is churned.
And to churn it, a chisel is needed. For example, the churning of the ocean is told in the 8th Skanda. So, what is the chisel there? The chisel for churning is the Mandar Mountain.
So, if our heart has to be churned, then the chisel is our service. That is the question. This question always remains in our heart.
What am I doing for Krishna? So, that service will keep churning our heart. And then the divine experience, the taste for Krishna will keep awakening. So, Vasudev has the same feeling that I have to serve Krishna.
And when he has to serve Krishna, then what happens? On one hand, Vasudev is taking Krishna away. On the other hand, Krishna is taking Vasudev away. Because Krishna has planned everything.
Krishna put the guards to sleep. Krishna opened the doors of the prison. Krishna showed a path through the river of Yamuna.
Krishna himself has come there as the infinite self. But what is it? In a way, the devotee wants to serve the God. The God wants to serve the devotee.
He wants to help the devotee in his service. And this is the experience of the divine taste. So, when Vasudev is going, Vasudev is carrying Krishna and Krishna is carrying Vasudev.
Vasudev is carrying Krishna physically and Krishna is carrying Vasudev, we could say, spiritually. He is providing all the services. So, Prabhupadaji went to America alone.
So, what was his feeling? When he went to America, normally, if someone has a heart attack, not once, but twice, if there is no doctor there, as soon as he reaches somewhere, first he has to check up with the doctor. But Prabhupadaji does not even go to a doctor like Butler Pencil. He says, When he went to America, in his song, what is the whole feeling of Prabhupadaji? What can I do for Krishna? Whatever service you want to do to me, I am ready.
Dance, dance, Lord. Dance, don't let me go. So, in that way, this was the feeling of Prabhupadaji's service.
And from that, Prabhupadaji, he also writes in his Jalduta Diary, that I am remembering Chaitanya Charita Amrit, Krishna Leela, I am experiencing rasa, and this is my bliss. So, in that way, like Vasudev is lifting Krishna, he has taken that responsibility. So, if we also take responsibility in the service of God, then in our life, in our heart, there will be the awakening of rasa.
And when that divine rasa will be awakened, then, yad rasaamrit triptasya na anyatra syadrati kuchit The rest of the rasa, about material things, we will go away from all that. Bhagwan, we will become one with Bhagwan. So, responsibility.
What does responsibility mean? It has different meanings. It is responsibility. So, sometimes we think that I have this to serve, I don't have this power.
So, the responsibility in bhakti, what is it? What is that? It is our response to God's ability. It is our response to God's ability. Bhagwan will send me such a person who will have that ability.
Prabhupada ji writes in his Bhagavatam that he says clearly that actually English is a foreign language for me and maybe I will not be able to write so well in English. But what is it? I have to give a message. So, he has the feeling of giving a message and then Prabhupada ji is sent by Krishna, English editors, English publishers, everything.
So, Krishna doesn't want to see our ability. He wants to see our attitude. How much power we have is not important.
It is the feeling of our service. If we have the feeling it is our responsibility when we give our response to God's ability. So, I have to serve Prabhupada ji with a strong determination.
And that determination of serving is not only that Prabhupada ji was able to experience the divine taste, but Prabhupada ji has created the Kanta Raksha Krishna Mahabharata Sangh with which thousands and lakhs of people are getting a chance the divine taste of Krishna Bhakti. So, Janmashtami is a historical event which happened thousands of years ago. Some Acharyas say that it happened exactly 5,022 years ago.
But whatever the exact date, when Krishna appeared is not as important as why Krishna appeared. Why Krishna appeared is more important than when he came. But when he came, his intention was to give us all the experience of the divine taste.
And Janmashtami is not only the incarnation of God for a time. It is the manifestation of God in our hearts. So, today on the occasion of Janmashtami, we can pray that in our hearts also, the divine taste of Krishna and in our hearts also, the divine taste awakens so that we start serving God and we go away from all the distorted tastes of this material world.
So, in conclusion, today I will discuss how God takes incarnation to awaken the divine taste. And God's external purpose is that he wants to establish dharma in the world. But that is for that time.
So, what does God do for the temporary time? God performs his leelas through which the establishment of dharma can happen in the hearts of everyone. And establishment of dharma means that everyone has the connection of dharmic and adharmic activities and support of adharmic activities. And how does he awaken the divine taste? We saw that through the leelas after the incarnation of Krishna.
Like especially in which Vasudev ji took Krishna beyond the We compared that to how Ram ji took Krishna beyond the fire and how Srila Prabhupada ji took Krishna beyond the fire. And we saw four things like R, A, S, A. Do you remember what was R? Risk. So, we saw how big was the risk for Vasudev that he was so weak that he was three times weak.
We saw in two ways that he was attacking Devaki and then he killed Devaki's sons again and again. So, Vasudev such So, what happens with the risk he was using? He gets worry but he also concentration and he is in God and he is a divine experience. What was A? Atmosphere which was not only against humanity but also nature.
It was like the atmosphere that it was night and before it was storm and what was S? Support So, Vasudev was completely alone. Devaki was there but he was not aware of So, if you have to serve alone then concentration and responsibility are very important. So, he was completely alone.
And what was one? Attitude So, the attitude that I have to serve is what am I doing for Krishna? What is Krishna doing for me? Why is this happening to me? Vasudev was alone but he was not storm. I have to Krishna. Prabhupada had a heart attack but when he was coming to America he was that I go to the hospital and admitted in ICU.
I will there in hospital and they me to Responsibility in Bhakti means our response to God's ability. And that awakening of God's presence is the permanent meeting of Janmashtami. Thank you very much.
Janmashtami Mahamahotsav Ki Jai Shri Krishna Bhagwan Ki Jai Shri Prabhupada Ki Jai Is there any comment or question? Hare Krishna.
