to be truly non-judgmental stop being judgmental about those who are judgmental if we are judgmental we often make snap judgments about people we blame them for doing certain actions but maybe those actions were inevitable given their situations situations that we didn’t know about and didn’t bother to know about when we understand how we misunderstand people we resolve to become less judgmental however the judgmental mentality still sneaks into us it’s not that easy to give up one insidious way it sneaks in is by creating a new value system within us a new judgment system within us wherein being non-judgmental is treated as the supreme virtue and being judgmental becomes condemned as the supreme vice and we start appreciating ourselves for being non-judgmental and we start disparaging condemning those who are judgmental even that they are committing the cardinal sin of being judgmental we feel entirely justified and entitled to criticize them and often criticize them harshly however we rarely realize that we are ourselves committing that same sin we are being judgmental about how judgmental they are when somebody does a mistake to be non-judgmental means to consider that maybe they didn’t do the mistake deliberately and intentionally maybe their circumstances and their backgrounds impel them to make such a mistake so could somebody’s background or circumstances make them judgmental also maybe many judgmental people grew up in an environment that taught them only a black and white picture of reality maybe even after growing up they were never exposed to a broad variety of experiences that would have introduced them to reality in its many shades between black and white going to even more fundamental things maybe based on their past, in this and previous lives they have minds that can only see things in black and white or not see things at all maybe trying to see the shades of grey will make them blind to even black and white and leave them dysfunctional maybe seeing black and white and being judgmental is the only way they can navigate the complexity of reality maybe therefore we need to become less judgmental about their judgmental mentality just as we try to become less judgmental and more understanding about other people’s various other faults pertinently the Bhagavad Gita 16-2 lists aversion to fault finding as a characteristic of the godly if we are to be godly then we need to stop finding faults with everyone including those people who can’t stop finding faults with everyone thank you
