Ask not why bad things happen to good people… Gita 04.15
Hare Krishna Ask not why bad things happen to good people Ask what good people do when bad things happen to them One of the oldest philosophical questions a question where theology meets daily human needs or real life is this question why do bad things happen to good people we all have seen and have probably experienced situations where something terrible has happened to a person who is overall good and we wonder why is this happening so how do we respond to this actually it’s not easy but we need to recognize that the best way to respond is by redirecting the focus of our question the Bhagavad Gita presumes the principle of karma wherein we are accountable for our actions wherein our present actions may give reactions immediately or in the future and the present situations we meet can be because of our recent actions or our remote distant actions but either way the point is that we do face difficult situations and amid such situations it is important for each one of us to move forward constructively that means to move forward in a way that doesn’t block our inner energy in resentment but channels that energy our emotional energy especially in a constructive direction and that’s why while scripture gives us the principles of karma but it also gives paradigmatic examples of individuals who faced adversities and they use their spirituality their inner strength to face those adversities so Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita so in the past many people have acted in various different ways knowing how people in the past have acted with detachment for the purpose of spiritual growth you also act accordingly those are the seekers of liberation and if you act in a similar way you will also become elevated you will also become liberated and that is what each one of us should be seeking in our lives if you understand this basic principle and mold our life accordingly then each one of us can move forward and we can learn from their example and if we want to focus on redirecting our lives then Krishna stands ready in our hearts to guide us he says I will give you the intelligence by which you can make wise choices by which you will grow spiritually and ultimately attain me which is the destination beyond all tribulation Thank you Hare Krishna
