Don’t justify your weaknesses, rectify them Gita 03.21
Hare Krishna If we justify our weaknesses by comparing ourselves to those weaker than us we weaken our motivation to rectify ourselves we all live in an interconnected world and we all have certain reference points for deciding how we are and how we should be so we all have certain strengths and certain weaknesses the weaknesses may be lust, anger, greed, envy and so forth when we have those weaknesses how do we deal with them? we can say others are doing far worse than us others are actually far more sensual than what we are and when that happens when we start seeing others that way they become our reference point then we deprive ourselves of the motivation to improve yes, everybody may be having lust but that doesn't mean lust is good that doesn't even mean lust is alright it means that yes, that is the condition right now but if we want to grow spiritually then we need to overcome those desires so we need to look at those who are better than us and we need to look at our potential which is far better than where we are presently and we have a responsibility to manifest our potential and thereby inspire others to manifest their potential the Bhagavata states in 321 it says that just as great people behave other people follow accordingly whatever standards they set, others emulate this means that if we want the world to become better if we want our society, our family to become better then we need to set the standards we need to raise the bar higher and strive to become the best that we can be yes, we don't want to be discouraged by looking at those people who are way above us and thinking that I'll never get there we can look at those people who are attainably above us in character and qualities and try to develop those qualities but if we make our reference point those who are below us then we will never rise we will deprive ourselves and we will deprive the world of our potential the Bhagavad Gita urges us to look up to look within to our own potential divinity our own core spirituality and then to look up to those who have manifested their divinity and follow in their footsteps and inspire others to follow in our footsteps thank you Hare Krishna.
