What does God say? Gyanavan. Those who are knowledgeable. Those who acquire knowledge.
Ma Trapatyate. They come to my refuge. Gyanavan, Ma Trapatyate.
Gyanavan. Why do they come to my refuge? What do they understand? Vasudev. Vasudev is God's name.
Vasudevah Sarvamiti. God is everything. He can fulfill our desires, our desires, our needs in the end.
This is what we understand. Vasudevah Sarvamiti. Vasudevah Sarvamiti.
All the Mahatmas. Those who have come here in person. They are Mahatmas.
All the Mahatmas. What are these people? Sudurlabha. These people are very rare.
All the Mahatmas. Sudurlabha. All the Mahatmas.

After many lifetimes of wondering, the wise come at last to me, surrendering. Gyanavan Ma Trapatyate. Vasudevah Sarvamiti.
They know me as the fulfillment of their every need. Samahatma Sudurlabha. Rare, how incredibly rare are such great souls indeed.
So today I would like to tell you how, when devotion to God happens, some people come in devotion to God, some people don't, many people don't. So what is the difference in this? This is the seventh chapter of Bhagavad Gita. In this, God, God's relationship, that God's relationship with things and people, what is it, is being told.
So the relationship with things, God has told from the 8th to the 13th chapter of the 7th chapter. And from the 15th to the 24th chapter of the 7th chapter, those different types of people, what is their relationship with them, is being told. And when it is being told, its purpose is that, God had told earlier, in the middle of the 7th chapter, that the whole world is like a jewel necklace.
And the jewel necklace has a thread. That thread is invisible. But without that thread, it is not visible.
The thread underlies and unifies the necklace. So God says, I am that thread. So here God is telling, all these Jis are different people.
So people are of different types. So Jis are different types of people. Some of them stay away from God.
They stay away from God, but they go further away from Him. So their relationship, God has told from the 15th to the 24th chapter. And from the 16th to the 19th chapter, those who count near to Him, who come in His presence, and those who are in the middle, God will talk to them in the 20th to the 24th chapter.
So those who are going far away from God, they come to God. Those who are in the middle, God will talk to them later. So now, those who come to God, why do they come? What is the meaning of that here? You have come here, maybe someone has called you, maybe a family member has come with you, someone has come here, some people have come, some haven't.
So, why are some people not able to go towards God? Why are some people interested? Why are some people attracted? Why are others not? So be careful. In our life, if we are here, there is the world in front of us. And, we can try to achieve a lot in the world.
We want to become famous, powerful, wealthy. We want to achieve a lot of things. And when we are here, our eyes are normally towards the world.
And if God is here, then God is behind us. So, here, in Bhagavad Gita, there are three J's. Jiva, Jagat, and Jagadish.
Jagadish means the Ish of the world. So, the soul, the world, and God. So, normally, everyone's gaze is towards the world.
Is God there? Yes, God is there. God has faith. But, there is not much importance of God.
Now, I was in America. When I was in America, for three months, I was doing some research. So, there, some ten years ago, Atheism was increasing a lot.
But now, Atheism is increasing so much, there is a new religious group. It is called Nun. Nun is not N-U-N.
It is N-O-N-E. It means that we are not atheists. We are not atheists.
We don't care about anything. So, God exists. So what? What difference does it make So, God is not relevant.
Now, this is called Apatheism. Apatheism means we don't care about God. We call it Nuns.
So, when, when I was 75 years old, I was talking to my relatives about God. I was talking about God. So, I told my uncle, I believe in God.
He is happy there. I am happy here. So, what do I care about God? So, there is no relevance to state.
So, the relevance of God, the need for God, when does it occur? There are two possibilities. When we are facing the world, then, one possibility is, that we feel that, I am not good enough for the world. That, I am not good enough for the world.
Maybe, I am not that smart. Maybe, I am not that beautiful. Maybe, I don't have that many contacts.
Maybe, maybe, I have so many problems in my life, I am not able to face them. So, this is one possibility, when we feel that, I am not good enough for God, for the world. I am not good enough for this world.
Then, maybe, we say, God, please help me. God, please help me. And the second possibility is, that, the world is not good enough for me.
Now, maybe, the world is not good enough for me. This is not an egoistic concept. This person thinks that, in this world, someone will become famous, someone will become very rich, someone will go here and see, someone will go there and play, someone will go there and eat, someone will do this and that.
Okay, what is after that? We have to keep repeating this in our life, that, there is something beyond this. So, these two possibilities are, that, I am not good enough for the world, or, the world is not good enough for me. Because of these two thoughts, a person's vision, goes somewhere from this world.
So, in the spiritual world, the materialists, who are materialistic, and the spiritualists, who are spiritualists, now, what is the main difference between the two? That, when a person is materialistic, then, for him, the world is very big, and, God is very small. God, what is the need for him? But, when a person becomes a spiritualist, then, for him, the world becomes small, and, God becomes big. Now, God, is already the biggest, but, in our imagination, in our reality, God is big or small? Now, when we, someone says, I consider God to be big, it is not a matter of belief, it is a matter of life, it is a matter of feeling.
When we consider the world to be very big, then, in the world, there is always up and down. Sometimes, there is happiness, sometimes, there is sadness. This keeps happening.
If, in our imagination, the world is very big, then, what happens? When there is happiness in the world, then, we become very happy. When there is sadness, then, we become very sad. So, this up and down keeps happening.
And, we see, that, many times, someone is doing a job, someone is doing a business, I love this, this is the best job in the world. two days later, I hate this terrible job. Why did I give it? So, these days, relationships are like this.
One day, I love you, I can't live without you. The next day, I hate you, I can't live with you. So, this happens.
So, when our world is very big, then, what happens? Then, we become emotionally unstable. Emotionally unstable. Because, when the world is big, then, the problem is that, if someone is good, then, he is very good.
If someone is bad, then, life is over. So, in this way, a person has to his emotions and emotions have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to On the contrary, when we have God as our refuge, then we can do our responsibilities more easily because we are more capable on the spiritual level. So this is the difference, that who is materialistic and who is spiritualistic.
So now I have to tell you about two things here too. When will the world's attention go towards God? Either I feel that there are so many problems in this world, I can't handle them. So I am not good enough for the world.
So when people go to God, the two things I told you, you can call it two things. One is shock absorber. There are many problems in this world.
If I go to God, then God will give me the strength to bear it. This is one example. Shock absorber.
That okay, I am not good enough for the world. But if the road is bad, but your car has a shock absorber, then it won't be that bad. It won't be that bad.
I promise you. This is one. And the second is, God is the goal transformer.
That the world is not good enough for me. What does it mean? There is something else beyond this world. And the God beyond this world is the goal of my life.
To attain him is the goal of my life. So if we turn towards God from both sides, it is good. If we turn towards anyone, it is not good.
So this is 7.19. God, Vasudev and Sarvabhikshit, whom I have said, has come to this level. God has become completely fixed in that person's consciousness. So on this journey, on this transformation, what does a person get? So here God says, Here God says, the four types of people, they search for them.
These four types of people, God says, we will see that shloka once. Here he is saying, Chatur Vidha. Chatur Vidha means four types.
Bhajante Maam. The four types of people, they worship me. Chatur Vidha Bhajante Maam.
Chatur Vidha Bhajante Maam. Janaha, the people who are born, Sukruti no. All of them have done Sukruti.
Otherwise they don't care about God. The other extreme people, they have nothing to do with God. They have to take care.
Janaha Sukruti no Arjuna. These four types of people are good. Janaha Sukruti no Arjuna.
Arto. Arto means those who are in pain. Jigyansu.
Those who want to know. There are many types of Jigyansu. Those who want to know about history, geography, politics.
Those who want to know about religion, and spirituality. Jigyansu. Artharthi.
Artharthi means that they want something. They want to fulfill God. Arto Jigyansu Artharthi.
And the last type is Gyani. Those who have attained knowledge. Gyanicha Bharatan Shabha.
O Arjuna, you are the son of Bharata. Gyanicha Bharatan Shabha. So in this, if we look at the path of our life, what happens is two things come up.
One is the desire for pleasure. That we want to give everyone happiness. And the second is the fear of trouble.
That we don't want any trouble. We wake up in the morning, go for a walk, we don't want to get any pleasure. And we don't want to get any sorrow.
So in this, there are two types of people. Those who are in sorrow, what does that mean? They think there is a problem, and they want to solve it. And the desire for pleasure is Artha-Arthi.
Artha has one meaning. The word Artha has so many meanings. So one meaning of Artha is money.
Like there are Artha-Mantri. And Arthi, like there are Purusha-Artha, the aim. Those whose aim is to get money.
So there are such people. Artha and Artha-Arthi. These two types of people come to God.
They think, I don't have so many problems. So how will I solve this problem? I can't do this work. So I have to pray to God.
So, you must have seen, when I walk, I have a habit. When I was one year old, I had polio. So my mother took me to the doctor for polio vaccine.
But I stayed in a small room in Maharashtra. So there, the electricity, the small clinic there, the fridge in which polio vaccine was kept, last year, there was a power cut. So the fridge power went off.
So the germs of polio in the vaccine, because of the power not going off, it increased in the fridge. So when I took the vaccine, the vaccine was for polio target, but I got polio from the vaccine. So, I don't know, but one day, I fell down suddenly.
I didn't get up. I don't remember. But my first memory about this is, I was 2 or 3 years old.
So, some neighbors or relatives came to my house. And they were consoling my mother that she got very bad, her daughter got polio. So, now I remember my mother in a very clear, confident voice, she was saying that, whatever he lacks physically, God will provide him intellect.
Whatever he lacks physically, God will provide him intellect. So, I was 2 or 2.5 years old. I didn't even know what was physical.
So, a few years later, I got polio. I didn't even get a chance to ask. But, whatever, what did that do? Since childhood, I had this obsession in my mind.
Initially, I didn't think about God. But, I started thinking that, my own identity was more than my intellect. And when I used to study, it was easy for me to understand.
It was easy for me to remember. It was easy for me to explain. So, I saw that, yes, I can play with my mother.
There is something lacking, but there is something good in her. So, when we, our, our vision, is only towards this world, then, what happens is that, from the perspective of this world, if something is less, and it is seen prominently, then, it gets embedded in our mind. And then, always, insecurity, inferiority, all these obsessions arise.
But, if, our vision, is open towards God, then, there will be different kinds of obsessions in this world. But, whatever obsessions we will have towards God, whatever problems we will have, we will be able to face them. Now, how we will face them, when we will face them, for that, we have to, have an open-mindedness.
That, our mind is open. Some people say that, when they face a problem, then, their mind becomes open. If we, our vision is, that I am here, and the world is here, and God is seen from above, then, what happens is that, in everyone's life, loss, comes from all kinds of problems.
Maybe, we are giving an exam, we don't get good marks in the exam, we are given an interview, there, something goes wrong, we are pursuing a relationship, there is a problem. Loss comes in everyone's life. But, this loss, is a problem.
But, what it means is that, in our world, this loss, is a problem. So, now, our mind, how does it see that loss? Mental, experience. How do we see it? I want to tell you that, how God can be a shock absorber for us.
Either, we can see that, okay, I have lost. Okay, I had lost money in this business. I have to run this business.
I have lost. Okay, this is objective. But, what is worse than this is, I am lost.
What is this? Only one position has gone. What we had, that has gone. What is here? Here, direction has gone.
I don't know what to do. But, what is worse than this, when God thinks, I am a loser. Because, I am, my destiny is broken.
My, my life is broken. Everything, in me, there is some fault, there is some, problem, in that, nothing will ever happen. What is this dialect? It saves up to self-definition.
What is my self-definition, it saves up to that. And, when it becomes like this, then, that person, goes into depression, his low self-esteem, and, sometimes, goes into suicide. So, loss will come in everything.
But, if, our vision, is only towards this world, then, in this world, a very important thing, has gone, that, what is the meaning of my life? But, if we understand that, this world, has a God, and, there is definitely, a plan of God, for my life. So, if one door closes, God will definitely, open another door. So, when will it open? How will it open? Where will that door be? For that, we need, a little, devotion.
For that, we need, devotion of God. we need, a little, devotion of God. So, when, we worship God, when we come to satsang, when we do japa, then, we listen to Katha.
So, what happens with that? We do Kirtan. So, on one hand, we get peace. But, peace, peace is a good thing, a very important thing.
But, apart from this, what is it? It is an even more important thing, that, we get a pulse, that, we get peace. God says, that, that devotion, is called, Buddhi Yoga. So, what does Buddhi Yoga mean? That, that yoga, through which, we get, Buddhi.
That, we do something, through which, when we do japa, when we do Kirtan, then, first of all, our mind, becomes peaceful. Then, after that, it becomes, purposeful. Purposeful means, that, we get a direction.
This is my direction. Now, it is said in the scriptures, very, great devotees, even if they are not, in their lives, problems arise. And, when problems arise, then, what happens is, if we turn towards God, if we turn towards God, if we tolerate God, only then, we get a little, peace.
This, shock, absorbs. In Mahabharata, that, the, 13th day, only then, in its, beginning, Kaula, created a yoga, that, by creating a chakra, Yudhishthira, wanted to capture him. But, Arjuna was going to come, so, that is why, there was a king named, who, with his thousands, thousands, of warriors, soldiers, chose Arjuna.
And then, he took Arjuna, to Bhaji. And then, he took Arjuna to Bhaji, and then, when Arjuna went away, then, according to Drona's, plan, he, his army, reorganized, and then, made a chakra there. And, no one could send a chakra, apart from Arjuna.
And, Pandavas, were in trouble. Then, Bheem said, Abhimanyu knows, how to send a chakra. So, he called Abhimanyu, and Abhimanyu said, I know, how to send it, but, I don't know, how to come out of it.
So, what happened then? Then, Bheem said, Yudhishthira said, you have seen, you send the chakra, then, we will come inside, and then, from inside, the entire chakra. That was the plan. And, Abhimanyu, very cleverly, sent the chakra.
And, as soon as, he went inside, Pandavas recognized him. Then, Jayadratha came in between. And, Jayadratha, was surrounded by a Shiva, so that, he could stop, all Pandavas, at once.
And, Pandavas, were watching, because, in front of their eyes, how, that chakra, got closed. And, Abhimanyu, got trapped inside. Like, in a cricket match, it feels like, we are going to win.
But, someone else, comes on the other team, and starts batting. And, the match is ahead. And, the wind is blowing.
And then, in the evening, like, time passed, then, after some time, after a long time, from Kauravas, a sound, started coming down. So, Mahatma Gandhi, woke up. Abhimanyu, was not there.
So, in the evening, went to his, encampment, Pandavas, and sat there. And then, Abhimanyu, came back. Sorry, Arjun, came back.
Now, when Arjun, came back, then, the war, that used to happen, war, was like, It was a test, of strength, and, So, every evening, when the warriors, their spirits, their mood, to be in a good mood, the musicians, used to play music there. And, when Arjun, came that day, then, the whole scene, was like that. And then, when Arjun, now, we have come here, the people, who know us, then, we meet them, we greet them, we greet the crows.
And, when Arjun, came back, then, no one, used to shake hands with Arjun. Everyone, used to shake hands with Arjun. Then, Arjun's heart, his heart, began to tremble.
What has happened? A very fierce war, was going on. Then, Arjun, remembered, that, someone was screaming, that, Drona, has created Chakravyuha. Arjun, in such a fierce war, he did not give up, but, if Chakravyuha, has been created, then, what has happened to him? Then, Arjun, that, maybe, Arjun, had gone to see him, but, Arjun, did not know, how he was outside.
Did Arjun, hide somewhere? When, this thought, came to Arjun's mind, a pit, formed in his stomach, and, somehow, he went there, and, as soon as, all the warriors, had their places, and, the first thing, he saw, that, Arjun's, throne, was there, and, that throne, was Kali. And, Arjun, did not want to believe, what his eyes, were showing him. Hoping, at least, hope, he looked at, Yudhishthir.
And, tears, from Yudhishthir's, Arjun, fell down, Yudhishthir, slowly, slowly, all the warriors, on his chest, slowly, slowly, he came, to Arjun's side, and, then, told Arjun, what happened, how, Abhimanyu, had died. So, Arjun, was mourning, Arjun, was crying, Abhimanyu, Abhimanyu, was crying, he was saying, he was thinking, that, now, when Abhimanyu, was in a coma, maybe, he would have called me, maybe, he would have said, that, father, I could not reach him, and, slowly, slowly, Arjun's, turned into anger. And, Arjun, looked at his brothers, and said, Dhishthirji, are all your weapons, just like jewellery? Can not, one of you, protect my son? Fire on you! So, Arjun's words, were, like, like, whips, on the hearts, of Dhishthir and Bhima.
That is when, Krishna came to Arjun, and Krishna, gave Arjun, a side hug. And, Krishna said, O Arjuna, in this world, sorrows, problems, come on everyone, whether they are intelligent, or not. But, what is the difference between these two? That, the intelligent people, when problems come, they do such things, that, the problems increase.
The intelligent people, when problems come, they see, how the problems, get solved. O Arjun, look, your brothers, are also, suffering a lot. They are drowning, in the ocean of sorrows.
Like, you are drowning, because of the death, Please, Arjun, don't say such words, so that, their sorrows, increase even more. So, when Arjun, heard these words, Krishna's words, are not, spiritual knowledge. They are not, spiritual knowledge, but practical knowledge.
So, what is God, by saying, these words? What happens, is that, when, we are in sorrow, then, our sorrow, becomes so much, that, others are also, in sorrow. They, don't remember us. And, in English, we say, hurt people, hurt people.
The sad people, make others, sad. So, when this happens, then, I am not, alone, in suffering. I am in my own, I am in my own, sorrow.
So, if, different people, have different, If Arjun's son is dead, then Arjun's grief will not be felt by anyone else. But it is not that Arjun loved Arjun, and Yudhishthir and Bheem did not love Arjun's son. They are all one family.
So, when Arjun's consciousness increases, If this happens because of Krishna's words, then we start thinking that if we are all in grief, or Vimanyu's death is not because of Yudhishthir or Bheem. Arjun was a warrior and a commander. He had made the plan well.
But Jaidrath came in between and ruined the whole plan. Then Arjun's anger went in the right direction. Then Arjun said, till tomorrow evening, I take a vow that I will kill Jaidrath.
And if I could not kill Jaidrath, then I will go to the fire and kill myself. So, when Arjun took such a vow, then all the Pandavas' soldiers and warriors got excited. They were all enraged.
Arjun took such a vow that everyone got excited. Everyone started playing their instruments. And when they started playing their instruments, they started making plans, they started trying to win.
Then Krishna and Arjuna were going to make plans for the next day. Then Krishna called Arjun to him. Arjun, how did you take such a big vow without asking me? It will be very difficult to complete this vow tomorrow.
The whole army of Drona is waiting to stop you. Then Arjun said, Krishna, I don't understand your worry. You know my power and I know your power.
So, this is faith. There can be many definitions of faith in the philosophical sense. But the practical definition of faith is that God knows our power.
God knows our power, our materialism. And we know God's power. We know God's power.
Sometimes we think that we have so much power, the world is so big, we have so much materialism. But we know that if there is a problem in our life, then God knows our power. And even though it is beyond our power, it is not beyond God's power.
So, God will surely give us power. So, for Arjun, this feeling of service became a shock absorber. The pain that comes in this world, to face it, if we have faith in God and have a feeling of service to God, then we go beyond the shock of this world.
So, now there is another point. We saw that if we have faith in God, then two things can happen. So, I am not good enough for the world.
So, the world is not good enough for me. And what is the second point? The world is not good enough for me. We will discuss this later in this lecture.
Now, when there is pain and distress in our life, then there can be different types of distress. Some of it is that our whole heart breaks, there is devastation, some of it is very bad in our life. But some of it is that it is dissatisfaction.
Sometimes it happens that our desire, we have a lot of desire, it is fulfilled. But what happens when the desire is fulfilled? Desires are fulfilled. Maybe we want to buy a house like this, I want to travel to this country, I want to live here, I want to drive a car like this, I want to do this, I want to do that.
Our desires are fulfilled. But what happens? The heart is not fulfilled. Intelligent and fortunate.
It is a desire that we have tried a lot to fulfill. And it is fulfilled. But what happens after that? It is nice, but nothing great about it.
Sometimes we feel happy. We come to Hill City. People come to Hill City these days.
They see the beauty of Hill City. They want to take a selfie and show how beautiful they are. And then, the world has such an effect that we are not so worried about being happy as about telling others that we are happy.
That I don't want to be happy, I don't want to tell the world how happy I am. That is very bad. If that feeling is there, then today it is one thing, tomorrow it is another.
That is why we keep following it. But sometimes we feel that it is okay. The world tells us to eat this, drink this, buy this, do this.
We have done a lot. But is there real happiness in it? Or do I want something else? Then what happens? God transforms completely. What is the meaning of God transforming? Suppose that God is like an ocean.
God is an ocean of happiness. And we are here. So, from this ocean, drops come from many places.
All the drops have come from this ocean. But, all the drops don't take us to the ocean. Some drops take us away from the ocean.
Some drops take us to the ocean. So, what is it? That there are many attractive things in this world. And these attractive things are like drops of water.
If we are in the desert, very thirsty, then even a single drop is very thirsty. But how thirsty is that one drop? Similarly, if we get a drop, then desire is fulfilled. The desire is fulfilled.
But what is it? Heart is not fulfilled. It does not quench our thirst. So, the one who is knowledgeable, understands that there are many attractive things in this world.
And there is a little happiness in all of them. But all that happiness is like a drop. And the eternal happiness, the ocean of happiness, is in God.
सबसुख सागर सबगुणागर आनन्दां भुदिवर्धनम् प्रतिपदं पुराउर्था स्वधनम् So, it is not like that when we are going towards this ocean, then we leave all these drops. No. We go towards the drops, but we will go towards those drops which will take us towards the ocean.
So, it is not like that if we want to worship God, then we will leave everything in this world. But we have to think what are the things in this world which bring me closer to God. And what are the things which bring me closer to God.
So, music is good for all of us. But if there is any music which awakens a lot of desires in our mind, then by listening to it, we will get closer to God. We will get away from God.
Our mind will become restless. But if we listen to the music of God, if we listen to the music of God, if we listen to the music of God, then what will happen? That is music. We will not leave music.
But that same music will take us closer to God. I was in America. Now, in America, in many places, Kirtan is a music genre.
And there are concerts of Kirtan. And people pay in big halls to go and listen to Kirtan concerts. And now, Hindus have become very influential in America, in the western countries.
So, they are lobbying a little that Kirtan should become a category in the Grammy Awards. And it will definitely happen in a few years. So, now, our Kirtan is a religious Kirtan.
Yes, I remember, we were doing Kirtan. In the western countries, the people who do Kirtan, yes, some of them are the ones who are looking for religion. But many people are like this.
They say, this is cool music. Now, these are the words of cool. Cool means attractive.
It is cool. But what is this cool music? It means, this makes our head cool. Like, yes, we listen to music, Kirtan, Bhajan, we listen to music, it makes us calm.
It gives us inner satisfaction. So, when our God becomes a Goal Transformer, what does it mean? It means that the happiness in our lives, there is some internal happiness and some external happiness. There is some inner happiness and some external happiness.
So, the external happiness is in the form of clashes. Sometimes it comes, sometimes it goes. But the inner happiness, the more it is connected to God, it does not increase.
It is all internal. How is it? This is an external happiness. This happiness is outside the clashes.
So, suppose there is a small child. The child is very naughty. And the mother wants to give him some medicine.
Now, this is a sweet medicine. But the child thinks that if I give medicine, it will be bitter. So, he wants to take medicine.
So, what does the mother do? She holds his mouth and gives medicine. When she gives medicine, the child says, no, no, no, and shakes his neck. So, what happens? When he shakes his neck, all the medicine goes inside him.
It falls. But in the meantime, the mother gives medicine and a little medicine goes inside him. So, the child says, no, no, no, and a little medicine goes inside him.
Then the child says, this medicine is good. He shakes his neck. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
is the remembrance of God. So if we hold on to our mind with our intellect, the mind goes here and there, but we put it in God. So what will happen slowly? That in remembrance of God, in worship of God, we will go to serve God.
This is a ritualistic thing, which I was doing before, it wasn't good. If I do this, then there is so much bliss in it. SANSKRIT CHANT Mahatma Gandhi used to say, that he was a king before, he had a lot of wealth, and he had all the luxuries of this world.
But he used to say, Oh God, when I remember you now, SANSKRIT CHANT I don't know any other bliss. Here you are telling me, the bliss that is in your remembrance, that is supreme happiness. So in our mind, our mind is like a child.
The mind is like a child, but our intellect, is like a mother. So what will happen? The remembrance of Krishna, the remembrance of God, we will take it as a medicine. And that same medicine, what will we take? It has become an ointment.
And then, whatever will come in this world, not only will we be steady, we will be steady on the outside, we will be steady on the outside, but on the inside, like our God, our Jyotir, the more we will be happier, the more blissful we will be. So this gold transformer, shock absorber, to gold transformer. This is the spiritual journey.
When we are here, it's like we are new. But here we are seasoned, we are experienced. God trains us at every level.
When we are new, when our God is shock absorber, then what happens? That all the things, we tried this, we tried that, we tried this, we tried that, nothing came, then finally God spoiled us. God does not do anything, then I am at my mistake. So this is the glory of God, we are here, this is the glory of God, that's why he trains us.
So suppose a boy comes to a girl and proposes her, please marry me. And then the girl asks him, why do you want to marry me? So he says, because no other girl in the city is ready to marry me. And the girl says, I don't want to marry you.
That is one of the most romantic of proposals. So if a boy says like this, no one is accepting him, and still the girl accepts his proposal. So what does that mean? That girl loves him.
Now that shows her love for him, not his love for her. When after that, and after all the options, still he will stay with her, then that is his love for her. So in that way, when we go to God, God tried this, God tried that, nothing worked, now I am with you.
Why am I with you? Because something else is going on. Still God accepts me. This is God's love for us.
So shock absorber means, we tried everything, still later we came to God. So this is God's love, that whenever we are the last alternative for him, even then God accepts us. God says, that the girl who has a little bit of devotion, God calls that a loan.
But what is our technical characteristic? What is the characteristic of our devotion? That when things are going well in the world, we also have options, so we say, thank you God, bye bye. If we do like that, then our devotion is not that deep. Devotion is not that deep.
But when things are going well in the world, then we say, it's good. The world may be good, but God is the best. God is better than the world.
So that is our characteristic of devotion. When we are the alternative, then also we give God's support, we listen to God and serve him. Such people are also called by God, Gyanwan.
Such people are said to be very weak. So with the study of Govinda, with the satsang of the devotees, all of us can come to the level of Gyanwan, which is the inner bliss, we can attain it in the presence of God. So this is the summary.
There are four points. First of all, I have told you about Chapter 7, the study of Govinda. How God is telling the relationship with things and people.
And in people, those who don't surrender, and those who go to God's refuge, they go to God's refuge. So in them, they go to God's refuge. I have discussed how the spiritual journey is, first of all, the world is very big for us.
God is small for us. So as we progress, the world becomes small, and God becomes big. So what happens with this? When we come into this world, if God is big, then we go very high in the world.
But if God is big, then we remain stable in the world. So now, when do we turn from this world to God? There are two possibilities. When we face the world, we feel that the world is not good enough for me.
I am not good enough for the world, and the world is not good enough for me. One is that we get shocked in life, and God becomes a shock absorber for us. And the second is that God transforms a goal for us.
The world is not good enough for me. Let's discuss this in two ways. Those who are shock absorbers, what happens in our life? When there is a problem, and everyone has a problem, then what can be the problem? Maybe we are not fulfilling our desires, we are not getting pleasure, or we are not getting rid of the trouble in our life.
So at that time, we turn to God. So after the death of Abhimanyu, when Abhimanyu was very shocked, so in that shock, what did God say to Abhimanyu? He said, whatever has happened, don't think too much about it, but if there is sorrow, then increase this sorrow. How can we reduce sorrow? And what is the meaning of Shraddha in such a problem? Not only are we looking at this problem, we know, God knows our power, Bhagwan knows us, and we know Bhagwan.
We know God's power. If we understand these two things, then no matter how big the problem is, we can face it. And the last thing, when Bhagwan becomes our goal transformer, when we, when our desires are fulfilled, we get what we want, but still we see that the heart is not satisfied with it.
But when we see, we understand Bhagwan as God is like an ocean, and the things of this world are like small droplets. So we will go to those droplets which become God to us. So we don't have to leave the world, but we have to connect with the things of the world which become God to us.
When we go to the goal transformer, first, God may be our last alternative. And when our Bhagwan is our last alternative, that is when we accept Bhagwan, that shows God's love for us. Because Bhagwan brings us, that is why He accepts us.
But when our Bhagwan becomes our first alternative, then what does that mean? That shows our love for God. At that time, Bhagwan becomes our first alternative, and that is when the inner happiness, the external happiness in our life, is external and internal. Happiness.
So the outer happiness will go up, but the inner happiness will always increase with the help of Bhagwan. Like a small child, when he drinks medicine, when he sees the sound of the medicine, he gets more happiness. Thank you very much.
Does anyone have a question? Yes. Do we have a mic? Thank you so much for your extremely good work. I am so short absorber.
I understand. So when you have a child, you like to be a short absorber. But, the goal transformer you are, if you have a goal, and you wish for that and you fulfill it, that is how you see God as a goal transformer, I think, right? Good question.
What is the meaning of a goal transformer? What is the meaning of a goal transformer? As I told you, in every situation, when we are doing spiritual progress, the world is small, but Bhagwan is big. So when it is like this, what happens first? First, in this situation, the world is big, but Bhagwan is small. So at that time, what is our goal? It is not Bhagwan, it is the world.
So, the word is the means, God is the means. Bhagwan is an excuse for us. And the world is an objective.
I want prosperity, I want wealth, I want respect. I want this, I want that. So, Bhagwan, you fulfill my wish.
So what is the reason? Even if I don't need Bhagwan, I can win the world without Bhagwan. But I myself am not able to win the world, so I need Bhagwan. So, we don't have a primary interest in Bhagwan, that is why our goal, the goal is the world.
I was in Varanasi, I went to a temple there, there, outside Hanumanji's temple, there was a prayer, a prayer quote in Hindi, it was said, You are the child of a brahmin, take me as a woman. So what happened there, that we are going to Bhagwan, but the world is the goal. But when we see the spiritual manifestation, then the world is the means, and God is the means.
ends. God is the goal. Our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to please God, and our goal was to Questioner says, when there is emotional stability in us, when we are calm, relatively calm, then we become more calm.
Stability is not there at that time. But when we face emotions or past traumas, then it vanishes. The peace of mind goes away.
How does it resolve? How does emotional stability come? Can you tell us practically? If we want to practice now, then is it necessary? Yes, it's a very important question. So, this world is called the ocean of emotions. If we are in the ocean, then there will be waves in our lives.
So, there will be waves, sometimes we will be thrown down, sometimes we will go up. So, this is going to happen with everyone. But if we have a boat, an anchor, then what is it? We hold it.
The more we hold it, the waves of the ocean will come, those waves will hit us, will throw us, but if we are holding it, then we won't be thrown away. So, God and God's remembrance is like a boat, like an anchor. And the anchor is at one place.
Like God is an anchor, he extends towards the ocean. He is such an anchor, that he can take us anywhere in the ocean, he can touch us, but wherever we are, we can remember God. So, on the basis of this concept, God is the one unchanging reality amidst the changes of the world.
So, in this world, the external situation can be calm, sometimes it is calm, sometimes it is not. Like you said, the triggers of past trauma come, so we can't control that much. But at that time, if we hold the anchor, what is the meaning of holding the anchor? So, the remembrance of Krishna, there are two things to be done.
In our mind, the first trauma, whatever problem we have, what happens in that? It is called SANSKAR. Now, SANSKAR, there is another word for it, SAM-SKAR. So, all of us have some scars, some kind of scars, which gives us pain.
So, let's say someone has a wound, so I meet someone, I want to talk to him, I touch his shoulder, he screams, what happened? He says, I have a fracture in my shoulder, that's why I touched it. So, generally, how do we understand if someone has a wound? So, small action, huge reaction. So, what happens in that way? The scar that we all have, many times, we have a big reaction to it.
So, when we remember God, there are two things to be done. First of all, REDIRECTION. When something comes from outside in our mind, if our mind is empty, then it will be filled in our mind.
And again, a storm will come, and we will be thrown somewhere. But, if we have the habit of chanting God, of worshipping God, maybe we have that anchor, but we don't have the habit of catching it. So, what happens? We can't drive any thought out of our mind, but we can crowd many thoughts out of our mind.
But, what is this? This is REDIRECTION when external trigger is there. But, sometimes what happens? Internal trigger is there. What does internal trigger mean? It is awakened from within.
It is still there. What do we call it? So, what happens for that? Rewriting. The sanskars inside us, they can't delete us.
We can't delete our memories, but we can create fresh memories. So, what can we do? We can create new memories. And, in a way, why is the remembrance of God so important in bhakti? Because, what is remembrance? In practical terms of bhakti, what does bhakti mean? Our memory becomes our treasure.
If you have some money, it is your treasure. But, what is bhakti? It is the divine play. If you have gone to a temple, if you have worshipped God, we have to create such memories through bhakti, that they become images in our mind, they become new sanskars.
And then, these new sanskars heal the old wounds. So, both these things happen through the remembrance of God. So, this is our practice.
It is good that if there is no problem, then the mind becomes calm. And, when there is a problem, or when the trauma triggers again, then naturally, we become restless. But, what happens? That restlessness doesn't stay for long.
That which used to go up so much earlier, then slowly, slowly, slowly, it becomes less, and stability increases. So, this is the importance of remembrance. Thank you.
Hare Krishna. You just told that God is ocean of happiness. And, we have to only see those drops coming from this ocean of happiness.
So, how can we identify those drops of happiness? All drops come from Him only. All drops come from Him. But, which drops are we taking to Him? We have to see that.
So, how are we now? There are three things in this whole question. There are three things in this whole question. That, material things.
When I said drops, there are many things. Material things, that take us toward God, toward Krishna. So, first of all, what is it? That, when we do that thing, then our truth increases.
What is the aim of truth? What is the aim of truth? One is that, we feel peace. We feel peace. Now, if we want to achieve everything, then there will be a little bit of unrest.
But, the overall balance, we get peace from those things. For example, the example of music. What happens is that, some music makes our mind peaceful.
Some music makes us calm. Those two things go toward God, they give us peace. But, not only truth, we get meaning from that.
Meaning means, we get a purpose. How is it? Now, all of us have some talent, some ability, some talent. So, when we are in the beginning, we want to get recognition from this talent.
The world should know, how good I am. And, why am I so proud? The world is so big, so you think, I am so small, no one even knows me. So, first, we want recognition from the talent.
But, slowly, what happens is, we want that, I can make some contribution from that talent. I have some ability, with that, I can make some positive impact in someone's life. So, if I get recognition from that, then it is good.
But, recognition is not our driving motive. So, when we have a purpose, motive or purpose, that purpose increases. It elevates.
So, if we are going towards God with something, then what happens is, we get inner happiness. So, we get inner happiness. So, we are not so dependent on the external happiness.
We are not so dependent on that. So, if we… Like, there are some things, and all these people like music, some people do music, some people play instruments, some people sing. It is natural that the world is like that.
Some people are like that, if they see someone, they say, there is so much happiness in this, I just need this. So, begin. So, what is that? The gifts that God has given us, if they are such that we get satisfaction in doing them.
It is a good thing to get something good out of it. But, that brings us to the last part, happiness. That is, pleasure.
That, when we are doing something, if we are doing it towards God, in the spirit of serving God, then whether we get recognition from the world or not, we should get more recognition in that. Like, I was telling you that, there is a father, he goes to a big house for his child, where there is a playground. So, now, that desire, is it taking him closer to his child, or is it taking him away? How will it happen? If, because of that desire, he is always irritated, he says, this is not happening, there is no business going on here, there is no profit going on here, and he comes home, and he is with the child, so he is irritated.
So, what happens is, that desire, is taking him away from his child. So, if we are doing something for God, we are going towards God, then, in a way, the proof, the evidence, the proof will be that, we will be more satisfied. So, we will be cheerful.
So, these three things, peace, purpose, and pleasure. Yes, please. There is a question behind.
Abhikrishna, thank you for such an enlightening question. So, my question was around the, you know, the consciousness. So, you know, if, basically, nirvana state, suggests that we will be liberated from illusions of consciousness, then how do we maybe realize, when we have maybe attained nirvana state? Okay.
So, when, when can we know that we are enlightened? When can, when can we understand that, we have attained liberation, the consciousness on the heart. Now, the consciousness, there are two things, there is consciousness, and then there is the content of consciousness. Content means, what is inside our consciousness? So, suppose, this is my phone, so, if I switch on the flashlight here, so, what is there now? The bulb of this flashlight, is like the soul.
The light coming from it, is like the consciousness. And this light, suppose there is complete darkness here, so, what is visible in this light, that, it is the content of consciousness. So, the consciousness is the content of consciousness.
So, the content of consciousness, the content of consciousness, keeps us discontent. What is happening in our consciousness, keeps us discontent. This happens in many ways.
So, our attachment, all of us are attached to different things. So, what can we be attached to? If we want to understand this, then we can see, that, what do I think of, when I have nothing to think of? That, when I have nothing to think of, then where does my thought go? What do I think of, when I have nothing to think of? maybe our thoughts go towards money, our thoughts go towards cricket, our thoughts go towards passion, our thoughts go towards our family, our thoughts go towards hell. So, the content of our consciousness, that is inside our consciousness, that is purified.
That is purified, that is elevated. So, what does elevated mean? That which is unchanging, that which is not going to change, what does that mean? So, that much we are eternal. We are eternal.
So, Goita says, Machitaha, what does it mean? The consciousness of the entitled, resides in me. But, what is the home of our consciousness? It can be money, what does home mean? Like, if we don't have to go anywhere, we go home. So, similarly, if we don't have to do anything, we go home.
So, what is our home? So, when God becomes the home of our consciousness, means, when we have nothing to think of, our thoughts go towards God. And then, the peace, purpose, pleasure, we feel it on our own. So, when that happens, then we can say, more or less, that we are in the state of enlightenment.
So, at that time, it's not that we are not conscious of anything in this world. We are conscious, but we are not so affected by it. We are not so separated from it.
Last question. You have a question there? Hi, Krishna. I heard you say previously in some video that not everything happens as per God's will, but requires His permission.
Yes. Can you elaborate on that? It's a big question. In fact, Kalpana is saying that whatever happens, it happens by God's will.
On one hand, it's right, but when we use the word, God's will, when we use the word, sometimes it can mean intention, sometimes it can mean permission. How is it? God, is the supreme controller. He is Param Ishwar.
He is not the soul controller. God has given us His will. And what does it mean? It means that we can do something according to our will.
And if someone does something, it's not that every time he does what God wants him to do. Every person's ability to do something comes from God. So, God is the cause of all causes.
He is the cause of all causes. If a thief steals, his ability to steal comes from God. But God has not given him the will to steal.
It's his own will. He has made it his own. So, God is the cause of all causes, but not the cause of all effects.
How is it? Now, we know that when gambling was played in Mahabharata, that's when Draupadi's Vastrahan Khandi was tried. It was a very difficult time. Now, the power of Dushshasan, Dushshasan's strength, that came from God.
But the will of Dushshasan did not come from God. It was his own evil will. And what did he do with his evil will? Now, how does it happen? Now, God is the supreme controller.
But in that, God has given us the power to control everyone to some extent. So, when we have the power to control, according to our past actions, we all have it. Some people have a small area.
If I shout something, maybe some people will get scared. If the president of America or Russia shouts, and says that I will press the nuclear button, the whole world will get scared. So, the area of different people is different.
So, if another person gets trapped in that person's area, then that person will be mistreated. So, God did not do that. Because that will not happen without God's permission.
And God has given this person the power to mistreat him. And he was mistreated only with God's permission. But permission and desire are two different things.
So, God is the permitter of everything. He is not the desirer of everything. Now, Krishna did not want a war.
And Krishna wanted peace because there was no war. But Duryodhana did not listen to him. Duryodhana did not listen to him.
So, when there is adversity in our life, then what is the relationship between adversity and God? There can be three relationships. Is God the cause of it? Is it possible? Or is it not possible? That person's. What Duryodhana did to his uncle, can happen to him.
So, whatever problem God has, its ultimatum is to be cured. And at the same time, God is also our comfort. No matter how big the problem is, if I listen to God in that problem, then greater than the world's power to work is Krishna's power to lead.
So, in this way, the bad things that happen to us, it is not that God wants it to happen. God is not the cause. But at that time, it is not that God is above us and we do not even know what is happening to us.
God is with us. He is in our heart. And God will give us the power to face it.
And God will take us beyond it. Thank you very much. Shreemad Bhagavad Gita Ki Jai! Shreemad Bhagavad Gita Ki Jai!
