Dhoni’s stepping down and seeing the big picture
Dhoni steps down as India's ODI captain some cause happiness wherever they go others whenever they go Oscar Wilde whereas Oscar Wilde talks about these are two different categories of people some people who are so much agents of happiness that wherever they go people become happy to see them and others people consider as a burden that when will this person go away and then they feel happy the life the complexity of life is such that rather than there being two distinct categories of people like this which is true it can also be that the same person goes from one category to another category that the person who is the toast of the nation especially this happens in sports it happens in any field in which there is a lot of glamour there is a lot of fame lot of prestige the same person who is glamorized and made it the champion one day and there are thousands even millions looking longing for just one glance maybe one autograph from that category if there is a slump in form if there is one bad performance or a series of bad performances the same thing can fall terribly others wherever they go the same person can fall in that category where wherever they go people seeing them become agitated become frustrated so in 2011 India won the world cup and the whole country celebrated in a practically unprecedented way on winning that world cup but just four years earlier 2007 when India could not go beyond the qualifiers itself and when they were knocked out even before reaching the post qualifying rounds at that time the effigies of many of these cricketers were burnt and their houses were pelted so it is a cruel world the world of high performance and high fame is also a cruel world and recognize and that principle applies to all of us also so to recognize when enough is enough that is not an easy skill it is better that one leaves when people want one to stay rather than one stays on till people want one to leave and one is pushed out so an honourable exit is actually far more dignified than a forced exit and this requires detachment attachment is what distorts our perspective making us hold on to things even when we are not able to make any tangible contribution with those things as detachment enables us to see as long as I can contribute with these things I will hold on to it when I am not able to contribute let me move on to other things in life and this detachment is a stellar virtue which comes when we have a higher value a higher purpose to life than just the specific thing that we are engaged with or attached to that higher vision of life comes from a spiritual understanding when we have a spiritual understanding of life then we understand that there is more to me than what the world sees there is more to me than what the world glamorizes so I will endure even when the world's vision and the world's glamour ceases and when one focuses on the core me then one can actually contribute the best as long as one is able to contribute and one can live in a dignified way.
