Appreciating our spiritual identity can anchor us amid the turbulence of contemporary society 02.16
In a world afloat Within the stormy ocean of Identity confusion Realizing our spirituality Can be a calming anchor In today’s world People grow up bereft of Many of the supports That grounded and Guided their Formation of identity And the development of their Individuality For example, many people Grow up in broken families Where they have The love of just One parent Often with the father Absent or even unknown Even when the single parents Are sincere And competent Still they can’t provide One parent can’t provide The combination of Conditional and unconditional Love that is Essential for The holistic growth of a child Beyond the disorientation Caused by The absence of two parents Many children Grow up without many Or even any siblings And thus the Socialization that can happen at Home through interacting with Siblings is lost And is often replaced by Playing games on One’s iPad and watching Cartoons on TV Going even further In a hyper-sexualized culture Children often Grow up with great sexual insecurity Where in the Insecurity is not just about Their capacity to find A suitable partner For dating and eventually Mating but Also about their very Gender because The cultures over Emphasize in glamorization of Gender fluidity simply Ends up becoming one More giant Stormy wave in The turbulent ocean That is the mental And social life of A child growing into Adulthood in today’s world Being thus buffeted It is no wonder that children Grow up into rebellious Teenagers and Eventually Malformed adults who Struggle to find A stable place Or a meaningful purpose In the world Amid this stormy sea If people can understand That they are essentially Spiritual beings who are Indestructible and are transcendental To their Families and societies The very unchangeability of their Spiritual essence can become An anchor around Which they can stabilize Their inner and outer Worlds of course Just intellectually understanding Oneself to be a spiritual being Doesn’t undo The wounds caused by The past But it does give one A pathway to healing And if We build on the Spiritual sense of identity By connecting with the supreme Spiritual reality Krishna And experience The proximity and affinity Of his constant Inner presence Then that can Give us the strength To do what it takes To move beyond The wounds of the past And create a Meaningful future for ourselves That is founded and fueled In our essential spirituality Not our Circumstantial Inadequacy Thank you
