Can one person have true love for other person in material world?
Hare Krishna Question from Premraj Guru Love in the material world is temporary, but can one person have true love for another person in the material world? Answer, yes, it is definitely possible for two people to love each other in this world now whether that love is real or not depends on how we define the world real in the fourth canto of Srimad Bhagavatam when Dhruv Maharaj's mother, Suniti is guiding him to go to the forest to seek Lord Vishnu she tells him that whatever love I have offered you Lord Vishnu can offer you more love than what millions of mothers like me can offer now this indicates two things first is that the Lord's love for us is far far greater than the love of anyone in this world but secondly, it also indicates that the love of this world is also real if the love of this world were just zero, were just false, then there is no point in saying millions of times more than zero because millions of times more than zero is still zero so the love of this world is also real, but it is fractional just like a drop of water contains water but it is only a small fraction of what is present in the ocean similarly, the love that people can have, all of us are parts of Krishna so the love that we can offer to each other is a part it's like a drop of the ocean so this is real in the sense that we may feel attraction for each other and to a large extent, in some cases this attraction can also be somewhat selfless we truly care for others, just as Prabhupada would say that the most nearest to selfless love that comes in this world is the love of a mother for a child but even when this love is there this love is not unreal in the sense that it is not that we are faking those emotions but it is unreal in the sense that it is not lasting it is based on an incomplete or incorrect understanding of the person we think of the person to be the body or attributes related with the body and not the real person the soul and this attraction fades when those bodily attributes fade and that's why it doesn't last and so it is not lasting and it is also not fulfilling because actually the love we can offer anyone is limited because we ourselves are limited but when we connect ourselves with Krishna so all the two people are over here, they have a horizontal relationship but along with that each of them has a vertical relationship then the love that they express to each other is not just their love for Krishna but it will become their love for each other but it also becomes Krishna's love coming through them to the other person and then this is how our mutual relationships can become spiritualized and devotionalized and then they become far more enriching and fulfilling than the most intense loving relationship in this world wherein there is no connection with God so therefore the love that we feel for each other can be real in the sense that we have those emotions of affection but it can be made eternally real when we bring Krishna in the center and we love Krishna and then we learn to love each other in relationship with Krishna.
