Can we take charanamrita when curd is forbidden during Chaturmasya?
Hare Krishna question do during chaturmas when we are not supposed to take curd if can we take charanamrut because the charanamrut contains curd so is it allowed to take that answer charanamrut is actually the abhishek the havi the remnants after the sacrifice after the worship we can say so that which is directly connected with the worship of the lord that is always sacred and that can be taken now there are rules of our fasting and of course chaturmas when we avoid a particular kind of food that is also a kind of fast so in the hari bhakti vilas 1200 it is described that ashtaitani avrata jnani apo mulam phalam paya havir brahmana kamyacha gurur vacanam avshadham so these eight items do not break a fast ashtaitani avrata jnani so apo mulam phalam paya so apo is water mulam is roots phalam is fruits paya is milk havi is things which are offered to the lord especially in a special special ceremony like say abhishek which will include charanamrut brahmana kamya so offerings usually very dear to the brahmana like ghee curd etc gurur vacanam and the spiritual master tells us take this food then taking that food does not break a fast avshadham and also medicines so when we take medicine actually we don't break the fast because the purpose of taking the medicine is not sense enjoyment the purpose of fasting actually is to avoid sense gratification and if we are fasting if we take medicine or we take any of these items if the motive is to follow the instruction of scripture or follow the instruction of higher authorities purification then even taking these does not comprise breaking the fast so yes in even in chaturmas if we take curd during the month when we are supposed to take not supposed to take curd just taking curd will be breaking the fast but in charanamrut it will not comprise breaking the fast thank you.
