Can you explain what is sphurti?

Question, what exactly is sphurti? Answer, sphurti means spontaneous remembrance of Krishna that comes upon us irrespective of our effort. So in the Bhaktira Samyukta Sundu, a verse is quoted from the Puranas, अतः श्वी कृष्ण नामादि नभवेद ग्राये मिल्ये सेवो नुखे ही जीवादो स्वयनेव स्वृत्यदा So अतः श्वी कृष्ण नामादि नभवेद ग्राये मिल्ये So Krishna's names and Adati's name is Krishna, we cannot perceive them with the gross senses.

So when you want to perceive the deities or beauty, it's not just by seeing with the eyes, seeing with the eyes is one thing. But सेवो नुखे ही जीवादो By सेवा, we become उन्मुक. Currently Krishna is there in our hearts, but we have turned away from Him.

We have become वीमुक. So we become उन्मुक towards Krishna. सेवो नुखे ही जीवादो, beginning with the tongue.

We chant Hare Krishna, we take Krishna Pasa. By this, when we do सेवा and we turn towards Krishna. Now remembrance of Krishna, स्मर्ण of Krishna is also a सेवा of Krishna.

When I chant, I will remember. When we hear Krishna Tatha, we will be remembering Krishna. But this is the part of सेवा.

But after this, Krishna says, when we turn towards Krishna in this way, then स्वयमेव, स्वयमेव means spontaneously, of its own accord. Of its own accord means by Krishna's way. स्वयमेव स्वृत्यतः स्वृत्यतः means Krishna manifests.

So that absolute truth manifests. So, this स्वृत्य is something which comes spontaneously. And because it comes spontaneously, it cannot, it will not always be consistent.

It will be occasional. So sometimes when you come in front of the deities, you feel, oh, deities are so beautiful. Other time you come in front of deities, you think, when will Govindamadi Purusha get over? I want to just move a little bit.

So how long will I do it? So why does this happen? Because we don't have, right now, strong devotion to Krishna. Sometimes that स्वृत्य comes and then we feel joy. When the स्वृत्य doesn't come, then we may not feel that joy.

But still, if we keep remembering Krishna, steadily, as a seva, we'll become purified. And Bhaktivinoda Swami has inscribed that eventually we come to a level called स्थाईभाव. स्थाईभाव means steady emotion.

So when we come to स्थाईभाव, at that time, we experience devotional emotions at all times, irrespective of whatever be the circumstance. At all times, there will be that joyous remembrance of Krishna. So right now, as a seva, we do स्मर्ण, and occasionally we experience पूर्ति, and then eventually we come to स्थाईभाव, where we will consistently experience the remembrance of Krishna as पूर्ति.
