CC daily 10 – CCM 4.26-31 Krishna takes pride in providing for all in his village
Chaitanya Charita Amrit Madhya Lila, text 26 Balakera Saundarya Purira Haila Santosh Tahara Madhura Vakya Gela Bhok Shosh So Balakera Saundarya on seeing the beauty of this child Purira Haila Santosh Puri felt satisfied, contented.
Tahara Madhura Vakya and hearing his sweet words Gela Bhok Shosh that his hunger and thirst disappeared. Now Madhavendra Puri at this point did not realize that this was Lord Krishna, but still whether there is a conscious awareness of the perception of Krishna or there is no conscious awareness of the perception of Krishna, but when there is perception of Krishna, even if there is no recognition rather, if there is a perception of Krishna and especially if one is devotionally inclined, then it can have miraculous effects. So it all depends on the Lord's will and how the Lord wants to orchestrate his pastimes.
But essentially the key point is that here Krishna wanted him to get an extraordinary spiritual experience and a part of that spiritual experience was he was going to be a part of the re-manifestation of Gopal Deity, but before that also the Lord started performing enchanting pastimes with him and just as soon as Madhavendra Puri took darshan of Lord Krishna in this balak, he did not realize it was Krishna, but still he was so delighted and the spiritual delight was so great that he lost all desire for food or water. He was so contented, so satisfied by the darshan of the Lord that the concern about food and water just disappeared from him. Just like we know in Vrindavan also it happened in Govardhan Leela.
This pastime is also happening next to Govardhan Leela. The Brajwasis were so absorbed in Krishna that they did not think of food and things like that. But here it is described that although he was not thinking of food, the Lord was thinking about him and that Lord was so lovingly beholding him.
When he saw the Lord, even although he was not thinking of food, there was some sensation over there in his body, that sensation also disappeared. The 27th verse Puri kahe ketumi kaha tomar vasa, ke mate jaane le ami kari upavasa So imagine we go to some place and suddenly somebody comes and brings food for us. We will be surprised.
Similarly, Madhavendra Puri was surprised and he says ketumi puri kahe, he starts speaking who are you? kaha tomar vasa, where do you reside? ke mate jaane le how did you come to know ami kari upavasa that I was fasting today? So he asks three questions. Who are you? Where have you come from? How did you know that I was fasting? So these are all logical questions which we would ask someone who was, who suddenly brought something for us. Where are you coming from? Kaha tomar vasa? So naturally Madhavendra Puri asked these questions although he was tired, although he was hungry, but still the ecstasy that he experienced on seeing the Lord was so extraordinary that he felt I need to know and that is also a matter of normal courtesy Who are you? So he asked Where have you come from? So then, let's see what the Lord replies balak kahe gopa ami ehi grame vasi amare grame tekeh na rahe upavasi balak kahe gopa ami I am just a gopa So now Krishna is playing with his devotee and Krishna doesn't reveal his identity that I am Krishna and nor does he give a misleading identity does not go about giving any other name, he simply says gopa ami and ehi grame vasi, I reside in this very ground amare grame tekeh na rahe upavasi, amara grame tekeh in my village nobody fasts this is amazing Krishna's spirit, Krishna is telling he is not making it as a request to devotees he is not making it as a mandate for the rulers he is saying this as a aspiration of his heart that those who are in Vrindavan nobody in Vrindavan should fast and he says, now we will see that this is revealed later as not just a matter of his his pride but it is a matter of the sense of honour that all the villagers shared so this can be understood on both levels, Krishna desires that nobody in Vrindavan fasts and also he desires that those who are Vrajavasis they take pride in their piety and they ensure that nobody in their village fasts so keha anna magi khaya keha dugda ahara ayache kajane ami diye te ahara so keha anna magi khaya keha dugda ahara some people ask for grains and then they eat food anna can refer specifically to grains or it can refer generally to food some people ask for food and they eat the food or others eat simply milk keha dugda ahara ayache kajane ami diye te ahara and some people are ayachak if some people are not willing to ask for anything then for those who do not ask for anything for them I care for and I provide for them by ayache kajane ayache kajana means request ayache kajane means those who do not even make a request so Krishna says that these people are so observant that they don't make any request and I myself will go and provide for them ami diye te ahara I will go and give you food so in this world we all have to arrange for our own food in the biblical tradition there is a statement so the idea is that even for our bread we depend on God and we work hard and then after that we hope that everything else will work out, we will have a salary and we will have food but for those who are so observant Krishna they just think that everything else is a waste of time why should I waste my time like this and therefore they not bother for food not even go about asking for food in that case Krishna turns their offerings of here Krishna says that somebody is in a dangerous situation not having food and the lord himself goes and provides food so ami diye te ahara yogakshema bahamya by the promise of 9.22 that I provide what they lack godohane karite chahi shigra miyabi aarabhar shriyami ee bhandalai godohane karite chahi now I need to go and take care of the cows shigra miyabi soon I will come back aarabhar when I come back again at that time ee bhandalai I will come and take this pot from you so now after introducing himself the cowherd boy was looking very sweet and very gentle but he meant business he said oh I have to go and milk the cows soon so I will leave now but I will come back to collect the pot so here we see Krishna after answering the question of mother Indra Puri and captivating his heart now Krishna says I will depart I will leave.
