CC daily 4 – CCM 4.7-9 – Avoid conflicts by strategy, humility and prayer
Loving reciprocation between them thank you in chaitanya mangal krishna the book of vrindavan das thakur was known as chaitanya mangal originally but later on when it was understood in the devotee community that he was chaitanya leela ravyaas shri vrindavan das that he was vyasa dev in chaitanya leela then his book was renamed as chaitanya bhagavata because vyasa dev was the author of the bhagavata so here in generally that sort of that sort of re-christianing of the book happened later so krishna s k rajagoswami frequently refers to the book as book of chaitanya of vrindavan das thakur as chaitanya mangal although it is precisely it is chaitanya bhagavata as it is known today so whatever yeah whatever is described in chaitanya mangal in just in a condensed form sutra was a is a literary composition in sanskrit in which truths are expressed very concisely so he's using that sutra conception to convey that what has been described there i have not described again sutra means actually indication practically i'll just point to it i'll indicate it so in the previous verses he has described that it would be arrogant for me to repeat to do punarukti repetition of what has been spoken by vrindavan das thakur so now he is describing his literary strategy in avoiding such arrogance so his goal is to ensure the glorification lord happens and at the same time it is done by him in a mood of service so he's outlining the literary strategy that what has been described elaborately i will only indicate now why there is a need to indicate it also because it's a biography and a biography a certain certain amount of linear flow is expected so there cannot be sudden huge leaps in chronology in a biography and so to avoid that he is going to mention those past times but because they have been described he won't describe them elaborately tandra sutra so tandra sutra then by him vrindavan thakur not has not been described so some of in his book he has not described it so past times so some of them so whatever he has not described there so those past times i will describe here so he's continuing to outline his literary strategy stating that what has been described there that will only be indicated here but what has not been described there will be elaborately described here so thus the two books are complementary complementary means that one completes the other so they are complementary in describing lord chaitanya's past times and making that nectar accessible to us attaiva tandrapaya kari namaskar tandrapaya apradha nahuka amar so attaiva therefore tandrapaya unto his lotus feet unto his feet kari namaskar i offer obeisances so you know obeisances can also be contextual and they can be much more meaningful when they are offered in a particular context this chapter began with krishna offering obeisances to madhavendra puri and then to lord chaitanya, lord dityananda, avidacharya and gaurabhakta and other devotees then he seemed to suddenly have stopped offering obeisances and started describing chaitanya bhagwat's author vrindavan das thakur but now he's giving the background he's giving the background and in that context he's describing that i'm offering obeisances now attaiva tandrapaya unto his lotus feet kari namaskar i offer my obeisances tandrapaya apradha nahuka amar he's unto his feet let there be no offense on my part in general in the devotee circle an offense is something which we are all fearful of because offense can destroy our devotion and the way to avoid destruction of our devotion is by avoiding offenses so krishna das gaviraj goswami although as we see in the chaitanya jagat amrit has phenomenal literary talent and intellectual capacity but he knows all that is of no consequence as compared to spiritual potency and he doesn't want to displease any vaishnava especially his venerable senior krishna das gaviraj goswami and therefore he's praying over here let there be no offense from me at his lotus feet so he's outlined his literary strategy and by the strategy itself it's clear that he's not going to commit any offense but even with the best of strategies sometimes some offense can occur so he is saying that my disposition is i'm offering obeisances and i'm praying that i'm hoping that let there be no offense unto his lotus feet so here we see a two-fold resourcefulness on this part of krishna das gaviraj goswami that first is he has a clear plan for action and then he has also clear he also is having a contingency plan in the sense of apologizing and hoping or rather not apologizing so much he's offering obey humbling himself and hoping that so this is also a good example for us in our service sometimes when we have to do a particular service that it is possible that we may be encroaching on some other devotee's territory either physically or conceptually or whatever so then when there is a potential for conflict misunderstanding and hard feelings we should avoid that by first of all having a clear strategy it's not that because we are devotees and everything goes even devotees have emotions human emotions and we have to be sensitive so there has to be a plan a proper strategy to ensure that there are no misunderstandings and conflicts we see that even the pandavas although they're the best of friends they were they were very close brothers and they were very close friends to each other but still when they all married Draupadi narada muni came and he outlined a strategy for them of how they would be sharing Draupadi and then he told a story of two demons who got attracted to same tulatthama and then how they fought and killed each other because over her so the point is that good intentions should not be just kept in abstraction good intentions especially when there is a possibility of conflict needs to be brought into the realm of practicality through well delineated actions well delineated strategy and even up and we shouldn't think that the strategy alone is a solution then we also should humble ourselves and hope pray for a devotee when a devotee hopes that means the devotee is actually implicitly praying to krishna to protect the devotee so that way we can minimize conflicts we can avoid unnecessary heartburns and in that we live in a world where we cannot live in isolation there will be some interaction there will be some interlapping and there can be conflicts but by having in place a strategy to avoid conflict and further having humility as well as prayer as our further weapons we can minimize conflict to the greatest possible extent thank you.
