CC daily 44 – M 4.175-177 – Know that Krishna knows the challenges we face

And how that journey went on, we will discuss in our future talks. Thank you. खड़ पूर चन्न नहीं हान्दर, अङ्गे चड़ाईला। So, Lord Chaitanya is describing how Madhavendra Puri served the Lord.

Three verses before he has stated that there is no one as fortunate as Madhavendra Puri. Now, one aspect of that fortune is how the Lord acted wonderfully in his life. Gave him darshan as a Gopal, as a cowherd boy, came in his dream and then stood here for it.

Now, the fortune relationships are a two-way street. And that's why fortune in bhakti is not just in what the Lord does for us, but also in what we do for the Lord. So, accordingly, he states over here, खड़ पूर चन्न नहीं हान्दर, अङ्गे चड़ाईला। So, this Madhavendra Puri arranged for Karpur and Chandan to be offered to the Lord in profuse quantities, something which was very rare, something which was not usually done.

He arranged to have that done. Yes, the tradition of offering Chandan to the Lord was there, but Chandan was a rare commodity and it was not available easily. And certainly, it was not available profusely.

But such profuse distribution of Chandan was done by the Lord. खड़ पूर चन्द नहीं हान्दर, अङ्गे चड़ाईला। On his form, on his body, it was offered. आनन्दे पूरी गोसाई, प्रेम उठाईला। And service is not just an expression of affection, it also results in intensification of affection.

Service not only expresses affection, it also intensifies affection. Why? Because it is through actions that love is deepened and thickened. When a mother sees a child, she feels love for the child, but when a mother takes up the baby and starts breastfeeding it, in the actions of love, there is deepening of the love.

So similarly, Madhavendra Puri always was permeated, his consciousness was permeated with love for Krishna. But when he expressed that love, then it deepened. And that's why it's said that when he would see, when he would offer Chandan to the Lord, then प्रेम उठाईला। The love of God that was there in his heart, which is normally like a silent grey ocean, but it now, that oceanic love within him rose, and that love became thicker, sweeter, deeper.

प्रेम उठाईला। So sometimes when we don't feel affection for the Lord, when we don't feel bhakti, the key is to keep serving Him, because if we keep serving Him, gradually we'll start feeling the affection. The way to feeling affection is not just by hoping that it will come automatically, rather we have to wait for it to come, we have to strive for it to come, and we strive for it by using whatever affection we have, using and expressing the affection accordingly. So now after describing that, Madhavendra Puri offered Chandan, now what was so special about the offering of Chandan, that is mentioned now subsequently, मिलेच्छ देशे करपूर चंदन आनित जंजाल। पूरी दुख पाबे इह जानीय गोपाल। मिलेच्छ देशे करपूर चंदन आनित जंजाल। मिलेच्छ देशे, in the country of the Mlecchas, to get Chandan, Karpuru Chandan, आनित जंजाल। There will be a lot of complications.

पूरी दुख पाबे इह जानीय गोपाल। पूरी दुख पाबे। Because there will be a lot of complications in taking the Chandan out of the Mleccha Desha, in taking the Chandan out of the rule of the Muslims. First of all, the Muslims, in general, did not accept deity worship. Not only rejected it, but they also considered it to be a source of unmitigated evil.

So, that's why often whenever they would conquer any kingdom, they would want to destroy that kingdom. So, in such a time, and not just in such a time, but in such a time, in a place close to Vrindavan, all of which was under Mleccha rule. So, at such a time, for Madhavendra Puri, to arrange for the Lord's worship was an extraordinary accomplishment.

That he even had the courage to try to do it was extraordinary. What to speak of is actually going about arranging it. So, he overcame herculean obstacles to travel all the way and then to procure Chandan.

But now, going through Bengal to North India, where there was Muslim rule, was going to be difficult. So, therefore, what the Lord did was, the Lord arranged something special for him. The Lord intervened.

And that will be mentioned here. That it was Janjal, it would be very complicated. The natural antipathy of the Mlecchas towards deity worship would have made it nearly very complicated for him to take the Chandan from there.

So, So, for Gopal, the Lord knew that form of Puri. Dukh Dukhe Janiya, Dukha Bhabhe, a lot of difficulty, a lot of misery. The Lord Gopal knew this.

So, Janiya Gopal. So, what happened over here is that Madhavendra Puri was determined. He was determined to serve and whatever difficulties were there, the Lord knew those difficulties.

And we should know that the Lord knows. Sometimes when we may have difficulties in our Bhakti, for whatever reason the difficulties may come in, they may be because of our past karma or whatever. We should know that Janiya Gopal, that Krishna knows our difficulties.

Krishna is aware of our difficulties and when we keep serving Him in spite of those difficulties, Krishna appreciates that. And that appreciation of Krishna is sure. Because whereas in this world, sometimes we do something for someone and that person is not even aware that we have done something for them.

But it's not like that with Krishna. Krishna is always aware and He is not only aware, He is also merciful. So, the Lord is extremely merciful.

And He is Bhaktavatsal. He is very affectionate to His devotees. Chandanapari bhaktashrama kareela safal Chandanapari So, by accepting the Chandan, just in Ramuna itself, instead of having to carry the Chandan all the way to Govardhan, Chandanapari, He accepted the Chandan.

He wore the Chandan. Bhaktashrama kareela safal And He made the endeavors of His devotees successful. So, Krishna strives to make a devotee's endeavor successful.

That is what Krishna wants to do. Chandanapari bhaktashrama kareela safal We, when we practice bhakti, if we keep this in mind, that when we are facing difficulties, actually Krishna knows those difficulties. And Krishna.
