Daily-Bhagavatam 57 – 11.07.47 – Don’t let limitation of expression become limitation of intention

Because so so it is manifested by the Lord through his own energy material energy so the soul is manifested in exalted position like a demigod or is placed in a degraded position like that of a animal and then once having entered acts accordingly so now the Lord also manifests here something interesting is being said that in the bodies of the living entities it is the Lord who manifests entering into those just as fire manifests in various flames small and big pieces of wood like that the Lord manifests in all bodies now here the point is that Krishna does not differentiate between small and big living beings but he accompanies everyone and he is there now the living entities are also his parts in one sense they are not different from him although of course they are energies they are infinite whereas Krishna is infinite so in that sense there is difference but on another level the two are one because we are all a part all living beings are parts of Krishna so here Krishna's love is seen that he accompanies all all living beings whatever be their position he is there with them always and what does he do with them he enables all of them to act according to their level and gradually especially when they come to the human form then he enables them in the human form to move closer to him and to ultimately attain him so in this way actually he manifests his great mercy to all living beings so we need to see beyond the external containers external bodies to the actual substance the soul who is accompanied by the supreme substance the supreme lord the super soul now the point of talking about big and small pieces of food is that at one level a big piece of food will manifest big flame and a small piece of food will manifest small flame but another level both are actually manifesting the same fire so like that at external level a soul in an exalted body and a soul in a insignificant body they appear different because of the strength and the position of that body but the souls are essentially the same and the same super soul is accompanying both of them now what does this imply for us at the very least it implies that we don't commit violence against other living beings for we know they are all having souls like us at other level we understand that whatever be the external differences we shouldn't get infatuated I may be a millionaire right now but this is just my external shell I may be an intellectual right now but even being an intellectual is an external shell it will be there for some time and it will be gone afterwards so rather than getting excited let me stay focused on Krishna on seeing the substance beyond the appearance and thereby moving onward steadily towards Krishna now what exactly can we do to get the spiritual vision first is there is philosophical education and then there is devotional realization so when we study scripture repeatedly we keep getting reminded that there is no point in me getting enamored by people's bodily shells just because a person is a millionaire moving in a big car and another person is just walking on foot into the temple that does not mean that one soul is more dear to Krishna and another is less dear yes some souls may be in positions where they can do greater service to Krishna and if they show a willingness to do certainly we can offer them some special attention that is not discrimination that is reciprocation Krishna says as all people surrender to me I reward accordingly so in that sense that principle of reciprocation is perfectly valid and we do reciprocate depending on how people are positioned and inclined to service position means that they have the ability they have the resources to serve they have the desire to serve sometimes a person who may seem to be in a very unnoticeable body in a very insignificant social position may also have a very great desire to serve Krishna and although that person may not be able to do a lot of service but still Krishna will be pleased by that intention to serve just as he was pleased by the tiny squirrel's attempt to help in building the bridge also just as he was pleased with Hanuman's attempt although from the external point of view Hanuman's attempt contributed substantially to the building of the bridge whereas the squirrel's contribution was next to nothing but Lord Rama saw the endeavour so yes if somebody has a lot of capacity, resources to serve certainly we can offer them some attention so that greater service can be done to Krishna but even if somebody does not have a lot of facilities to serve some person has just the inclination the intention, the desire to serve then that also needs to be appreciated and facilitated in whatever small way is required and possible so in this way the whole point is that we can see everyone's Krishna connection rather than seeing their connection only with their external temporary situations we see their connection with Krishna and we see our connection with Krishna and then we act accordingly so whether I am in a big position or I am in a small position essentially I am connected with Krishna and that is my actual position and when I act accordingly then I will be able to stay well situated situated in a way that my connection with Krishna will eventually become an eternal connection and I will be transferred to the spiritual world so the point is that we see the substance of the fire beyond the fire is coming so like that we see beyond the particular bodily forms that are there to the substance the soul and the Lord who is there with the soul and loves the soul and see their mutual relationship as the central element of reality and see everything else as subordinate to that central reality this is what the brahmana is telling Maharaj Yadu that this is how he acquires spiritual vision and this is how we can also acquire spiritual vision Thank you.
