Daily-Bhagavatam 74 – 11.07.64 – Direct affection where it will bring satisfaction, not affliction
So the mother and father pigeon had gone out to search for food for their infants in the meanwhile the hunter came and trapped all the birdlets in his nest so now it's inscribed that he and she bird praja poshe sadotsukau praja poshe praja is those who are born from them ja so that is the their progeny poshe for their maintenance poshana sadotsukau utsakau utsaha enthusiastic so they were always enthusiastic for taking care of their progeny for maintaining their progeny gatau poshanam aadaya so they had gone gatau poshanam to get food aadaya and having obtained it bringing it they came back svanidam upajagmat svanidam nida refers to nest their own nest they started approaching you know parents have constant anxiety for their children quite often when a child goes to school the mother may be filled with anxiety oh will the vehicle take them safely will there might be there's an accident will the children be abducted by someone will they themselves fall while playing so the mother often prays for the safety and the well-being of the children and that anxiety at one level is natural because of love in fact if there were no anxiety then there might be a question is there any love at all so of course the anxiety is accompanied with activity that means the mother trains the children to be careful she trains them don't accept any food from strangers don't walk away with strangers don't even sometimes talk with strangers and like that don't cross the road without looking properly in both directions so this sort of anxiety rather than allowing it to just exhaust us internally we can generalize it into activity to deal with the anxiety so that is of course when the mother is at home and the children are going out now in this case children were at home and the mother and the father were out so they are like a double income family the husband and the wife are working the children were too small yet to go to school so they are just playing basically and the parents come back home now human society for children we have babysitters if we don't have relatives like grandmothers or someone the grandmothers can act as babysitters or babysitters are hired sometimes just for keeping an eye on the children to care for the children now in this case in the animal world in the human world we take much more care of children at one level than in the animal world of course all progeny require care of their parents very few other progeny that just are born and start taking care of themselves and this is the arrangement of nature by which a bond of affection is created and the bond of affection ensures the survival and growth of the next generation so the parents actually partake in the creative instinct and they become sort of co-creators with God in bringing new life and naturally they feel affection towards their towards the creature which they have co-created of course we are co-creators God is the primary creator and of course the word creation itself is at one level false because the soul is never created the body is created by the arrangement of God through the instruments of the male and female so and of course most of the affection in these relationships is towards the body the lower species don't even know about the soul and many humans don't know about the soul but the fact is birth and life that is created at that time is a miracle and not only is the process a miracle not only is the product a miracle but the subsequent attachment is also amazing now the parents were naturally enthusiastic to take care of their children so by naturally I mean it is the order of nature by which it happens and they had little idea of the devastation that was going to befall them when they returned to their nest they found that as we will see in the next verses their beloved little babies were all imprisoned shackled in the nest and then from the nest they had gone to the net the nest was the place of shelter and the net was the place of disaster and the parents were bringing food and eagerly waiting to see their children we have the in the Krishnalila described especially now in Champu anywhere in Gopalchampu to some extent when Krishna returns from the forest at that time mother Yashoda is eagerly waiting and such a joyful reunion Krishna runs into the embrace of mother Yashoda mother Yashoda runs towards him and they hug each other Yashoda falls on her knees to come to Krishna's side they hug each other tightly and Yashoda lifts Krishna up when he's small and holds him tight to her bosom delighted relieved ecstatic to be reunited with her beloved son so that principle of affection between the mother and the child the child and the mother is is natural and eternal in the spiritual world when it is directed between the soul and between the soul and Vatsalya and Krishna and that is the that relationship with Krishna is the purpose and perfection of all emotions but in this world when we are directed when we have forgotten our spiritual identity and when our love is directed away from Krishna then in various relationships that same original spiritual love gets expressed or rather it's expressed in a distorted way so here the birds he and she bird are also souls like all of us and they are in one sense like the souls who are in the spiritual world who have a loving relationship with Krishna but because of bodily misidentification and because of misdirected emotion that original attachment between the soul and Krishna is now misdirected towards one's bodily relations and such misdirection will become the cause of great affliction so they have no idea what agony is going to befall them as they return with anticipation bringing the food for the beloved babies so we don't know in this world what will befall us next but what we can be sure of always no matter what befalls us in this world is that Krishna always loves us and that by directing our love towards Krishna we will never be disappointed we will never be frustrated we will always find shelter and safety and strength and solace and sublimity sublime happiness in our love for Krishna in our relationship with Krishna in our service to Krishna and the frustration which may we may disappointment or frustration that we may experience sometimes in our relationship in this world it shouldn't make us disheartened rather it should make us inspired to redirect our love towards Krishna and that way we can actually our sufferings can move us towards higher happiness rather than sinking us into greater suffering as will happen to these birds who do not know who do not have the facility for directing their love towards Krishna thank you.
