Did Krishna-Arjuna commit environmental holocaust at Khandava?

Krishna question did Krishna and Arjuna commit a environmental holocaust in the khandav area when they burned the khandav forest the thousands of animals and plants which were killed over there so and there doesn't seem to be any reason for that isn't this a eco holocaust done just for gaining land and power answer no not at all this is often the sort of perception often results when we take the often unspoken or unrecognized assumptions of our present world view and apply it on an entirely different world view or an entirely significantly different culture so the Mahabharata itself specifically describes that this was a time when there was a war between the devatas and the asuras and as a part of this war between devatas and asuras both these species had penetrated into the earth and how had they penetrated by taking birth in the earth on the earth so one was of course in the human species the danavas had sent Duryodhana and his brothers and others and pandavas were also there who were of the divine nature apart from that the many of the demons had also taken birth in the animal species and they were populating the khandava forest so actually it is that brahma tells agni that this particular forest is populated with evil beings now normally the law of karma applies for those for human beings say a lion eats a catches and devours a deer the lion doesn't get any karma but when the demons they come on the earth and they take on subhuman bodies then they can cause massive violence and disruption and claim to have immunity from the law of karma so that way the demons were wreaking a lot of havoc in the khandava area and that was a whole part of the plan to eventually take over the earth and have it ruled by demoniac powers so brahmaji told agni and agni with the consent or specifically the instruction of brahmaji came to krishna and arjuna and then he requested them that that this forest has to be burned and then krishna and arjuna got to the task of burning the forest so the important point to recognize here is that the mahabharata when it talks about the khandava burning or burning at a massive scale it also gives a rationale for it and the rationale is that it was populated by evil beings who had come from the lower planets and were populating, dominating the khandava forest as a part of a plan to eventually take over the earth and it was to shake that plan that krishna and arjuna acted to burn the forest so this was a part of the plan of bharava taranaya that to remove the burden of the earth or as krishna says that vinashaya shudhushkritam so now we shouldn't see it in terms of the environmental crisis that is troubling the world today because at that time when the whole world was living in a eco-friendly way largely there was no environmental crisis of the magnitude that was here that is there today and there were factors far graver than environmental crisis that were threatening the world and it was that threat that was dealt out by krishna and arjuna when they freed the khandava area of the forest with its demoniac residents and then converted it into the capital of dharma where yudhishthira maharaj performed rajasuya yajna where krishna was eventually declared as the agarapuri so it is a part of the re-establishment of dharma and the whole operational dynamics at that time were entirely different from today's contextual concerns for eco-friendly living thank you.
