Did Yudhishthira sin by not lying as per Krishna’s instruction?
Yudhishthira did not follow Krishna when Krishna told him to tell a lie. So was that a sin on his part? Not exactly a sin.
It is at that level it is incomplete surrender. Incomplete surrender. So often the popular renditions of the Mahabharata say that when Yudhishthira would always be above the ground but after he spoke this that Ashwatthama is killed whether the human or the animal I don't know, something like that.
So after that his chariot came down. The popular explanation for this is that because he spoke a lie that's why his chariot came down. But Vaishnavacharya explained that his chariot came down because he hesitated his surrender to Krishna.
So he surrendered but he did not surrender wholeheartedly. It was not just his dharma that kept the chariot above. It was his bhakti that kept the chariot above and that bhakti became deficient at that critical moment and his chariot came down.
