Does human nature always give fear precedence over faith?
Is Isn't it human nature that fear takes Precedence over faith I wouldn't say necessarily It's human nature It depends on How our human nature is There is sattva guna, rajo guna and tamo guna The three modes of material nature Goodness, passion, ignorance as we say So depending on What our default nature is A particular State of mind will be natural for us So if somebody is in tamas See the idea is If we consider what is the Defining characteristics of these modes We could say In The mode of passion We Perceive material reality And we believe that We can control material reality In Mode of ignorance In tamas We We perceive material reality But we feel we can't even control that And that's why We withdraw into some imaginary World That's why entertainment, drugs All these escapist ways In sattva We perceive material reality We understand that material reality Is insecure but then we perceive Spiritual reality and we seek security Over there So faith It's much easier to turn in faith Towards Krishna if we are in sattva If we are in tamas Fear will naturally overwhelm us If we are in rajas, depending on how much Rajas, how much passion is there Either we will turn with faith towards Krishna Or we will turn in fear away from So now we Can't immediately change our modes That's why We need to associate with Those who are situated in a higher Mode So by ourselves We may just get overwhelmed By fear but if you associate With some devotees Some spiritually minded people who are situated in sattva or above We talk with them We hear from them And then they will calm us down That's why we will see Especially coming in association Of great souls and especially Hearing from them Will increase our faith And will increase Our inclination to turn in faith towards Krishna So depending on where our Which mode we are situated in Faith or fear may be natural But by associating with Higher devotees who are situated in faith We can also turn in faith towards Krishna.
