Does upasana kanda contain things other than bhakti?
Podcast:
Does upasana contain things other than bhakti? Answer, yes, it does. It depends on how we define bhakti. Are we saying that it refers to pure devotional service? Definitely, it contains things other than pure devotional service.
It is essentially upasana. It is worshipping of the, it is centered on worship now. Is worship the same as bhakti? In one sense, worship is one limb of the bhakti, if we can say.
Bhakti hashronam kirtanam in which if we mean worship as archanam or vandanam, then worship is a subset of bhakti. But if we consider worship to be, broadly speaking, a generic understanding of appeasing some higher beings by which we can get some of our desires fulfilled, then there are yajnas performed in that. Yajnas don't directly come on the nine limbs of bhakti because those nine limbs are talked about from the bhagwat vidhi.
Pancharatrika vidhi involves other things. So, broadly speaking, upasana can't center on worship. Thank you.
