Don’t use others to feel better about yourself, learn from others how to become better Gita 03.21
Hare Krishna don't use others to feel better about yourselves learn from others how to become better sometimes when we look at the world around us we look at people who we may find are worse than us if we are undisciplined we may look at people who are more undisciplined than us, we are unproductive we look at people who are more unproductive than us and that way we try to feel better about ourselves however such a strategy is useless by this we only end up making things worse for ourselves instead if we focus on looking at those who are better than us and not looking at them in a way that creates inferiority for us but that creates inspiration for us how can I become better that is a far more productive strategy yad yad aachirati shreshtas tad tad eve tarojanah sa yad pramanam gurute lokas tad anuvartate the Bhagavad Gita Krishna says that as all people surrender unto me I reward them accordingly what this means essentially is that Krishna is talking here about that is the verse about reciprocity and this verse is about that is 411 321 is that as what great people do ordinary people emulate them they follow them and Krishna empowers us to rise toward greatness if we connect with him surrender to him and gain access to his divinity so we are parts of the greatest being and each one of us has the potential for greatness because of our identity as parts of the greatest being so if we recognize that we have a responsibility not that we want to be greater than others but we want to be better than what we are right now we have a potential which is untapped and if we learn to tap that potential we can do so much more in the world rather than looking down at those who are worse than us we can look at those who are better than us and learn from them how to become better and then when we become better then we will feel better not based on a extrinsic self-worth coming from comparing with others but from intrinsic self-worth coming by our own improvement our own manifestation of our potentials Thank you. Hare Krishna.
