For chanting, why are Tulsi beads recommended?
Thank you question why do we prefer Tulsi beads for chanting answer the process of chanting is meant for purification and thus we want to have as many purifying stimuli associated with that process of chanting as possible just as we can chant in our mind but we are recommended to chant loudly because instead of just our mind being involved we can also involve our tongue and our ears similarly when we are chanting with beads we are going to touch the beads the beads themselves are made of something which is sacred and purifying not just functionally shapable as beads then the purification will increase and among various purifying objects of which the beads could be made from the natural world if you want to consider wood and its variants then Tulsi is the most purifying Tulsi also represents the goddess of fortune Lakshmi Devi or Radharani supreme goddess of fortune generally whenever we make an offering to Krishna it is we who offer through the tradition to Srimati Radharani and Radharani Srimati Radharani enriches that offering with her devotion and then she offers it to Krishna and thus the offering becomes filled with so much devotion that Krishna finds it irresistible similarly when we chant the holy names when we have an expansion of Srimati Radharani that is Tulsi Devi manifesting in an expansion of hers as the Tulsi beads then that her presence not only purifies us when we contact her with our fingers by touching while chanting her presence also increases the devotion that is there in our offering of our chanting so we have some devotion but Tulsi Devi's presence and her mercy enriches the devotion and so when it is offered to Krishna there is much richer, deeper, sweeter devotion within it in the offering of our japa so that is why it is recommended that we chant the Tulsi beads of course because bhakti is transcendental and if somebody has a has a heart overflowing with devotion then it will just be a connection between their hearts and the hearts of the lord heart of the lord but for all of us we are still seekers on the devotional path and whatever supports and aids we can get to make the reciprocation of love through chanting better to make the reciprocation better then why not accept that thank you.
