Gauranga Shata Nama 05 – The Lord is the blesser and the blessing
And then he would say that I am the master of Parvati and would say that I am the Shiva I am the hero Goddess of fortunes he listened to her the Sun shone in the sky and saw while living in Navadvip, beheld Lakshmidevi as she was also entering into her youth and she was praying that she will get a good husband and the culmination of her aspirations was to get the lord himself as her beloved lord Nimai as her lord in this life and when she was praying very sincerely, fervently, earnestly on the banks of the Ganges, there Nimai saw this and he blessed her, Krishna is the giver and the gift, there is nothing that we can gain that is greater than Krishna, so he is the giver as well as the gift and when he gives himself to us, then that is the supreme charity because the purpose of charity is to remove the distress of the needy and to make them happy and when we receive Krishna, then we get the supreme happiness, so Lord Chaitanya, he gave himself to Lakshmidevi, decided to fulfill her heart's aspiration by arranging to have their marriage performed, that will be further mentioned in the next verse but what the Lord offered to Lakshmidevi that in principle he offers to all of us too, we may not have a particular mother-son relationship in a particular position with the Lord but still we can have an intimate connection with him according to our particular Rasa and Sarupa with him and when Krishna is the giver and he is the gift, he gives himself to us by the process of devotion and when he does give himself to us, when we offer ourselves to him through the process of devotion, he is the giver who gives himself, he reveals himself in our heart and when we are revealed, when that revelation happens within our heart, we become supremely, eternally, purely attracted to him for his sake not for anything else and in that way we attain the purpose and perfection of our life because in falling in love with him, we attain, we get life's supreme perfection because we get the highest happiness so Lakshmipati boradata uddhata balak, so this child of mine, he is uddhata balak, he was in his own way arrogant, uddhata balak, he was impudent not in an arrogant way but in a mischievous way, in a playful way, sometimes by disobeying his elders, he would actually in a mood of mischief or playfulness, he would endear himself to them, but that same boy who was impudent earlier, as he grew up and as life thrust responsibilities upon him, he immediately rose to take up the responsibilities, so when he was the younger among the two sons of his parents, there was Vishwaroop who was elder and Vishwambhar, Nimmai was the younger, so he was like a pampered younger child and Vishwaroop was sober and responsible but then suddenly Vishwaroop took sanyas and left to become Shankararanya Maharaj and that was a great affliction to his parents, in fact his father Jagannath Mishra was so greatly afflicted that he could not even survive and he departed from the world, so when he thus departed at that time, the result was that he, so his mother was first afflicted when her son left and then after that, when her husband also passed away, it was a double affliction and at that time, Nimmai put aside all playfulness and took up the heavy responsibilities of consoling his mother and of becoming her shelter in life and in this way, the playfulness that was in that was never an obstacle in his being responsible father, that was just one way in which he reciprocated loving relationship with his loved ones and when that circumstances changed, he was no longer a playful child, he became a young adult but a mature responsible adult who consoled his mother with fond loving words and he took care of her, Shoka Nibarak, freed her from misery and this world when we all face losses as we will face sooner or later, when we lose sometimes our loved ones, at that time the Lord can also be our Shoka Nibarak, we take shelter of him, our vertical relationship with him, that is the eternal enduring relationship and to the extent we stay sheltered in that relationship, to that extent we stay eternally happy and it is that which is offered, that is the special message which is offered by the Lord to us when we learn to love and serve, so thank you.
