Gauranga Shata Nama 08 – Let the ocean of devotion rescue us from the ocean of tribulation

Thank you. So now, Lord Chaitanya, the previous text described about how Lord Chaitanya has taken sannyas sorry not sannyas, has taken deeksha from Ishwara Puri and has received the holy name and seeing the holy name, what happened? Krishna namo anmatta anmatta means intoxicated now intoxication can be considered bad but there can be tamasic intoxication and there can be transcendental intoxication and transcendental intoxication is considered supremely auspicious Krishna namo anmatta so he became intoxicated with the names of Krishna Krishna namo he was chanting Krishna, Krishna, Krishna and he felt such ecstasy in the chanting of the names of Krishna that he felt that there is nothing more needed in my life my life is perfect and he was chanting the names of Krishna, feeling the presence of Krishna at one time in Karnataka, later on we will see about how he even saw the darshan of Krishna and he was just lost completely by that beautiful intoxicating sight of Krishna he became anmatta, Krishna, Krishna mad for Krishna, that's what he was and this madness pervaded the entire being he was a grammar teacher and he was supposed to teach grammar but when he opened his students brought their books and he opened his book to teach them he was told to talk about verbal roots but he started talking about how ultimately everything is sustained by Krishna so all verbal roots, their root is Krishna and he started speaking simply about Krishna throughout his class and his students were initially surprised they had come to learn grammar and surprised what is our teacher teaching but they also got so enthused by his sheer devotional fervor that eventually when Chaitanya Mahaprabhu when Nimaya Pandit realized that he is too intoxicated with Krishna to be able to teach grammar, he said please excuse me now, he just closed his book and he said I cannot teach grammar now so you can go and find some other teacher they all closed their books and they said no, we also don't want to study grammar now whatever you want to teach, we will hear that so he in this way he transformed the grammar classes into classes for teaching Krishna Tattva Adhyapaka and then Krishna Namo Matta Krishna Tattva Adhyapaka Nama Sankirtana Yuga Dharma Prabhataka and then Nama Sankirtana chanting of the holy names and chanting it together Sankirtana Yuga Dharma this was the prescribed Buddhist practice and Prabhataka, he was the propagator of that and essentially through the chanting of the holy names especially in Sankirtana he inundated first the houses of the Vaishnavas where he would do Kirtana primarily Shastrakut then the city of Nadia when he started doing public Sankirtana and thereafter as he travelled all over the country he propagated the chanting of the holy names and flooded those places with the ecstasy of Krishna Prem and through his followers Trishula Prabhupada and through the whole Sampradaya he is continuing to flood the world with the nectar of the holy name and the nectar of Krishna Prem that results from the chanting of the holy names and we all have an opportunity to be carried away by the values of this nectar ocean and to the extent we choose to be carried away by this nectar ocean to that extent we will be saved from the poison ocean of mortal existence in person conception of liberation is that we get out of mortal existence and attain the shore of immortality where we will no longer be battered by the waves of dualities but the personal understanding is yes the coast of immortality is good as Krishna talks about in 18.54 but after that comes that is 18.54 B last line of that verse so my bhakti and you will attain my parabhakti Krishna says bhakti is also an ocean and we immerse ourselves in that ocean so that ocean has flooded across the coast of immortality and is flowing now is mixing with the exertion of mortal existence and if while we are in the mortal ocean itself if you can switch over to that ocean's current then in that current we will be taken beyond the shore of immortality to the immortally ecstatic ocean of emotion that is the gift Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu wants to bestow upon us thank you.
