Gita 02.04 Fight not for or against some material cause – fight for Krishna
Bhagavad Gita 2.4 Katham Bhishmama Hamsankhe Dronam Chamada Sudhana Ishubhi Pratiyotsyami Pujara Varisudhana so Katham Bhishmam Arjuna is speaking to Krishna and using a rhetorical question to make his point that how can I fight against Bhishma and Drona Ishubhi Pratiyotsyami how can I counter them with arrows those whom I would much more rather worship with flowers Pujara Varisudhana so that is the challenge in life that sometimes we to use forces to do that which is the exact opposite of what our heart longs to do and what do we do at that time now we can use our heart to say that something we that we are attached to it's a material attachment or it could even be a spiritual attachment the important thing is that there are attachments and there are ways in which we could use the same power of material to ascend to a higher level of reality to ultimately attain proximity to Krishna and attain Krishna so this requires us to distance ourselves from our situations and to raise ourselves to our spirituality to realization unless we realize we cannot cherish we cannot move forwards unless we realize what we are meant to do in life it's impossible to be not satisfied it's impossible to be satisfied with how life turns out to be we all have expectations dreams of what we want in life but there are times when the reality is better than dreams and there are times when reality turns out to be worse than nightmares now when the reality turns out to be worse than nightmares at that time it's vital that we have the shelter the reassurance of connecting with the reality that is stabler deeper than the level of reality where things have turned into nightmares so to the extent we can see our life as an opportunity to progress from one level to another from illusion to reality from deception to illumination from a place where we face problems to a place where we gain gain a purpose that survives whatever problems we may be facing to the extent we go to that higher level of reality to that extent we can have peace and strength so for Arjun when the reality is forcing him to do something that his heart absolutely doesn't want him to do what is that that his heart absolutely doesn't want him to fight against his elders so a shower of flower versus a shower of arrows it's a it's a very very difficult choice for him to make now Krishna will tell reveal to him a new course that he is not fighting against Bhishma and Rona he is not fighting against them he is fighting for dharma he is fighting for Krishna and if that requires him to make that super hard choice so be it he is ready to make it because that's what is needed and that's what Arjun is going to do now so Arjun's determination is Arjun's determination will be restored after hearing the Bhagavad Gita till that point right now he is in total generally when the reality turns to according to us reality exceeds our expectations then there is enormous joy when the reality matches our expectations then also there is some joy when the reality wildly differs from our expectations there is great distress and when the reality gels look what we are doing and the reality totally differs from our expectations it turns out to be the opposite then it is most unbearable so there is distance but there is complete opposition complete opposites so if we expect somebody to be our friend and they don't act in a friendly way that's difficult to be here but if we expect someone to support us and they instead attack us an arrow shot by a enemy does not hurt us as well as an arrow shot at us by a some friend who turns out to be a betrayer similarly for Arjuna the unbearable frustration of being a part of a reality that is the opposite of what he would long to do what he thinks is the right thing to do what he thinks the way things should be this enormous gap is what he has to process and what he is unable to process this works brings forth in the starkest terms the dilemma that Arjuna is facing and we can imagine the heart wrenching pain he must be in facing this dilemma not knowing what to do in a situation like this and how to move ahead from this situation it is this dilemma that Arjuna will need to have resolved and which Krishna will resolve for him by speaking the Bhagavad Gita and Krishna will tell him that Arjuna you are a soul Bhishma and Drona are souls and sometimes as souls you may have to play roles in which you fight on the same side sometimes you may have to play roles in which you fight on the opposite side but beyond the side that you fight for beyond with whom you fight or against with whom you fight is your goal is not the role but your goal is the whole if you fight for Krishna Krishna will do the Krishna is the whole and he will ensure that good will work out not only for Arjuna but eventually even for Bhishma and Drona so that was the message that the Gita will reveal in due course let.
