Gita 06.27 – The pacification of the mind comes by the purification of the passion
Thank you in this verse in this verse 6th chapter of the bhagavad gita, 28th verse prashanta manasam the mind becomes the mind is ashanta normally, but by the practice of yoga it becomes prashanta it becomes very deeply pacified very profoundly peaceful and as the mind becomes peaceful like this how it is by the practice of yoga as long as the mind is connected with the shaking and the changing and the mind keeps changing and shaking and there is restlessness as a result but when the mind gets connected with the unshakable and unchangeable then the mind also becomes stable so the suprahim unshakable unchangeable reality is Krishna and chanting enables us to connect with Krishna when we connect with him through the holy name then prashanta the mind becomes peaceful and then yoginam sukham uttamam the yogi experiences uttama sukha that is the topmost happiness uttama can mean topmost or excellent rather, tama is the better to be on uttama sukha sukha uttama and then upaiti shanta rajasam the rajoguna which is there within us it gets pacified, shanta so it's interesting that Krishna uses the word shanta twice in the same verse the a part prashanta prashanta manasam and then here is shanta rajasam so pacification of mind comes only when there is the pacification of passion as long as the mind is not purified of passion actually shanta rajasam the characteristic of rajoguna is actually a shanti krishna says while describing the characteristics of rajoguna that it keeps 14.12 he says karma the newer and newer works a person starts so that is the characteristic of the mode of passion so activity this greed insatiable desire and that impels people to activity so shanta rajasam rajoguna actually becomes shanta only when there is purification and then brahma bhutam akalmasam so there is the mode of goodness and above it is transcendence so when the mode of passion becomes less and less one becomes purified then brahma bhutam one understands oneself to be brahman to be spiritual and then the more one understands oneself to be spiritual one also understands that I am akalmasam I am uncontaminated because contamination can only happen to the body and the mind and if I become purified of the contamination that affects my body and mind then I become I realize my transcendental identity and I gain happiness so tamasakha so for us sadhakas the holy name is the means to shanta rajasam now sometimes we are chanting when passion refuses to become shanta then that makes us shanta because we may start feeling what am I doing by this chanting so much time what am I doing I am not doing anything practical what is going to be the end result or end use of doing all this but at such times if we look back at our life and if we remember the many experiences that all of us have had of some extraordinary contact with Krishna that may be in terms of a very ecstatic kirtan or that may be in terms of the hearing of a very moving class from a loving devotee or it may be in terms of suddenly we read something and just jolts us awake and then at such times when we want to share Krishna consciousness but at the same time there is difficulty because people feel that they.
