Gita 10.14 – Accept Krishna’s position and message the way Arjuna accept it
Thank you 10.14 here after hearing the chatrushloki bhagavatam chakrushloki bhagavad gita from 10.8 to 11 in 12 and 13 verses Arjuna expressed his understanding of Krishna's message till now acclaiming Krishna's supreme position and he continues that in this verse where he states that all that what you have spoken my lord I accepted that which you have spoken what you have spoken oh lord you are bhagwan you are the absolute truth, you are a person who you are, what is your position what is your personality that neither the devatas nor the dhanavas can understand this so the two parts of this verse, first is I accept everything and even the devatas and asuras cannot understand you these parts may seem to be disjointed if you don't look at the context of what is being spoken in this chapter 10.2 Krishna has spoken he stated that actually the various devatas they don't know me the devatas are extremely powerful the great sages are extremely learned when they don't know me so the devatas are considered to be very pious worshipping them is an act of piety so neither by piety nor by learning or asceticism can he be understood that is the implication over here in 10.2 I am the source of the devatas as well as the maharishis also so now this statement is quite a bold statement to make considering that Krishna appears to be just like any other human being on the earth he is in a chariot with Arjuna and he is a powerful warrior, a great king but still there are many others also who are powerful who are great and all the other kings and warriors they worship the devatas, they respect the sages and for Krishna to claim that he is the source of the sages and the devatas and that he is the that they don't know him it might seem to be like a very tall claim and Krishna had made a similar statement earlier in the 4th chapter when he has stated in 4.1 that he is he gave this knowledge to the sun god long ago in the past and from this one it came down to money and he made a big show of it so there Arjuna had asked the question in 4.4 how do I understand this he had stated that that the janma of your janma you are junior by birth to sun god so how can you have given knowledge to sun god and Krishna explained that his supreme position over there in 4.5 and 6 and so on and how he descends to this world so there when Krishna in relevance to our context is that there when Krishna had made a made a statement about his position as superior to the position of the devatas, Arjuna had questioned that claim but here in this 10th chapter 10.2 specifically when Krishna makes a similar claim Arjuna in response here in 10.4 he is stating that I accept it oh lord everything that you say oh lord I accept it so when you say that you are the source of the devatas you are the source of the sages they can't know you, I accept it as you have spoken it to me that that actually your personality cannot be understood the devatas or the asuras can understand your personality so the second part now makes sense if you see it in this slide that how can the infinite absolute manifest in a finite seeming form here in front of Arjuna on this battlefield of Kurukshetra that how the absolute truth manifests in a finite seeming form and still remains infinite that is something which is not very easy to understand that is something which requires special mercy bhakti Krishna will say in edict 155 that it is by bhakti alone that it can be understood and he also stated earlier in 7.3 that that few endeavor for spiritual knowledge for perfection and among those who endeavor and progress along that path few understand him in truth so that Krishna what Krishna has stated earlier what Krishna will state later again that Arjuna is reiterating here that actually your personality is very difficult to understand so God is a person but he is not just a person in the sense that he is not like other persons that we know he is all pervading, he is omnipotent he is omniscient and how that omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent absolute truth can manifest as a person that is something which the finite intellects of not just humans but even of the celestials that intellects cannot comprehend I accept it in full the many people who selectively take those portions of the Gita that aid in their purpose they focus only on those sections of the Gita that enable them to to promote their own ideas or their own ideologies and in such views sometimes Krishna just becomes the poetic device for some anonymous genius or Krishna becomes a representation of some ineffable principle or Krishna just becomes a transitional tool, a convenient fiction for accessing the impersonal absolute which is thought as the highest absolute truth by some people so this sort of interpretations people try to have and when they try to have the interpretations at that time they selectively and selectively quote cherific Gita verses and thus they the selectiveness becomes a part of their deceptiveness of course they may not do it with a deceptive intention since that may be the effect in the long run so by accepting Bhagavad Gita as an integrated book coming from a source and going to a particular destination coming from Krishna and going to Arjuna and seeing the understanding that Arjuna got seeing the attitude that Arjuna had in getting that understanding we can also progress towards getting getting a similar understanding and becoming and moving towards enlightenment. Thank you.
