Thank you That eternal abode is not illumined by the sun nor by the moon nor by five having attained that abode yad gatva na nivartante having attained that abode having gone there yad gatva na nivartante one does not come back to this world tad dhama paramam mama that is my eternal abode so Krishna is describing His eternal abode His supreme abode paramam mama with two characteristics that it is self luminous and that is once attained we stay eternally there so normally few people very few people if any are attracted to darkness some people are almost very frightened of darkness and we are all attracted to light there is a famous Upanishadic saying which holds that actually from darkness we need to move towards light and in this way we can actually appreciate the depth of the devotion of the human heart for that which it is eternally longing for we may have many specific objects that we may long for at different times but underlying them all the heart’s deepest longing is for the supreme so there is the all attractive source of everything and He is our eternal Lord and He is the person whom we are always longing for even if we don’t understand it and He is the source of all light in fact not only He is the source of all light His abode also is the source of light is self luminous so on a dark night the darkness is when we see a bright star or a bright moon on a dark night that looks especially striking similarly when we look at something outstandingly attractive that is when we look at the supreme whose parts we are eternally He is all attractive He is like the light and He is the source of whatever is attractive in this world if we are attracted to worldly objects that’s ok they are visible many of them seem to be attainable and we are naturally attracted to them but actually we are attracted to something much deeper we are not attracted to those objects alone we are attracted actually to Krishna whose spark is manifested to that object but not knowing that it is Krishna through whom we are attracted we get captivated by the worldly objects and thus we end up end up shattered because those objects, their attractiveness is temporary quite often our relationship with those objects is temporary and thus we end up becoming frustrated, disappointed irritated, aggravated and ultimately devastated but we can actually move forwards in our spiritual growth by understanding that whatever it is we are attracted to just a light attracts us and a self luminous abode, how attractive will it be so when it is said that, that abode is not illumined by this it doesn’t mean that it is a dark place the negative point negative way of stating it that which is not illumined by any of these that means what if Krishna had to say that this is dark, he would simply have said it is dark but he is not saying it is dark he is actually saying that it is the source of it is self luminous that is the point which he is making over here when he is saying that it is not illumined and Krishna is also using very specific words over here he is not saying that there is no sun, moon or fire over there he is saying that the abode is not illumined by them, that means it is not dependent for illumination on those things so in the spiritual world things are present and they are often attractively present, not just present but many of the things in the spiritual world are extremely attractive but their attractiveness is relative to their purposefulness that means everything’s purpose is to serve Krishna to love Krishna and to assist him in the pastimes there so when we have this purpose in mind then we see that actually everything in Krishna’s abode is just the way it needs to be for enhancing Krishna’s loving pastimes with his devotees so for example when Krishna learns to when say Krishna wants it to be dark at night, say for example in the Raas Leela when the Gopis have disappeared deep into the, when Krishna has disappeared from the Gopis and the Gopis go deep into the forest at that time the Gopis feel so dark that they can’t even see their hands in front of them they realize they will not be able to locate Krishna so they come back but at this time so at that time they come back now that darkness, that inability to find Krishna that is what intensifies their devotion it heightens their separation and thereafter they wholeheartedly strive to move close to see Krishna to find Krishna and to devote themselves to him thus actually they don’t let themselves get carried away the darkness basically the darkness doesn’t darken their mood or darken their devotion the darkness serves to intensify their devotion and they express their intense devotion in the Gopi Gita so in the spiritual world whatever is required for the presence of Krishna for the enhancing of the past tense of Krishna that is present so when Krishna wants he can manifest light wherever he wants and when Krishna wants it can be dark completely there is no dependence on anything actually everything is dependent on Krishna and everything is subservient to Krishna’s purpose of relishing sweet loving pastimes and for that purpose whatever is required is done by Krishna and by his devotees in relationship with him so thus what we observe essentially is this intense reciprocation of love between Krishna and his devotees and so here the point is that the spiritual world is not dependent it is not deficient it is actually transcendent and that is stressed through the statement that actually Krishna is the all attractive supreme who is the purpose of all our heart’s longings even if we don’t realize it and it is his abode where all our aspirations for peace, love and joy will find enduring fulfillment it is in his abode that whatever it is we wish to do whatever love we are longing for that will be supremely fulfilled so we need to devote ourselves to Krishna with the intensity and the whole heartedness that such an inspiring vision of the spiritual world simply an abode where love reigns supreme and where everything even Krishna himself subordinates to the need for love to whatever is required for the enhancing of love such is the supremely beautiful spiritual world that is the supreme abode we may build a big house for ourselves but we will be evicted from it we can’t say of any other abode in this world which having attained we won’t have to give it up but Krishna’s abode once attained that is going to be an eternal attainment
