thank you Bhagavad Gita 16.20 here Krishna is describing the destination of the demoniac in the previous verse he has stated that those people who are sinful who are cruel, who are envious they are cast being the lowest among human beings they are cast into inauspicious worlds in demoniac wombs and then Krishna says what happens further to them that they take birth from demoniac wombs and it’s not just once it can go on for many many births without attaining him they go further to lower and lower or inauspicious destinations Krishna is speaking here that birth in a demoniac family birth to a demoniac womb can have quite serious results which can last for quite a long time it’s not just a one time event it is sometimes in one lifetime we may do the kind of karma the results for it will go on for many lifetimes and not only that we may also end up doing the kind of actions which are grievous and the grievousness continues lifetime after lifetime because when we are born in a particular family we might even have that similar disposition and in that lifetime we do actions so that too may lead to consequences which can go on for many lifetimes so when we start doing something wrong we really can’t be sure how long that wrong action will go on how long its consequence will go on because it’s not just one wrong action or one reaction to that wrong action in terms of some external thing happening to us along with that comes wrong disposition the disposition that becomes cultivated and the disposition over time becomes habitual and once the disposition becomes habitual it’s extremely difficult it becomes very difficult to control that, to resist that so we need to recognize the limitation it’s important for us to recognize that the reality of our consequences of our actions are in terms of both the outer destination that we get and the inner disposition that we cultivate and the inner disposition can perpetuate the outer destination for a long long time and through it all the hope for our purification and elevation that can happen if we could just connect with Krishna that hope goes further and further away because Krishna, that devotion to him that devotional disposition is never cultivated we hardly get the inclination even to do the activities that will enhance the devotion within us and thus we stay caught and trapped not being able to do anything that will enable us to push forwards in our spiritual life to march ahead and ultimately attain him so it is important for us to purify ourselves and move onwards in our purificatory journey towards the supreme that our disposition be changed so the demoniac actions are bad the demoniac destinations are bad but the demoniac dispositions are the worst and those demoniac dispositions will perpetuate the demoniac actions and the demoniac destinations and the way to avoid those demoniac dispositions is by purification and purification begins with regulation Krishna will talk about that in the next two verses when he talks about the forces of lust, anger, greed which cause us to act in grievously wrong ways and then he will talk about the need to follow scripture which will protect us from the disastrously negative forces that are set in motion by our indulgences in lust, anger and greed so the more demoniac disposition we unwittingly embrace or cultivate by our demonic actions the more demoniac destinations we go deeper into and we go longer into in today’s world people may or may not believe in hell but in our own dispositions dispositions can become hellish wherein we suffer terribly because of the way our minds make us do terrible things people who become alcohol addicts people who become drug addicts people who become porn addicts it is their own mind which drags them into activities from which the pleasure is minimal and through which the distress is enormous and thus their suffering goes on and on not because of anything external just the external reactions do come but internally they are enslaved they are enslaved to misery they are dragged again and again to misery and although we could see that the greater misery that we are in the more we might turn towards Krishna because he becomes our only hope but things don’t work that easily or simply because this is not just external misery Krishna says arato those who are distressed are one category of people who come to him in 7.16 but here it is also that these people are terribly disturbed in their minds although they are in big trouble the root of their trouble is that they have no interest in God, they have no inclination towards God so they are not sukrutina, they are duskrutina and so they have no inclination towards the eternal God and even if their distress comes the alcoholic thinks that not that alcohol is the cause of my problem but he thinks that alcohol is the solution to my problems and thus the trouble coming from alcoholism is seen as solver by taking more alcohol and thus one goes deeper and deeper into degradation and distress without ever turning towards the Lord it is only if somehow or the other they come in contact with the merciful devotee of the Lord and if that devotee somehow is able to bring Krishna into their lives then it is possible for them to be protected then it is possible for them to be elevated then it is possible for them to be rescued from the demoniacs from the deadly demoniac destination that otherwise perpetuates their demonic actions and their demoniac destinations Thank you
