Summary
Can departed loved ones truly guide us from beyond, or is it just imagination? This transcript exploration dives into the spiritual mechanics of post-mortem guidance and how to approach these experiences with wisdom.
Key Insights on Post-Mortem Guidance
-
Varying Spheres of Influence: Just as living people have different capacities, souls possess a unique sphere of influence (Kshetra) based on their individual characteristics and past karma.
-
The Disembodied State: Direct guidance from a former relative typically occurs when the soul exists in a temporary disembodied state before transitioning into a new human body.
-
Discernment Challenges: In reality, distinguishing whether an experience stems from a genuine relative, imagination, or a deceptive external presence is remarkably difficult.
-
Wisdom Over Esotericism: Instead of obsessing over paranormal sources, individuals should prioritize using their own God-given intelligence to make sound, rational decisions.
-
The Bhagavad Gita Approach: Even Krishna engaged Arjuna through reasoned arguments rather than whispering hidden, esoteric messages, modeling judicious decision-making.
-
Focus on the Outcome: The ultimate test of any guidance is not where the idea originated, but where it leads you and whether it is worth following.
Key Takeaways
-
Evaluate with Reason: Always assess any perceived paranormal guidance using your own critical thinking and intelligence before taking action.
-
Judge by the Result: Focus less on the source of an idea and more on its destination—evaluate whether following the guidance leads you in a positive, constructive direction.

Thank you. When the soul after death goes to a different body, how can the dead guide the living as is seen sometimes in relatives? The relatives say that my relative is guiding me or something like that.
And so, the post-mortem world is complex, just like the pre-mortem world is. This is in this world, pre-mortem is before death. The different people have different capacities.
There is the Kshetra, Kshetra is the sphere of influence. One person may have a tiny sphere of influence where they cannot guide or control or inspire people with their own power. Somebody else might be able to guide or control or inspire thousands or millions of people all over the world.
So, why the difference? It is based on their individual characteristics. It also depends on their past karma by which they have got that Kshetra. Similarly, some souls may get a bigger Kshetra, have a bigger Kshetra in their post-mortem life also.
Generally, if the soul is guiding somebody in their previous life, that means that soul has not yet entered into the human body. And, they are existing in some level of disembodied state. And, from there they are offering some guidance.
So, now first of all, in principle there is a possibility that this can happen. In actuality, whether it is really happening, whether it is one’s relative guiding or whether it is some other being, may be dark being, asperating as a relative guiding, or whether it is one’s own imagination, by which one is fantasizing that it is our relative who is guiding, that is difficult to discern. And, that is why the important thing is responsible decision making.
You don’t obsess too much on whether somebody has some esoteric paranormal sources of knowledge or not. We focus on using our intelligence to make sound decisions. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna himself is there as God, but Krishna doesn’t whisper some esoteric message into Arjuna’s ears.
Krishna makes reasoned arguments to help Arjuna choose judiciously. And, that is the method that we follow in making decisions. Even if somebody claims or somebody feels that they are having some paranormal guidance, they need to evaluate it with their God-given intelligence, and then make a decision.
So, focus not on where some idea is coming from, focus more on where the idea is taking us, and based on that, decide whether the idea is worth following or not.
