I like Surya Shanti very much. These are very, very nectarian. I am reading article of 1st May.
I want to know how to increase this realization of yoga with Paramatma Krishna sitting in our heart. Means, how to be naturally conscious of Him always that He is sitting in my heart. Is there two inner voices which I hear related to Him? Is it only through pure devotional service? Answer? Yes, it is through devotional service.
We don’t have to necessarily be pure devotees to become tuned to Krishna’s voice. The purer we are, the tuning will be clearer. But even at our stage, it is possible.
If we become aware of Krishna when He manifests externally to us, essentially, Krishna does want to guide us. But He also wants to see whether we want the guidance. He doesn’t want to force His presence, guidance or grace on us.
So, because in the past we have turned away from Him, that’s why He has made Himself unmanifest in our heart. Now if we turn towards Him, naturally He will make Himself manifest. In fact, He wants to make Himself manifest.
So, He is just waiting for us to show Him the signal that we want Him to manifest. And how do we show that? By turning towards His external manifestations. So, the same Paramatma in the heart, who is called as Chaitra Guru, has manifested externally as Guru Sadhu Shastra.
So, when we mould our life according to Guru Sadhu Shastra and try to remember Krishna and whenever we have to make decisions and choices, act based on the guidance of Guru Sadhu Shastra, the principles that we learn therein, by that we show Krishna that I want to live in Your presence. I want to live the life that You want me to live, Krishna. And in this way, when we show Krishna that then we will be able to hear Krishna’s voice thereafter because Krishna does want to guide us.
So, it’s like tuning the radio. We know the signal is here. Then even if we don’t hear it right now, we come to that frequency and then we do fine tuning.
And the more we do fine tuning, the signal becomes clearer. So, when we follow Shastra, for example, if we do our sadhana properly, chant attentively, study scriptures properly, then by all this, we are doing the tuning. And even if we don’t hear any signal, we know the signal is there because of some disturbance not coming, but then the more our tuning becomes finer, the signal will become clearer.
So, at our stage, we focus more on being conscious of Krishna’s will as it is revealed through Guru Sadhu Shastra than his voice as it is revealed through the Supersoul. Because at our level, the Supersoul’s voice may not be heard or it may not be possible for us to ascertain what is the Supersoul’s voice within. So, we focus primarily on hearing the Supersoul’s voice externally where we can be sure when we are studying scripture and the principles given in scriptures, then we know that is Krishna’s will coming through Guru Sadhu Shastra and Parampara.
And in general, we can rely on the Supersoul’s voice at our level in a definitive sense to get deeper reminders and greater conviction of the teaching of Guru Sadhu Shastra. So, for example, when we are faced with temptation and then we know that scriptures tell us शुक्णोति दिवियसूरुं प्राक्षिरिविमोक्षनात् कामक्रोधूद्भवं वेगंत्रयुक्तसुजुखिनरः One who rejects, one who tolerates temptation, such a person will be happy. So, say we recite this verse and then what will happen is we try to resist the temptation by reciting, remembering the verse and pray to Krishna.
And then Krishna will be in such a way that we will get a deeper conviction of this verse. So, we say no once, twice, then whenever again we are tempted, we will find that there is a voice within which is telling us don’t do this. Or when we are doing this also, doing something immoral, anti-devotional, we will feel an inner check.
So, to the extent that we are helped by the inner voice in following the well-known, the clear instructions of Guru Sadhu Shastra, to that extent we can be sure that this is actually inner voice. And the more we follow the inner voice, the more the ambiguity will decrease and the clarity will increase. So, in general, it’s a three-step process.
First is follow Guru Sadhu Shastra externally. Then focus on the inner voice whenever it reinforces the Guru Sadhu Shastra and try to be aware of that and follow that. And then later on, at a third stage, even in situations where there is no explicit instruction from Guru Sadhu Shastra, then Krishna will guide us from within at that time.
And then that’s how we will be able to live in the voice within and rejoice in that voice.
