Hare Krishna. If we are robbed repeatedly by the same suspect, it is our intelligence that is suspect.
Suppose we keep our valuables at a particular place in our home, and then somebody who visits our home, maybe some help, paid help, they come. And whenever they are there, after that we find some valuables missing. We would be angry.
We would fire them. We would try to recover the things from them. We would maybe file charges against them.
But what we would certainly not do is that we let them have access to our valuables again nonchalantly and let them keep robbing us. If we are robbed repeatedly by the same suspect, then it is our intelligence that is suspect. What are you thinking? Why do you let them have access? Why do you keep them there? So this is something which we all need to ask ourselves.
A, we all have in our heart a treasure. The treasure is our spiritual inclination. The treasure is our devotion.
A treasure is our attraction to the all-attractive Lord with the source of all happiness, Krishna. And there are thieves which is lust, anger, greed. They enter into our consciousness and plunder our consciousness.
When lust, anger, greed increase, then our lower desires start dominating our consciousness and then they drive out our higher inclinations. Krishna says that we become plundered. That our consciousness becomes abducted by our lower desires and thus we become stripped of our spiritual capacities, our spiritual potential.
So if the same impurities are tormenting us and are deluding us repeatedly, then we need to take precautionary measures. We need to keep a distance from them. We need to protect ourselves, purify ourselves.
If we don’t do that, then it is our intelligence that is suspect. It is our intelligence that is in big trouble. And if that is the case, then simply lamenting that we are being robbed is not enough.
We have to strengthen our intelligence. We have to regularly study the Bhagavad Gita and not just study the Gita, but strive to live the Gita. If we are regularly reading the Gita and remembering the Gita, then when impurities start rising in our consciousness, we will remember, Oh, this impurity is actually promising pleasure, but it will actually take away my treasure.
And therefore, I won’t give into it. In this way, Krishna says, we need to, with our intelligence, situate ourselves in our transcendence, in recognizing our spirituality. In 3.43, he says, एवं बुद्धे परंबुद्धव सम्स्तप्भ्यात्मानमात्मनाजहिः चत्रुम् महाभाहो कामरुपंदरासदम एवं बुद्धे परंबुद्धव When we situate ourselves on the transcendental level, then we won’t be, with our intelligence, we can regard ourselves from the thieves of impurities.
And then we can experience the prosperity of our eternal connection and absorption in our all-attractive Lord. Thank you.
