thank you very much Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Sri Advaita Gadadhara Siva Sadi Gaurabhata Vrinda Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna concluding section of the Gita yesterday morning so the Bhagavad Gita is a book of profound philosophy at the same time in the conclusive understanding it is a book of divine love the Bhagavad Gita and all the philosophy that it contains is ultimately meant to reveal to us God’s love for all of us and then to inspire us to invite us to love Krishna back in return so in that sense provocatively put the Bhagavad Gita is like Krishna’s love letter to all of us why don’t you come and love me so the Bhagavad Gita talks about many different paths which are there for people who are of that particular physical, mental or intellectual inclination but ultimately we are not our body, mind or intellect we are the soul and the soul of all people whatever be their bodies, minds or intellects is ultimately hungering and thirsting for love and that love can be attained by directing our love propensity towards Krishna so that’s why in the conclusion of the Gita Lord Krishna tells that just give up everything else and develop your love for me so we will go over the last 21 verses of the Bhagavad Gita starting from 18.58 and we will try to go to 18.78 those of you who have Gita, you can take it out 18.58 so this is one of the most direct verses about Krishna consciousness sometimes some people wonder you know what is this Krishna consciousness you know when I heard when I was first introduced to ISKCON I had heard so many there are international society for rural development international society for maritime development so you know international society for Krishna consciousness first of all what is Krishna consciousness because you know Krishna is a religious term and consciousness if at all we hear that what is a scientific term so if it is Krishna consciousness then what is that and why do you need an international society so machittaha chitta means consciousness so machittaha means if you become conscious of me now consciousness machittaha Krishna chetana and durga refers to obstacles that’s why Durga Devi is the one who creates obstacles and traps in the material world sarva durgani mat prasadat by my mercy tarishasi you will cross over sarva durgani all obstacles so lord Krishna is telling here if you become conscious of me you will pass over you will float over swim over all the obstacles that come on the path by my mercy so Krishna is using the word tarishasi tarishasi means swim over it is not that you have to climb and struggle but by my mercy you will cross over all those obstacles on the other hand he says akha chet to mahangaran on the other hand out of ego nashrosyasi if you don’t hear me vinamsyasi so Krishna is telling clearly what will be the effect of Krishna consciousness and what will be the effect of ego consciousness Krishna unconsciousness is caused by ego consciousness and that ego is created by maya so we have the international society for Krishna consciousness and outside we think everybody is conscious of their ego even when religious people fight they are not fighting for god they are fighting for their own egos they are conscious of their own egos actually and the religion becomes a means to fortify and increase their ego so sometimes what is the practical benefit of Krishna consciousness in life we need food, clothing, shelter these are important necessities but ultimately this is not what makes life worth living and so many people who have food, clothing, shelter but they may be depressed, they may be committing suicide so food, clothing, shelter yes, they are necessary for living but they don’t themselves make life worth living so what we need for making life worth living is inspiration is motivation so without inspiration without motivation without a purpose for life life is really not worth living and ultimately what Krishna consciousness provides us is that purpose for life materialistic people also have their purposes for example somebody may say ok I want to become a CA I want to become a PhD I want to do this, I want to do that but these goals first of all they are externally induced within us we meet some people who have done those sort of degrees and then they inspire us you do like this, you do like this so they are externally induced by us and externally induced within us on the other hand there are also much more superficial goals like I want to get this mobile, I want to have this hairstyle I want to drive this bike I want to ride in this car and these are also desires stimulated by external persuasions mostly the advertisements so whether they are relatively short term desires like getting some positions or relatively long term desires like getting some positions purchasing a mobile is much easier than becoming a chartered accountant or something like that but whether it is so now in material life if somebody is ready to put aside his short term goals so that he can focus on long term goals just like students who work very hard for preparing for IIT and they may decide I will not watch any cricket matches I will not watch any movies these people are considered to be relatively glorious and we can look back in our own lives also actually the most satisfying is wholeheartedly focused on some goal otherwise it is one thing to have a goal it is like another thing to focus on that goal so when we wholeheartedly focus on that goal and we have a deep absorption in that then at that time it will be difficult to apply ourselves and work hard but when we look back into life this was a period in my life when I did something worthwhile when there is something worth remembering actually just yesterday I was hearing a lecture why do people watch TV it is not because the programmes in the TV are so nice it is because their lives are so boring it is not because the programmes are so nice it is because their lives are so boring material life as I was telling earlier if we are living at the sensual level and that is what most people are living at we can live at different level sensual level means somebody wants boys just want to see good looking girls want to eat good food if you are living at that level of consciousness then the pleasure is very because how long how long can the senses give some enjoyment it is like people sometimes go and visit some nasty sites they watch it, they get excited they get exhausted and then they just throw it away because what happens is that cannot be lasting enjoyment but what has happened by that is the desire is created and again one will be attracted towards that so the important thing is that if we live at a sensual level when the senses and sense objects are there then there is some excitement but when the sense objects are not there life is just boring life is just boring and it is not only boring because one wants to enjoy the sense objects, one has to work to get them so life can also become quite troubling but most of the time the sense objects are not available for enjoyment, sometimes people watch movies and they fantasise if I have a partner if I get married or but actually you see most of the people in the world most of the people are married the way the movies show the boy and the girl come together and dancing and singing as if they are next to see do you see all married people next to see? no so why? because even if the sense objects are available the capacity of the senses to give us pleasure is limited it lasts for a few moments therefore people who live on the sensory level their life is mostly boring that’s why sometimes we travel in a train so boring and empty even if the excitement is horror it doesn’t matter emotional stimulation has to be there there are different rasas in which we live so one of them is Vibhasa Vibhasa is horror so for example when Krishna is in the coils of Kaliya Krishna is in the coils of Kaliya then all the virtuosities are horrified then all the virtuosities are horrified Krishna has a relationship with Krishna so when people want to watch horror movies there is a perversion of that but the principle here is that whatever people call as enjoyment is basically emptiness in the boredom of their life because when they live at the sensory level there is not much enjoyment available that’s why in that book Energy I wrote a couplet from a small poem that I had written what are the situations in parties people go and say cheers and other people watch and they think oh they are enjoying life but what is the situation actually their hearts are filled with fears their minds are pierced by desires they are on the verge of tears and they say cheers immediate result is what first result is because sense objects are not available to us they may come to us they may go away therefore it leads to so much chinta if we get some contact it kindles the fire therefore even in movies they understand they have songs like but they imagine that by enjoyment that fire will get extinguished so that will never be satisfied it will never be extinguished so their minds are pierced by desires and because of these two things because of desires and fears they are on the verge of tears so what people call as material enjoyment is just attempt to forget the emptiness and the boredom and to some extent the misery of their lives when material desires come in our mind they people may feel I am getting excited but what they do is actually they torture us give me this, give me this, give me this I want this, do this, do this so now when people actually get the enjoyment, the enjoyment is basically just a temporary relief from a self created torture first we agitate our minds by watching things, by seeing things, by imagining things and then when we get excited, when we get agitated actually it is the same thing, excitement and agitation are the same thing just different world of looking at it but when we actually engage in the enjoyment, all that happens is that but then, because we have indulged in it we have put fuel in the fire, so agitation will come again so therefore at the sensory level life is miserable when the desires are troubling us and one is wanting to go and enjoy when one enjoys, there is a little pleasure after that, when one is either not agitated or not enjoying, life is mostly boring so at the sensory level, life is mostly boring when we are at the mental level it is not so much direct sense gratification but there are certain things which we like like somebody may like to collect coins somebody may like to just collect information about politics, about cricket, about this about that, they may not be so much interested in watching the match also, but they want to show others I know so much, so our mind has some likes and some dislikes so they are ultimately these likes and dislikes are related to sensory impressions, but they are not so much dependent directly on sensory impressions for example, some people just like cool weather of course, when it is hot, everybody likes cool weather but in general, some people may like so now, in this at the mental level, we are sometimes up and sometimes down when things are what we like, then we are happy and when things are what we dislike we are miserable so, basically our consciousness can be at different levels, it can be at the sensory level, it can be at the mental level I mean, we are at the intellectual level at that level, people are not so much concerned with the senses they are concerned with ideas they are not so much concerned with objects and the impressions created by the objects, they are concerned with ideas so ideas means, they are thinking they are planning, maybe they are writing a book or they are developing a scientific theory or they are solving a mathematical problem or they are doing something intellectually absorbing and when somebody does that it actually gives a tremendous amount of pleasure as compared to sensory pleasure all of us have that experience sometimes we have to solve some mathematical problem or do some derivation now, if we are fortunate enough to not get frustrated and fed up if we can absorb ourselves and stimulate ourselves and challenge ourselves then we can find that actually there is some higher satisfaction in that so, Prabhupada is a scientist, philosopher poets, they are all at the intellectual level so, they are somewhat in the mode of goodness but even this pleasure is not lasting why? because the ideas of this world the concepts of this world they may give some pleasure while we are developing them why? because there is a pleasure of creating something, I am creating an idea, see at a physical level when we create with our senses then it’s gross sex but at an intellectual level we create something I create this, I create that so, there is some subtle pleasure at that level but then the problem is that once it’s done it’s over so we see Darwin developed this theory of evolution and towards the end of his life he said that he lost his taste for music for literature even for the beauty of nature he wrote his own autobiography and all the aesthetic things of life, why? because the implication of his own theory was that ultimately everything is meaningless ultimately everything is just a result of natural selection and random variation so, what we call as beauty is also just a result of some way certain chemicals combined together and that’s what resulted in something which we call as beauty and below the beauty is also the savagery of nature where animals are killing animals are killing each other so, he had the idea survival of the fittest survival of the fittest means battle confrontation, conflict now, he talked about survival of the fittest, Rao Pa had a simple one sentence refutation of the whole theory, Rao Pa said even the fittest don’t survive nobody survives in material existence, life is longer than unfit but nobody survives but you see, another practical problem with the theory is that all the survival of the fittest is a rule for material existence that inspires us that ennobles us they are not acts of survival of the fittest, but they are acts of sacrifice when the WTC towers were collapsing, at that time the fit people ran out of there but those who couldn’t run out, those who were trapped they would have died but there were firefighters who went inside risking their lives and brought those people out so now, they became the national heroes at that time for America, I mean national disaster, why? because, you know, yes we know, all of us have to struggle for our lives but there is something inspiring about that what inspires us? not when somebody is struggling for his own life but when somebody struggles and sacrifices for some higher cause, some other cause so, this idea of a higher cause, any higher principle for life, any higher cause of life is reacted so, Darwin is a very good example of what happens ultimately to intellectual pleasure intellectual pleasure as long as you are trying to create it there is excitement, after we create it then it’s over then you have to live with the consequences it’s not as great as that, just as material science objects are not as glorious as wonderful as they appear to be after they enjoy, it’s over similarly, ideas are also like that now, Darwin is one big intellectual Einstein is another intellectual so, Einstein had his own tremendous pleasure so, when the Jew state was created Israel, after the second world war Einstein was himself a Jew so, he was offered, you become the president of Israel so, he was, for him he said, no politics is for one lifetime science is for eternity but then, he was quantum theory with relativity theory and towards the end of his life, he was so frustrated, there must be a god there must be a god who is making these things work so, there was a phase in Einstein’s life when he went through atheism but, as he studied so, what happened was, with Einstein was that he grew up in the Judaeo-Christian tradition and in Judaeo-Christian tradition the idea of god is quite cruel you know, god causes thunder to fall, earthquakes to occur floods to take place, pestilence to take place to those who to destroy those who are against him so, the idea of god seems to be very cruel and he lost interest in that religious idea of god but, when he studied science deeply when he saw the order and the harmony in nature, he felt, there must be a god that the more one studies nature the more one’s respect for god increases so, he did come to a conclusion, but because he was not fortunate enough to come in contact with a deeper understanding of god that, you know god, there is a life beyond this world and there is a personality god Krishna, there was another German European philosopher Nietzsche, you know, he told the Christian world, god is dead god is dead and he said that I would believe in a god if he knew how to dance but he didn’t know about lord Chaitanya he was always dancing he was called the dancing god because he didn’t have a proper understanding of god based on the religious tradition that was there at that time, he lost interest but he was very frustrated towards the end of his life because the theory that he wanted to champion didn’t work out so, if it works out then it’s over, if it doesn’t work out, it’s frustrating so, either way, it doesn’t lead to any happiness ego means, I want to do this I want to show the world how great I am now, again this, suppose somebody wants to climb up Mount Everest now, you know, what is the practical use of climbing up Mount Everest what are you going to do, just put the flag of your country and let your name into the record book or something like that but why? people are ready to risk their lives for that why? because that will give them some name so, these are all different levels different ways by which people create some purpose for their lives at the sensory level, the purpose is get the sense of objection and enjoy at the mental level, see how to get the favourable, the likeable situation at the intellectual level, try to create some idea at the ecologistic level, do something which will make me famous and so, all these are basically for what? to get some purpose for life, as I was earlier telling food, clothing, shelter are not the purpose of life, they are necessities of life, but they are not the purpose of life, just like all of you have come to IIT now the purpose of coming to IIT is not to eat in the mess that’s a necessity, you have to eat but you have not come here for IIT for that you have come here for a higher purpose that is to get education that’s an article in my first book, don’t miss your spiritual IIT chance that is something like when you come to human life, the purpose of life is not eating, sleeping, mating, they are required but purpose of life is something higher, and through this people create some purpose but you see all these purposes, they are unrelated to our real self our real self is the soul, our deepest need is love and when people enjoy their senses they are actually thinking that this person is loving me or I am loving this person but it’s not love, it’s lust lust is a vasana, love is a bhavana, there is a difference between them similarly when people want something intellectual, egoistic their idea is that if I get this then others will love me more why do people want wealth? because if I have wealth then people will love me more but actually unfortunately people love not the wealth not the wealthy but the wealth of the wealthy and that’s why people are disappointed in the long run but at the spiritual level, at the level of the soul our innermost need is love and sometimes people think that if I have to become spiritual then I have to give up everything material that’s not necessary because spiritual does not just mean giving up material spiritual means connecting with the spiritual, connecting with the spirituality that is God and in the path of gyan to connect with God, we have to disconnect ourselves with the body, mind and intellect stop all all activity, stop all thought stop all thought then you become thoughtless, timeless and you attend samadhi that is the idea of samadhi thoughtless, timeless existence what is existence? thoughtless, timeless existence is like a big zero Prabhupada gives a simple example he says that somebody is sick so at that time sometimes people have arthritis or some pain so you move your hand so whatever activity we do, we feel pain and at that time a person may feel then I will be free from pain, that’s fine but how long? after we stop activity, we will be free from pain but after that again we will want some activity because our goal is not just to be free from pain, our goal is to actually be joyful so the impersonalists understand that all the activities at these levels at sensory, sensual, mental all these levels they create agitation they create misery, they want to stop the activity but what next? you stop the activity, you become free from misery, but what after that? we need some positive activity so the process of bhakti is not just about disconnecting all these from matter, ultimately all these are going down to the conditioned soul and subtle body and the gross body and all this ultimately drags down to matter but ultimately bhakti means the gyani idea is to connect the soul with the spiritual reality or to disconnect yourself but bhakti what we do is we use our senses, our ego to connect with Krishna and then through this we connect ourselves with Krishna that’s why bhakti is much easier with our senses to chant the whole name, imagine if every morning we have to wake up doing mantra japa at 2 hours is difficult enough, we go to sleep but imagine if you are told 2 hours, just sit no motion, no thoughts and no sleep it’s impossible at least you can chant loudly you can walk, you can stand just close your eyes and sit actually most of the time when people go for the silent meditation sessions the pleasure that they get is just the pleasure of sleep it’s not the pleasure of meditation because what happens is even from the brain point of view the brain activity becomes lowered when there is meditation and brain activity becomes lowered when there is sleep so the two are that way very close to each other they just go into sleep instead of meditation so what happens is stopping all activity to try to become spiritual is a very difficult way but yes, use our senses use our mind, use our intelligence and how does a devotee use his ego? a devotee uses his ego to glorify Krishna and just as an ordinary person feels insulted when he is disrespected a devotee feels insulted when Krishna is disrespected that’s why when Ravana criticised Lord Ram Hanuman got angry so a devotee dovetails all the bodily, mental, intellectual, egoistic faculties in Krishna’s service that’s how we become Krishna conscious so if you become conscious of me then you will pass over all obstacles by my grace so the real obstacle in life is actually that we don’t know what purpose to live for so some people may choose some purpose I want to become IIT I want to get a M.Tech or a PhD, whatever but then what do you do after that? after that think of another goal, another goal, another goal and then we will find out these goals don’t satisfy us then just go on a wild goose chase, on chasing something which can never be caught or attained now on other hand, what is the purpose that Krishna consciousness gives us? the purpose of loving Krishna and how do we love Krishna? by service to please him so now for example, if somebody says I want to become a PhD now if he becomes he will have some egoistic satisfaction after that it’s over if he doesn’t become, there is frustration why? because this happiness depends on certain external condition the condition is that I want to acquire a PhD or a boy so called falls in love with a girl then wants to get that girl, so again it depends the girl has to agree, the parents have to agree and then even if they get matched, the natures have to match and then they live together there is some pleasure so all these are external conditions on which one’s happiness depends and especially Prabhupada calls all the souls for such happiness as conditioned souls now what is a conditioned soul? a conditioned soul is a soul whose happiness depends on so many external conditions and if those conditions are not fulfilled then there is no happiness a liberated soul on the other hand is not somebody who has developed four arms or something like that, a liberated soul is one whose happiness does not depend on any conditions how do the devotees happiness not depend on any conditions? it’s because a devotee focusses on the principle of serving Krishna not specifically on the form of serving Krishna that means Prabhupada was trying to preach in India and yeah he tried to write a magazine but nobody was taking it he tried to start an organisation but it didn’t work, he tried to help his god brothers it didn’t work, but still Prabhupada was not discouraged because his goal was not just to do these things and become famous that I am an author I am a founder of an organisation his goal was to serve and please Krishna and Krishna’s pleasure depends not on the result of our activity but on the endeavour in our activity if we are endeavouring wholeheartedly Krishna is pleased if we are endeavouring wholeheartedly Krishna is not concerned about the results on the other hand in material life even if we endeavour wholeheartedly if we don’t get the result then material life is of no use suppose somebody studies very sincerely for getting through G.A.E and then at the time of exam he falls sick the endeavour was there but there is no result, is there any fruit of it? no fruit so therefore Krishna therefore often the way the world judges us is unfair so I worked so hard just something went wrong, I don’t get anything but the way Krishna judges is always there if you are putting an endeavour whether the result comes or not we are successful because we have pleased Krishna and that’s why we will be satisfied by having served and pleased Krishna Krishna will manifest his presence in our heart in his heart and he will be happy so Jaya Devotee Maharaj once telling that very senior leader has gone so one devotee asked him Maharaj you have been practising Krishna watching for almost 30-40 years now so what is it that inspires you and gives you faith? he said in Vrindavan there is one Brahmachari who has been serving Charanamrut there for the last 32 years now he is there and every time when I go in the morning he is there serving Charanamrut now he doesn’t have any fame he doesn’t have any followers he is not very knowledgeable as a teacher but how is he able to go on for 32 years because through his service he is pleasing Krishna and Krishna is manifesting in his heart and giving him happiness so a devotee may get material things also a devotee may become famous a devotee may become learned a devotee may become talented by serving Krishna more and more but it is not required for happiness by our service if we please Krishna Krishna manifests in our heart and we become happy therefore the real problem in life is not that I am not getting a job or that there is a recession in the market or whatever the real problem is that we don’t have an inspiring purpose for our life that can take us beyond these problems now as a devotee even if we are trapped anywhere like one time our devotees were in the devotees from New Vrindavan were distributing books and they were in a particular city so they had taken permission from the mayor but the sheriff was a hardcore Christian and he was very annoyed why these people are propagating a pagan religion so the sheriff sent the police and had the devotees arrested for disrupting the law and order for dancing on the streets so they took him and put him in jail and it was Sunday and the devotees were planning to go back for Sunday feast and suddenly one of the devotees remembered they were very disappointed that they will not be able to go, not dance in the kirtan not have the Sunday feast and hear the class then one of them remembered he had written a letter of devotion that Krishna accepts manas puja also so then they decided oh let us have a Sunday feast in the prison itself and all of them all of them became excited ok I will cook puris I will cook pakodas I will cook pulavas they are all cooking manas puja they did the offering they did a real kirtan they had a real class and then everybody sat down for having food and when they had feast, the best feast we ever had because there was no shortage of anything and no matter how much you eat there is no indigestion problem we are free and we are in jail the point is that gives us a purpose that does not depend on external one day in Australia I was put in jail so he wrote to Prabhupada Prabhupada I am in jail and I have no bail so Prabhupada replied what is the need to get out of jail? whatever happens because our purpose of serving Krishna does not depend on external conditions if the external conditions are favourable we will get the result of the service if the external conditions are not favourable we will not get the result but still we can please Krishna and that’s why a devotee can always be happy so actually we should not think that by Krishna consciousness we will get a problem free life we will not get a problem free life we will get a purposeful life the goal of life is not just to be problem free the goal of life is to be purposeful so by Krishna consciousness we will get a purposeful life and that purpose is not just ok I study because why? because I want marks ok the exam is over you get the marks or you don’t get the marks so now you have to think of another purpose another purpose, this is all temporary but the purpose of a devotee is to please Krishna one way of pleasing Krishna is doing my studies and trying to get good marks for Krishna so when we get a purposeful life then life becomes joyful on the other hand without a purposeful life then then and Lord Krishna goes on and he describes so the next two verses he describes if you don’t hear me you will be lost he elaborates on that you are saying you will not fight for me you will not fight but you will fight eventually because you are a Kshatriya and then you will be engaged by material nature and you will be miserable at that time therefore act according to my direction and then he says that a super soul is present in everybody’s heart surrender to that super soul that lord is present in everybody’s heart surrender to that lord and then in 63 Krishna completes his message he says so Arjuna now I have told you the message I have told you knowledge more confidence than what I have told you before now deliberate deeply on it and decide what you should do as you desire in the bible there are 10 commandments the Bhagavad Gita is not so much a book of commandments as it is a book of choices you do this Krishna if you do this, this will happen you do this, this will happen now you decide what you want to do it is a book of choices choices and consequences of the choices Krishna tells us both so now Krishna has completed the Bhagavad Gita but then he sees Arjuna lost in thought so Krishna has said this is the 2nd chapter then the 5th chapter is this, 7th chapter is this and then when Krishna sees Arjuna so lost in deep thought the compassion in Krishna’s heart overflows sarva-guhyatamam bhuyah the most confidential knowledge I will tell you now these are the supreme words that I have spoken most confidential knowledge the supreme words and why am I giving it to you ishta means dear you are dear to me and how dear? determined so Varacharya has translated it as Krishna is determined to love the conditioned soul the conditioned soul is determined to forget Krishna in fact what is modern advancement modern progress means basically new ways of forgetting Krishna one TV channel, one way of forgetting Krishna 100 TV channels, 100 ways of forgetting Krishna isn’t it so there are newer and newer ways of forgetting Krishna the conditioned soul is determined to invent newer and newer ways to forget Krishna he is determined to forget Krishna therefore for your hitha I am speaking this to you and then he speaks so now this verse two and a half lines of this verse have already been spoken by Krishna in 9.34 but there he says but now what he says again because his heart is overflowing I have told this message to Krishna I have told this message to Arjuna why is Arjuna having any doubts I am telling you the truth I declare it to you why am I telling you the truth I love you Arjuna therefore I want the best for you and therefore I am telling you the truth this is what you should do you know all of us we want good things for ourselves but we want good things we don’t even know what is good for us but Krishna wants not only the good he wants the best for us because you are dear to me therefore I am telling you the truth please do this now Arjuna may have a question but you have told me so many other things what about all that forget about all those things don’t worry about it all just do this whatever I have told you, forget it do the only thing, you surrender to me and what about all the sins that will be there he says you don’t worry I will take care of all those sins so Acharya gives a beautiful example in the 7th chapter towards the end Krishna has said only when you become free from sin then you can become my devotee you become free from sin you do pious activities then you can become my devotee don’t worry if you are sinful just surrender to me so sometimes the mother she is training the child how to keep himself clean he has to respond to nature he has to go to the washroom and respond to nature but the child sometimes spoils his clothes soils his clothes and spoils his clothes and the mother says don’t come close to me you go and clean yourself first then you come to me now that is Krishna’s mood in the 7th chapter after you become free from sin then you come to me but then the child says so that is Krishna now ultimately whatever happens Krishna is there with us Prabhupada had this remarkable ability when the professor was introduced to Prabhupada the professor Thomas Hopkins and he met the disciples first and he found something very bewildering he found the devotees were completely convinced and completely confused he said they were completely convinced about doing what they were doing but they were completely confused about what the philosophy was so he said I couldn’t reconcile this if you are confused you are undecided, you cannot be convinced then he said this was resolved when I met Shri Prabhupada so because they were so naive they were just coming from hippie background they didn’t know the philosophy much when Prabhupada said oh these Mayavadis are so we were thinking that there was some person in Kolkata who was calling faith in people what faith? not faith in their own abilities but faith that there is a living loving God who will help them if they try to serve him our devotees without any money he told them you go to India for preaching they said come to India and the flight landed in Egypt and there was a big break Egypt where Nazir had been assassinated devotees came out of the flight and started dancing and singing and suddenly the security was there you go and preach in Pakistan now we have several beautiful temples in Pakistan also especially in Sindh area they gave confidence we are not just practising some sectarian religion not just hoping somehow that there will be no problems in our life but determined that we want to serve and please Krishna how Bhagavad Gita is a message of love of Krishna and then we discussed how we transcend the problems how it’s not the problems go away but we had a purpose so inspiring that the purpose cannot be shaken by any problem and we discussed how there is bodily level mostly people are bored sensory level intellectual level may be a little more steadier but once it’s achieved or if it’s frustrated it’s gone completely egoistic level also something like that but at the spiritual level we are no longer conditioned souls because our happiness does not depend on any conditions in all these levels our happiness depends on the fulfilment of certain external conditions which are not in our control that’s why there are desires and there are fears and because of that there are tears but for a devotee his purpose is to please Krishna and Krishna is pleased by our endeavour not just by the result of our endeavour and so a devotee can wholeheartedly serve Krishna in all situations whether he is getting the results or not and lastly we discussed how Krishna gives the message of love just don’t worry, forget everything else and by reading Bhagavad Gita reading Prabhupada’s purpose of Bhagavad Gita the faith that Prabhupada was able to give the disciples you can get that there is a living loving God who will always be with us if we try to serve him Thank you very much during my talks I have committed any offences by speaking harshly I am used to speaking harshly so please forgive me for that and please accept my humble obeisances
