So, anything else, yeah? Those who relate to the astronauts also. That’s moving on. Especially in Hinduism, the nature of the material world and the nature of the material mind is that it becomes attracted to the material forms.
And especially to the forms of the opposite sex. And this is a universal concept. Not only in the human forms, actually even in the animal forms.
We can’t even distinguish between, say, a male cockroach and a female cockroach. Can we? There is a cockroach. It has guts to eat us.
But actually a male cockroach is mad after a female cockroach. Let me give you a female cockroach. A female cockroach, look at her eyes.
Her heart starts getting shattered. You can’t even know what are the eyes and how is she raising it. There is all species, they biologically relate in such a way that there is this attraction.
And unless one understands that the beauty of this world and the attraction to it is false, one cannot become, even materially, what we speak of becoming spiritually, it’s a concept. So, if you see, and especially in the modern times, you may know about the, one of the early presidents of America. He was caught red-handed having some, you know, he molested a woman, and he had to lose his post in the grave because of that.
That is, he took the person, the most powerful person in the most powerful country in the world, and he is overpowered by this false attraction. So, it’s no small thing. So, we will discuss some things about this false attraction and how to direct it towards reality.
So, first we have to begin with understanding that attraction is false. So, we use the acronym TIME. Time means T-I-M, do it vertically, T-I-M.
So, T is temporary. I is illusory. And M is? Illusory.
E is? Enjoyment. So, there is the enjoyment, everything is enjoyable, but it is? Temporary. Illusory.
Miserable. Temporary. S-O-R-Y.
Illusory. And? Miserable. Enjoyable.
Miserable. M-I-S-E-R-A-V-E-L-E. Well, enjoyment.
So, take for instance, if you see the beauty queen of the 50s or 60s. Now, if you look at the tall beauty queen, where is her beauty going? It is just temporary. And it looks very attractive at this stage.
But, it is just a flash. It is actually just the beauty of the skin and it goes away in a short time. And it is illusory.
Illusory means, there are some philosophers or some spiritualists who say that the beauty of this world is false and it is not attractive. But then, they don’t know about real beauty. Now, there cannot be any such thing as a false beauty unless there is a real.
You cannot have a counterfeit coin unless there is a real one. So, in the Ramayana, 15th chapter, it was inscribed that this world is like an upside down diamond. So, it is Urdhva Moolam Adha Shakham.
Moolam. Moolam means? Roots. Urdhva means above.
Roots are going up. And Adha. Adha means below.
Shakham. Shakha is? Above. So, the roots are going up and the branches are going down.
Now, is there any tree like this? Which is tree like that? Where can you see the tree? In the water. Yes. If there is a river, I am sure there is a diamond tree.
If you see the reflection, you will see that the tree is going down and up. The branches are going down and fruits are coming up. That means, through this enigmatic analogy, Krishna is saying that this world is like a reflection.
And suppose there is a mango tree on the bank of a river. And there is a mango on the tree. But in a person sees the reflection.
And he dives in to get the mango. And what happens? He dives in and hits his head. Because the wrong head is there.
And where is the mango gone? And he comes here and again sees the mango is still there. And again he dives in to get it. Is it a true mango? Is it false? The reflection is false.
The reality is false. So, see that the beauty of this world is there. But it is not actually there in the objects of this world.
The beauty of the world is a reminder, is a reflection of the beauty of the Lord. God is not an impersonal God. He is a supremely attractive person.
So, we will come back to Krishna’s beauty later once again. When we talk about real beauty. But before that, we also need to understand how the attraction of the beauty of this world leads to misery.
Generally, when we see movies and we see advertisements, they will show the one side of the coin. That there is so much environment in this attraction. But along with the environment, there is a lot of suffering that comes.
And that is never too easy. So, what is the suffering? So, for this we have the acronym. Be Simple.
B-E-S-I-N-P-E-L-E. Be Simple means, don’t become foolish. Don’t try to become sophisticated by the tongue.
No, no, you can write it vertically. B-E-S-I-N-P-E-L-E. So, what all are the miseries that come when a person gets attracted to the opposite sex in an erudharmic way, in an religious way.
Yes. So, first thing that we have to say at this age. Because the western culture is coming in.
So, the culture that a person can have say girlfriends, a person can have a relationship with the opposite sex and things like that. There is a pleasure in that. But you know what all are the things that are hit by that.
The first thing that is hit is, B-E-S-I-N-P-E-L-E. B-E-S-I-N-P-E-L-E. Banned balance.
Now that you are saying that. A man never worries about his future till he gets married. And a woman never worries about her future after she gets married.
Why? Because man is entangled now. So, now there is nothing wrong with marriage. But especially what happens, see in this world life is made in such a way that a woman for her, her attraction is her body.
A man is attracted to the body of a woman. And a woman, she is not so much interested in the body and the attraction of a man. That may be part of it.
But a woman wants things to enjoy. Things to provide. That’s why a man has to spend money to show off his wealth.
To show off his greatness. And to impress the woman. And later on, we conducted a seminar on transforming our worst enemy into our best friend.
Transforming lust into love. So in that seminar, I had a seminar in various colleges all over India. And there we found groups and we asked the students only to tell examples from their own friend circle or from their acquaintance circle of youths who got involved in relationships with opposite sex and such.
And now, for each of you, I will tell some stories. These are all real stories that I have heard from students like all of you only. So this was, this happened, many of the stories are in IIT, Varanasi.
Because there I conducted a seminar twice. So there, there was this boy. He was in Surat actually.
So there was this boy who got attracted to a young girl in the college. And the girl was from a very poor family. And the boy was from a wealthy family.
And then, the boy started spending lavishly on her. Not taking her to parties, going here, going there. And he was losing his money.
And then eventually what happened? He wanted to get married. And the boy was, and the parents opposed. And the girl said, the girl knew her parents were going to oppose.
She said, if they are going to oppose, then how can we live with them? And before marriage, what happened? They separated, the boy separated from the parents. And they lived together. And this girl was very cunning.
And she arranged in such a way. She behaved in such a way. And in six months after marriage, that boy had to divorce the girl.
And when she divorced, she got 50% of the estate of the boy. That’s the law called divorce. So now, this is of course an extreme case.
But the point is that actually people squander money like water or worse than water. When they get involved in these things. And that is one of the main reasons for the presence of corruption in society.
Why? Because when a man is entangled with a woman, he wants to flaunt his wealth. And then he has to get wealth from illicit means. So lust leads to greed.
It affects the bank balance. No doubt about it. And more than that, E is education.
Education means, we come here for studies. But then a student gets involved in trying to develop an intimate relationship with the opposite sex. What happens? The mind is kidnapped.
So by the desire for enjoyment the mind is kidnapped. Yes, you are in front of the book but the mind is with that other person. Can’t study only.
So this is a story from Warangal. There was a boy who was a topper. And his girl was a mediocre student.
But somehow they got attracted. And from that time that they got attracted, what happened? The boy’s girl’s grades started decreasing and the girl’s grades started improving. Why? Because the boy would not do his department studies.
But he would complete the assignments of the girl just to please her. And he would teach her subject to her. And he would not do his studies.
And finally in the third year itself, the boy flunked. The boy failed. And as soon as he failed, what happened? And the girl chose another boyfriend.
So it’s very unfortunate. But even if somebody doesn’t get involved in that extreme, the point is education. We have come to college for a particular purpose.
We have to get education, we have to build a career. And if we get distracted by this, then studies are terribly effective. It’s something which is very painful for everyone.
For a person, for his parents, for everyone. So if we want to be focused on studies, we have to save ourselves from this sort of entanglement. And of course, S is the soul.
It is described in scriptures that the soul has the ability to express eternal happiness in spiritual world in relationship with God. So God is like Premasagar, Anandasagar, Anandamudi. Notion of happiness.
So imagine there is a small fish. Or there is a thirsty person. He is on the verge of the ocean.
All that he has to do is, he has to go inside and drink the water of the ocean and be happy. But then instead of going towards the ocean, he looks back. And he sees a mirage.
Mirage, you know? And he runs after that mirage. And he runs and he runs and he takes the water and drinks it. All that he gets is burning sand.
He spits it out. And again his eyes show another mirage. And he keeps running and again he gets that burning sand.
So, what is that mirage compared to? Mirage is compared to the beauty of this world. And the ocean is compared to God. The soul can turn to God.
And enjoy unlimited happiness. But the principal thing that distracts the soul from turning to God is the attraction to the beauty of this world. So, the soul is still entangled in this world in the hope of enjoying the beauty of this world.
In fact, in Bhagavad Gita, last Krishna describes as आवृतं ज्ञानमेतेन ज्ञानियो नित्यवैरिण कामरुपेन कौंतेय दुश्पुरे नानमेच. He describes that नित्यवैरिण is like such an eternal enemy. It travels us life after life after life.
And because of this attraction to the material enjoyment only that we stay in this material world. This आखंसार चक्र. That is soul.
आ is intelligence. Intelligence means कामाई स्थरिष्थै रुद्धव्यानः. That when material desire becomes very strong and intelligence gets destroyed.
How the intelligence gets destroyed? At several levels. First we said that we don’t have any piece of mind, any focus to study. But earlier we were also discussing about how, today morning we discussed briefly, about how when a person tries to enjoy unlimitedly, either by physical relationship or by imagination, then that person loses his vital fuel, loses his simul.
And the simul is made of the same building blocks as the brain, brain tissues. And then the brain gets depleted. And the person loses determination, the person loses focus.
Practically can’t do anything properly, right? So, now the seminal laws is something which is very serious and all the traditions talk about it. All the Vedic traditions, even the western traditions, even the Egyptian traditions, there is great emphasis laid on continence. Continence means self-control.
Continence does not necessarily mean celibacy. Celibacy means no engagement in sex. But continence means restrained engagement.
That means if a person is married, then the relationship won’t be even married. That is called continence. So, why is there emphasis on continence? It’s because when a person, he loses a lot of semen, he loses his intelligence with that.
And now there are modern psychologists who do a very misleading picture. And they say that semen, what is the danger in using that? You lose it and it’s formed again. You lose it and it’s formed again.
So, it’s just like urine. You just have to excrete it. But it’s very misleading.
The semen, when it combines with the ovum in the mother’s womb, semen can produce a body. With all the faculties, speaking and walking and thinking, like all of our bodies. Now, can urine do that? So, urine is waste water that has come out of the body.
But semen is supercharged nutrition from the body which is all concentrated together. So, actually we describe that from blood, there is child that is formed, there is fat that is formed, marrow that is formed. And the seventh and the richest element that the body produces is semen.
And semen, that richness of nutrition of semen is used to either form a new life and a new body or that richness is used, in the case of celibates, to nourish the brain. But that richness of nutrition of semen is never meant to be squandered. Otherwise the intelligence gets destroyed.
And if you look, in the earlier times, people were Shuddhidhar. Shuddhidhar means they would hear and they would remember. Now, people write and forget.
Why is that? It’s excessive semen loss. In fact, according to modern history, the time when man started writing in the history, they consider that as a significant progress. But according to Vedic history, according to Egyptian history also, around 2500 BC, there is a particular angel who comes and tells the king that I will teach you how to write.
I don’t want to learn this. Why? Because he says writing will lead to the decrease of human intelligence. If I start writing, then I will stop exercising my memory.
So now the memory is so decreased. Why decreased? Because there is so much undiscovered loss of vitality as intelligence. And M is mind.
Mind means, people say we want peace of mind. The mind is very peaceful. What can we do for peace of mind? But why is the mind peaceful? The primary reason why the mind is agitated is mind is not in peace is because of the desire for its enjoyment.
So, the desire, the hope, the anxiety for its enjoyment perpetually agitates the mind. इद्याबाच्छान्तिर अनन्तरम् Krishna says about it. That is, it just renounces and repeats.
But if one gets entangled, then especially when people have premarital, extramarital relationships, then there is so much agitation of the mind. Because one has to hide and do something. One has to be duplicitous.
One has to get his mind terribly agitated. So, one of the easiest ways to lose peace of mind is to get involved in all this. See, there is one important principle here that in this many relationships, there is some pleasure initially.
But that pleasure is followed by a lot of suffering. So, Lord Krishna in the 18th chapter, 37, 38, 39 verses, he talks about different types of pleasure. So, you can repeat one verse after me, which talks about the pleasure in the mode of passion.
So, you can repeat.
So, when there is contact of senses with sense objects, the tongue wants to eat delicious food, विषयेंद्रियसाई योगाद or the eyes want to see beautiful forms. So, when there is विषयेंद्रियसाई योगाद and what happens by that? यतत अग्रे, अग्रे means? अग्र means? In the beginning. यतत अग्रे अम्रतोपमं अम्रतोपमं means? It’s like nectar, it’s very enjoyable.
परिरामेविषमिवाद परिरामे means? Result. What is the result? विषय विषय means? It’s like poison. परिरामेविषमिवाद In the beginning it tastes like nectar but in the end it tastes like poison.
तच सुखा राजसंस्मितः That happiness is in the mood of passion. So, there is a little initial pleasure. But what is the pleasure like? It’s the pleasure of drinking delicious poison.
Think of drinking delicious poison. It’s delicious, so as long as it’s on the tongue, it’s delicious. But once it goes inside, then it’s going to burn in the stomach, and kill in the stomach.
And some people say, okay, little I will enjoy. Maybe I’ll see a little nasty images. But I won’t get involved in relationships.
That is like somebody saying, okay, I’ll drink a little delicious poison and vomit it out. Before it goes inside. Very dangerous thing.
If you know one drop goes inside, it will kill us. So, that is N. MIND Our mind gets terribly agitated by the sort of indulgences. And then P is PHYSICAL PHYSICAL is P-H-Y-S-I-C-A-L-Y PHYSICAL is the body.
So, physically what happens when a person gets involved in relationships? Sexual relationships, what happens? Weak. Not just weak. Something much more serious happens nowadays.
Yes. The main energy is AIDS. What? There is no aid.
There is no aid for AIDS. AIDS stops everything. I know one friend.
In Pune, we have a medical college called BJ Medical College. And in the medical college, there are more females than males. But one boy was like a hero.
Many of the other students would get attracted to him. And then this boy, he had many illusions and got AIDS. And AIDS is such a terrible disease that it just destroys our immune system.
So then, a person may get some small malaria or some small common cold. And the common cold doesn’t go away. It stays on and on.
So, this person, he got a disease by which his whole body started becoming numb. And he would not die. So, six months he was in the hospital.
And his whole body was decaying, rotting. And this person was thinking himself like some hero, some star. Earlier, it was such that even the nurses and doctors were not willing to treat him.
They knew that nurses and doctors don’t want to treat him. Because they are afraid he will get the disease. That’s what happened.
And these sort of diseases are not so uncommon. According to WHO, the way illicit relationships are spreading, then in 2050, the world economy will be terribly destabilised if AIDS keeps spreading. Because what happens, AIDS is hitting the most productive section of human society.
The youth. They are the people who make the economy run. And they are hit and immobilised by AIDS.
So, the economy will be terribly destabilised. And according to current predictions, it’s widely ranging because many times when people get AIDS, they don’t even tell others that they have AIDS. And they try to hide it.
But generally, they are saying between 30-50% of the human population, youth population will have AIDS. 30-50% means 1 out of 2 or 1 out of 3. It’s terrible. So, the way it’s spreading, physically, it will be terribly large.
And AIDS is just one of the diseases. That is encephalitis, gonorrhoea, so many other diseases which can happen in illicit relationships. And the whole idea of condoms is actually a hoax.
You know, there is no really proven study done to show that condoms can stop the transmission of HIV. That’s just a confuse with all of you. There are many well documented cases of it.
Even if you use a condom, the HIV-C gets transmitted. There is a good possibility that the HIV can be restricted. But still there is a possibility that HIV can be transmitted also.
The whole idea is that condoms are propagated just to increase the sale of the condoms. But they don’t save a person from AIDS. So, when we… You know, God has… I’ll come back to this later.
And L is life itself. A lot of people get frustrated in love affairs and then commit suicide. It’s so horrible.
You see, in Warangal when this happened, there was this one boy and girl, they were classmates. Actually, in Warangal, one of the professors… Tomorrow I’ll meet my professor, Professor Kanchan Chaudhary. So, there also we have a professor.
The professor’s name is Professor Harikrishna. And he’s a Harikrishna devotee. So, he was telling me, this boy and girl, they were his students.
And he saw them in all the eight semesters. So, in the first semester only they developed a relationship. And they had their relationship going on.
They would wander all around hostel on their bikes. And of course, he said, right from the beginning I observed that as their relationship matured, the boy’s grades were going down and the girl’s grades were going up. And in the final year, they had decided, we’ll just pass out and then we’ll marry.
But in the final exam, the boy was so excited, as I’ll marry and I’ll enjoy, that he didn’t study properly and failed. And the girl passed. And then she got a job in Mumbai.
In a big multinational company. And the boy said, we’ll just wait for six months. And I’ll also join and then we’ll get married.
And within two and a half months, the boy got the news. You know, if that girl is loose enough to form a relationship with a boy before marriage, what stops her from evolving her relationship with some other boy? Now, she developed a relationship with her boss. However, the boss is a much more financially attractive person.
Very much so. And, within three months, he got married off to a great boss. And when this boy came to know about this, on the same bike, that he would travel all around the campus, he went into a nearby forest, took the fuel out from the bike into a bottle, poured the bottle on his body, and burned himself.
So, this happens. And, one of the major reasons, because we are like spiritual counsellors, many times, for me also, I was in Mumbai, I was giving a talk on faith. So, after that, there was a big talk, almost 1000 people were there.
One boy came and told me, the boy was on crutches. His leg was broken. I asked him, what happened? He told me that he was frustrated in love affairs and he jumped off from a three-storey building.
And he didn’t die. He just broke his leg. And he was saying, I got this talk, I got a new direction in life.
And they were asking something, how to go ahead. It is very common. Especially, one of the major reasons, for suicide, apart from frustration and career, frustration is love affairs.
So, we go through life, and not just through love affairs. In Africa, when the AIDS epidemic was spreading, one country, I don’t remember exactly the name now, it’s one of the West Africans, Ghana or 11 of the countries, there, 5000 young Africans committed suicide. Why? Because the Western propaganda had reached there.
Western propaganda means, undressed and semi-dressed women that agitated the mind. And then, in Africa, they also had the fear that AIDS is spreading. So, the mind was agitated with the desire for enjoyment.
But the mind was also fearful of the consequence of enjoyment. And they didn’t know what to do. And just because of frustration, they committed suicide.
This can happen. Because AIDS is a very painful disease. They didn’t want that, but they had the pain of being tortured by lust.
So, what to do? And of course, ultimately, he is everyone else. When we succumb to lust, we cause suffering not only to ourselves, but to others also. See, when a man becomes lusty, he becomes the source of fear for women.
And when a woman becomes lusty, she becomes the source of agitation for man. So, last Krishna describes is mahāśano mahāpāpmā vidyē namihavairinam It is the mahāśano, all-devouring. So, mahāśano is very important to understand.
Sometimes people think the desire to enjoy is there. Let me enjoy a little bit and then the desire will go away. No.
It’s like putting fuel in the fire. What will happen to the fire? It will go. Lust will not go away.
Mahāpāpmā, it will make us do all sorts of sinful activities that you can’t even imagine. What will it make us do? Vidyē namihavairinam The greatest enemy in the world. So, therefore, we have to protect ourselves from this.
And this is not meant to frighten us. This is not meant to threaten us. This is just meant to alert us.
Because our media, it just gives us one side of the story. If you see all the movies, they will show only the relationship between a man and a woman before marriage. How many movies talk about what happens after marriage? Because after marriage, everything settles down into normal life.
Everything is boring. Love is blind. But marriage is an eye-opener.
So, then, the media keeps us blind by showing only the love before marriage. So, of course, in Vedic culture, there is the gṛhasthāśram, where a man and a woman, a husband and wife, can come together. But then, that is, the woman is not just an object for jāna.
She is a dharmapati. The husband and wife, they come together for the purpose of serving God together. And for the purpose of raising God-conscious children together.
So, the purpose of the function of sex is procreation, not recreation. There is some enjoyment in that, but that enjoyment is not the purpose. The purpose is procreation.
If you see, all the species in life, everybody has a biological union. The monkeys, the donkeys, the horses, the camels, everybody. But all the species, if you see, the lion and the lioness, they unite only in a particular season.
Most of the animals. And then, when they unite in that season, then the actual result of union is childbirth. And they take responsibility for childbirth.
And that is the way nature works. Only humans think that we will enjoy and we will not take responsibility for loss. But that doesn’t work.
And that leads to abortion. Abortion is nothing short of murder. Killing a child.
So, the way nature has made it, this particular arrangement, is such that this is meant for procreation. And it is a very wonderful arrangement by which we can bring a soul into this world, give it a body and train him also to become a devotee of God. So now, sometimes people say, why should I artificially control myself? Let me just be natural.
Let me just enjoy. I don’t want artificial suppression. Actually, there is no artificial suppression that the shastras are recommending.
Actually, there is artificial agitation of the mind in our society. There is artificial sexual stimulation. Imagine that.
Actually, say, if you are travelling in a train, we travel lots of experience. If you are just in the jungles, there are no agitating postures in jungles. You come to the city and immediately you see all the hurricanes.
So, it’s not that what the scriptures are telling you is some terrible life-denying control. No, it is a real natural life. But our society has made us artificially agitated.
And artificial agitation doesn’t give any real enjoyment. So now, this is, that’s poison. But then, why is this attraction there at all? The attraction for the opposite sex and especially the beauty of the opposite sex is very deep in there.
So, what is the reason for the attraction? It is described that lust is a perversion of our original love for God. Just like, this is a steward light. The steward light is giving white soothing light.
But if that steward light gets covered by a red glass, not only the colour of the light that will come out of it, it will be a glaring jarring red. It is the same white light which becomes red because it is covered by a red film. So, similarly, the soul is pure.
And the soul has a natural purity. So, there is a pure love for God, for Krishna. But when the soul gets covered by the body and mind, then that love gets perverted into lust.
So, as devotees, first level we understand that, yes, this lust is dangerous so I have to control it. But controlling it, just trying to control it is artificial. We don’t have to only control it, we have to spiritualise it.
We have to revert that force to the original direction. That means the same vector, say this is the body and say this is the person, here is the person. And then, say here is the person.
So, there is a vector, the force which drags the person towards the objects of this world. But this same force is actually a perversion, there is Krishna here. And this force which is meant to attract us to Krishna, that is perverted and it is attracted towards the objects of this world.
But, if we revive our original attraction to the Lord, then what happens? Then this attraction goes away. Attraction decreases significantly. So, the attraction in the form of this world, that is the result of Kamadeva, who is called as Mother.
The Cupid, you have seen this? May be this is also a symbol of a heart with arrow in it. Isn’t it? What is that actually? That is the arrows of Kamadeva. They are called as Pushpavan.
Pushpavan means, they look like flowers, but when they pierce, they pierce like arrows. Initially it is very pleasant, but after a while it is completely So, that Madan is what is causing the attraction and agitation of the mind. But then Krishna is known as Madan Mohan.
Krishna is the attractor of Cupid, who attracts everyone. So, when we become attracted to Krishna, then Madan has no control over us. And the process of Bhakti is not just a process of artificial separation, but it is a process of spiritualisation.
As soon as we chant Hare Krishna and pray to Krishna and read the Bhagavad Gita associated with devotees, then this force can be controlled and it can be spiritualised. And originally, Krishna is all-attractive. Krishna’s beauty, in the western religious tradition, there is an understanding that he is God and God is great.
But there is no positive description about God. According to the time, place and circumstances, the revelation was partially. But in the Vedic scriptures, there is a description of God and his beauty.
And when we understand that description, then it becomes very easy to actually understand that this is the original beauty. And in a way, I should become attracted. So, it is described, So, in the present, please meditate, the bright smile of the Lord.
He has got bright reddish lips. He has got shiny teeth. and the teeth of the Lord are so beautiful and shining that when the Lord smiles, his lips are reflected in his teeth and that creates a captivating sight.
And then he says, So it is described that the Lord’s beauty, especially the Lord’s eyebrows, the Lord’s eyebrows are curved, just like the eyebrows of the objects of this world. Why? Because when a devotee meditates with beautiful eyebrows of the Lord, then the spiritual arrows of love are shot from them and they attract the devotee. And then he says further that the Lord’s smile is so attractive, when the devotee sees the Lord’s smile.
Then, That in this world, there has been so much suffering that has been there in our lives. In this life and so many beautiful lives. So all the tears that we have shed, if all of them are accumulated, that will form a big ocean.
That will be suffering. But the Lord’s smile is so beautiful that even this ocean of sorrow can dry up, can get evaporated. I mean there is so much beauty and so much joy that results from seeing that beauty that all the miseries become insignificant.
He says we are searching for beauty everywhere, but that all attractive Lord who is the source of all beauty is present in our own heart. In our own heart. The heart is compared to K. That Supreme Lord is there.
Then what should one do? With devotion, let us offer our mind to the Lord and therefore, not be attracted to anything else which is to us. And in this spiritual attraction to the Lord, there is the supreme happiness, the supreme freedom. And we don’t deny the beauty of this world.
A wise person, when he sees the beautiful objects of this world, what does he think? Yes, this beauty is a reminder of my Lord’s beauty. So I will not get attracted to this beauty. You know that I look at this beauty and think I will remember the Lord.
That’s not possible. We actually understand that this beauty is a reminder of the Lord’s beauty. And let me become attracted to that.
And let me not become distracted by the form of this world. And this way we can return back to the Lord. I will conclude with a small story.
When Krishna was in Vrindavan, at that time, Krishna was with the Gopis. Now the Gopis are devotees. If you see the Gopis just as young women, and you see Krishna as a young man, then you will have a material vision.
But the Gopis are actually devotees of Krishna. So, because the Gopis are devotees of Krishna, so this is a reciprocation of love. Just like we have love between Hanuman and Ram or Arjun and Krishna.
So the forms should not be bewildered by that. So when Kamadeva, Cupid, he thought, young boy and young girl, I will control everyone here. And Kamadeva started shooting his arrows at Krishna’s heart.
And he had to think, I will control Krishna now. And I will agitate Krishna. But Kamadeva was shooting his arrow, shooting his arrow, shooting his arrow, nothing was happening.
And Kamadeva was very disturbed. He said, this has never happened. When I shoot my arrows, what happens? Big, big people, they get completely knocked out.
These all control. But nothing was happening. And then, Krishna, he decided to teach Kamadeva.
So Krishna turned and glanced at Kamadeva. And Krishna glanced, just like in this world when a woman glances at a man, she raises her eyebrows and his heart shatters. He said that these curved eyebrows, they are like the bow of Kamadeva.
And from there the arrows of love are mustered in short. Then what did Krishna do? Krishna glanced at Kamadeva. He made his eyebrows.
And with Krishna’s glance, what happened? Arrows of love went from Krishna into the heart of Kamadeva. And Kamadeva fell unconscious. So that is Kamadeva.
That is the power of Krishna. So, that Krishna is in our heart. And when we serve him, when we chant his holy names, then he casts his glance on us.
When he casts his glance on us, our heart becomes completely attracted to him. And that is the greatest joy of life. So, how do we attract Krishna? So, when we are agitated in this world by the forms, what we should do? We should just try to remember Krishna and chant his holy names.
The Lord’s beauty and his glory manifests in Kali Yuga as his holy name. So, if the mind gets agitated, just try this next time. When the mind gets agitated, just start chanting.
Keep chanting, keep chanting, keep chanting. And you will find the mind will become peaceful. It will just become silent.
It will stop being agitated. So, the Lord, who is all-beautiful, has manifested his holy name. That holy name can fill us with his perverted attachment.
It can make our heart pure. It can awaken love for the Lord. It does make us genuinely happy.
So, I will summarise it. If you have any questions, we can discuss some questions. So, first, we started with this acronym.
We discussed the verses. And then we elaborated on the lessons we studied. T is temporary.
So, the whole drama is still in the streets. In one week, the beauty can go away. Or after a few years, the beauty will go away.
It is all temporary. Illusory, what does illusory mean? What are the examples used for illusory? Mirage. Mirage.
Mirage is one example. It seems to be water, but there is no water. One more example from Bhagavad Gita.
Upside down tree. So, upside down tree means there is a real tree somewhere. So, the beauty of this world is false.
In the sense that it is a reflection of the real beauty of the Supreme Lord, the Spiritual Lord. And I discussed elaborately about how this beauty is miserable. Attraction to this beauty causes misery.
Discuss B was? What was the bank balance? Ladies are tempted by the bank balance. Sorry? Ladies are tempted by the bank balance. Can I say? Don’t ask a woman her age and don’t ask a man his salary.
Because both are temporary. Try not to give money all his life. You also have to repent.
Yes. So, I told the story about how that middle class girl married a wealthy boy. She divorced him.
She got a large part of her estate. Bank balance. E is? What is the example? What happens when we? Sorry? Yes.
Yes. Very true. A true story.
Last story was suicide. Yesterday I was telling you about how the images that are formed. It appears very pleasant to associate with the opposite sex.
But when we hear the soft voice of the opposite sex. Or when we hear their laugh. When we see their glasses.
Then they are like mental glue. They stick in our mind. And then they make freedom.
Therefore, in all cultures, there is always the separation of the sexes. Monarchs, they think they are advanced. But they are actually creating more suffering for ourselves.
That was education. It’s ruined. And S is the soul.
What are the examples of the soul? What are the mirages? The soul stays in the material world. Not only attracted to the Lord. Because of the hope of enjoyment in this world.
And I was intelligence. What was that intelligence? Semen. Yes, somebody else.
Semen. Yeah, semen forms the brain. And that is wasted then.
Our memory gets decreased. Can’t function properly. M is? Mind.
What happens to the mind? Agitation. Instant agitation. Because then there is hope, there is fear.
There is excitement. There is panic. So many emotions that go through.
Because of this end time moment. And D is? Disease. What are we discussing that? Disease.
So many terrible diseases occur. Ramdev Chowdhury is saying that so many, huge percentage of youths may be immobilised because of disease. And L is? No sorrow.
Youths who feel sorrow as intense as frustrated love. And you could feel that killing oneself is better than maintaining oneself. And E is? Yes.
The person becomes lusty then. What happens? When a man becomes lusty, what happens? He becomes the source of fear for the woman. And women are making a lot of agitation now.
What are the men? They are uncontrolled. They are abusers. They are molesters.
They are rapers and all that. But then, what are the women doing? They are also lusty, isn’t it? And they are lusty. And what happens when a woman becomes lusty? They agitate the man.
So both cause problems to each other. That’s why men are good and women are good. But when they come together, there are very bad results.
Therefore they can stay separate. Except in the sacred ties of marriage. And then we discussed about? We went back to the illusory aspect.
How there is real beauty in Krishna. And you become attracted to Krishna’s beauty. His form is eternal.
His beauty is eternal. And when you become attracted to him, you return with rejoicing. We discussed about? Krishna’s smile which can dry up the ocean of tears.
Krishna’s teeth which reflect the shine of his lips. Krishna’s eyebrows which fill our heart with spiritual love. And that’s the source of all beauties in our own hearts.
So are they searching for beauty elsewhere? We try to become attracted to the Lord in our hearts. And that can be done by chanting his name. So this was Madan and? Madan Mohan.
So Madan tried to elevate to Krishna. But Krishna floored Madan Mohan. By his siding lines.
That Madan Mohan Lord is our hope. He is our source of happiness. Any questions? I know this is not the most collectible topic that we want to hear about.
But sometimes we have to hear something which are crucial for us. To know. So there is no imposition in spiritual life.
As I said that. There is darshan also. Those who want they can be brahmachari.
They can save their mind from complete agitation. And entanglement. In fact, if somebody feels the need they can be darshan also.
And there also there is regulation. Union is not for the purpose of enjoyment. It’s a sacred time.
As I said for the purpose of both closer and closer back to God. Why can’t we reproduce essentially like bacteria? Because we want to enjoy. But they are also good.
Because of their karma they have been given their form. That is okay. But they have been described as that thing.
No, it is described as just like. See, there is regulated enjoyment. As I told you about darshan.
When you do darshan for the propagation of children. When a person unites. That is not considered as sinful.
That is considered as religion. Dharma, vrinda, bhuta. You should come also for darshan.
But that actually means. Activity of creating life. So extraordinary.
Can you imagine? Creating life. That is a manifestation of God. Manifestation of divinity.
Then it is done for the explicit purpose of bringing the light to this world. So, if there is unregulated enjoyment. Then there is loss of freedom because of that.
Just like you saw in the Kailash drama. When he didn’t feel responsible as a human being. Then he became a dog.
As a dog, he doesn’t have the freedom to turn towards God at any time. He is just in the ahar, vrindavan, vrindavan. You can keep him independent.
Like that, the more unregulated our enjoyment. See, God has given us some freedom. The material nature is observing how we use that freedom.
Just like say, our parents also will see that. They may give us some pocket money. And they will see how we are using the pocket money.
If we use it properly, then they actually want to give the whole estate to us. Ultimately. But sometimes they see that the son is misusing the pocket money.
They may stop giving the pocket money. Completely. So, like that God has given all of us free will.
And material nature is observing how we use that free will. And if we don’t use that free will properly, if we abuse it. To exploit others, to exploit resources of nature.
Then, that free will is taken away. And in the animals, at least they have the freedom to move around. But in the trees, even that freedom is taken away.
The trees, because the free form is given for those souls who are quite sinful. Very sinful. So, then, because of their terrible misuse of free will in the previous human form.
Their free will is taken away so much that they can’t even move. Their only source of success and happiness in life is grooming. That’s all.
How much I want. I can’t do anything. So, why has that happened? Because of the former misuse of free will.
Now, the free will and emotion that is associated with free will is taken away. Same thing with bacteria. Souls are called the micro species.
They have come into very sinful activity. That’s why they want to be a species. Okay.
Any other questions? The first thing I want to ask is, because that is their duty. But why is human being and dolphins getting the pleasure around this company with free will? That’s really the best pleasure. In the lions, actually in the lions, they are put in the cage.
And when the mating season comes, and the lion is not given the opportunity. Yeah, but that is there for everyone. If you see dolphins also, it’s not that they mate all the time.
They also have their time. It’s only humans because of artificial agitation. In the human form, we are in a peculiar predicament.
In the animal species, life is almost like a programme machine. For example, yesterday on Ekadashi. So, devotees, they understand, okay, this is a day for fasting.
But if a cat sees a rat on Ekadashi, this is today’s Ekadashi, I will fast. Not possible, you see. There is no question of regulation for them.
So, life is more or less like programmed. As soon as they say poo, comes on immediately. But in humans, the programming is much lesser.
And we have freedom. So, now this freedom leads to a slightly peculiar situation. Peculiar in the sense that the soul in the animal body completely identifies with the animal body.
A dog thinks I am a dog. But in the human form of life, the soul has got the human form. The soul also identifies with the human form.
But the soul, because the consciousness is more developed, the soul wants to enjoy much more than what the body can offer. In the animal species, the animals enjoy only what the body can afford to enjoy. Generally speaking, the animals never overheat.
Like a tiger, if it catches a prey and catches some deer or something, it will eat as much as it is full and then it will go away. And the jackals come and eat the remaining. Animals never overheat.
Of course, sometimes when monkeys are contaminated by human association, then they also become fat. They also overheat. But generally, the animals live according to nature.
But we humans, it is not only us humans, we are eating also. Generally, if you see, do you see lions becoming fat? There is no such thing as obese lions. Humans are obese.
Some lions may be better built than others. But that is the way they are built. They are not obese.
They are not overweight. Humans, because the soul is having more consciousness than the animal species, the soul wants to enjoy more than what the body can allow. And that’s why the soul does all the activities extraordinarily.
It tries to eat more than what it can. It tries to have sex more than what it can. But what should we do actually? These activities we cannot enjoy as much as we want.
Because the body’s capacity to enjoy them is limited. It’s not unlimited. If somebody says, okay, I will not restrict myself to marriage.
I will have relationships wherever I want. Okay, even if one has that wealth or that influence, one can have relationships. But still, the enjoyment is limited.
I said, the enjoyment is only for a few minutes. And after that, it’s over. Even if the most beautiful sex object is there for enjoyment, once the semen is exhausted, there is no enjoyment.
The body’s capacity to enjoy is like a sponge filled with water. When you first squeeze it, wow, so much water. Again you squeeze it, so much water, wow.
But then ten times you squeeze it, there is only the pain of squeezing it. No water at all. Many people think, especially in the West, there is a lot of free mixing.
In India, the free mixing is not there so much. It’s coming. So in India, what happens? People imagine a lot.
There is a lot of enjoyment and I am being deprived of the enjoyment. But what we have to intelligently understand, think and convince our mind, is that even if there is complete freedom for enjoyment, there is still limitation. This limitation is because of our own body.
Our body is only a limited facility for enjoyment. And what can we do about it? Imagine, let’s say you are trying to get a 5 star hotel. And you just come and eat as much as you want.
The whole hotel is at your disposal. Can we eat as much as we want? We can eat. But then if one day we eat as much as we want, the next day we will have to fast.
We will have constipation or lose motion or whatever. So our body needs enjoyment. Therefore, rather than trying to get more and more enjoyment in irreligious ways, in dangerous ways, in miserable ways, through the body, a wise person redirects his enjoyment towards the soul and towards God.
And seeks enjoyment in that. What was your question again? I hope I answered it. So, as it’s not only in humans, the drive is more.
Because the soul, the conscience is more. But in all species, the drive is there. Any other questions? In most of the species like birds, animals, male partner is more attractive.
Then why in male, only female partner is more attractive? Peacock is more attractive. Lion is more attractive. Why in male, man, woman is more attractive? For the peacock, the sheep is more attractive.
For the lion, the lioness is more attractive. It’s a relative perception of vision. For a lion, when he feels… For him, what is the difference between male and animal? Both are in the lunch box only.
There is no difference. It’s a relativity of vision. There is differentiation.
But it depends on our scale of observation. Our way of perception. As I was saying about the cockroach, we can’t even differentiate.
But for the cockroach, she cockroaches, he is a beauty queen. So, you can’t perceive it. It’s a relativity of perception.
Any other questions? Yes, sir. What is the relationship between God and angels? Yes, that is… Because we are angels separate from God, we are all souls belonging to the spiritual world. And when we leave the spiritual world and come to this world, we want a substitute for God for our own journey.
God is the ultimate object of our life. Natural object of our life. But when we decide, I don’t want to serve God, I don’t want to love God and enjoy relationship with Him, then we substitute object for love.
And the substitute is created by Brahma in terms of male and female. So, for the female, the male is substitute for God. And for the male, female is substitute for God.
So, that is created because of our own desire for separate enjoyment. And when we redirect our love towards God, then His direction is not there. Any other questions? How is it made to practise? How can we increase our faith? One of the most important thing is, associate with those who have faith.
And hear from them. Not just associate, but hear from them. By hearing, Krishna described in the Gita that, touch rule.
He described the process of how we can come to love. In chapter 1st verse, So, He described six stages, how we develop love for Him. So, first is, hear.
Hear about Him. What will happen by that hearing? We will get knowledge about Him. Actually, we don’t know much about God.
So, although we say, I don’t have faith, actually what we don’t have is knowledge about Him. So, how can we have faith? Just like, if we don’t know a particular doctor, somewhere, how can we have faith in Him? When we hear about a doctor, we hear about how many patients he has cured, from what terrible infirmity, then actually, along with the knowledge, faith will also come. So, by hearing, we will get knowledge.
And knowledge, when we get that, not only we have no knowledge about God, we have many misconceptions about God. So, asamsayan, the doubts go away by hearing. When we get the knowledge, then the doubts go away.
It is like, the knowledge of God is like the sun. When the sun rises, the darkness goes away. So, doubts from our heart go away.
And then, yogam, madhahashraya, asamsayan, when we understand, yes, God is my benevolent father, my Lord, then madhahashraya, we take shelter of the Lord. How do we take shelter of the Lord? By performing yoga, by performing bhakti yoga, by chanting the holy names. And then, we chant the holy names, then the result is, our mind becomes attached to it.
There are two kinds of faith. There is one faith called shraddha, that is, beginning or tender faith. And then, when we practise bhakti, regularly, chant the holy names, then we come to what is called nishtha.
Nishtha is unshakeable faith. So, at the fatal time of, shraddha is like a banana, nobody can come and shake it. But the fatal time of nishtha is like a banyan tree, unshakeable.
And how does it result? In the bhakti, the growth of bhakti involves nine stages. So, shraddha is the first stage. Just like, all of you had some shraddha, some little faith, that’s why you have come here, for the camp.
And now, soon, we are hearing from devotees. So, because of shraddha, we do sadhusangha, associated with devotees. And by sadhusangha, then, the devotees tell us, please chant Hare Krishna, please worship Krishna, then the bhajana kriya.
In bhajana kriya, do you know what happens? Then, anartha nivrtti takes place. The lust, anger, greed, envy, pride, they all disappear. By chanting Hare Krishna, you also experience this, that this happens.
If in an earlier situation, you don’t get angry, then you stay calm and live in the situation. And then, when we see, the process actually working in our lives, then, after anartha nivrtti comes, nishtha. So, the primary thing is, keep associating with devotees, and keep chanting the holy names.
So, we have a little shraddha, and we keep watering it. Shraddha is like a tender beech, right? It’s a small beech. We keep watering it, it will grow into nishtha.
Okay? I have one question. When we say, women are less intelligent, that is not necessarily in a material sense. Women do better than men.
But, when the scriptures, or the sages talk about women, they talk about spiritual perspective. The first step in spiritual realisation is to understand that, I am not the body. I am the soul.
That is the beginning. That’s what is the instruction of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, in the beginning of the second chapter. Now, for a female, to understand this is very difficult.
Because for a woman, her whole sense of identity and self-worth comes from her body. Why is everybody attracted to women? Because of her body. So, for a woman to understand that, I am not the body, is very difficult.
For a woman, that means her intelligent body is very strong. And that’s why we consider it as intelligent. In the male form, also the intelligence of the body is there.
But in the male form, it is relatively less. And it’s possible, by analysis and mutual understanding, one can become intelligent. So, among the two species, the two, male and female, human forms, the male form is much more conducive for self-realisation than the female form.
Sir, it is said that God lives in us. And why do we need to drown to the river? Yes. Good question.
Actually, just as, Tile Tailam, Ghrite Ghristam, there is a long one, Tile Tailam means, just as, in a seed, there is oil, just as in milk, there is ghee, just as in wood, there is fire. Just as, like there are many examples, you see, there is, but you can’t perceive. How do we perceive the fire, whether there is oil? It’s a process.
Even if you cut, cut the wood, the fire will come out. The process by which the fire can be ignited. And similarly, there is a process, by which the oil is extracted from the, seed, from the nut.
You just crush the nut, the oil will not come out. It’s to extract. Similarly, there is a milk, ghee is there, but there is a process.
Similarly, the divine is present in our hearts, but there is a process for, us to perceive his presence. He is there, and the process is churning our heart. It’s like you churn the milk, to get ghee, energy.
First butter and then ghee. You churn, then curd, water, yoghurt and all those things. But, this is the process.
Similarly, the process of churning the heart, by chanting the holy names. By which, we can, invoke, and experience the presence of the divine. Otherwise, God is there, we can’t feel his presence at all.
Sir, it’s like that, you can check. You can check. Sir, we should stop.
It’s too long. Does God look exactly like in the pictures? Good question. Actually, the pictures look like God.
See, the scriptures, contain descriptions of God, God’s form, as he has revealed. When he appeared in this world, and also, other sages, have seen in their devotional readings. For example, Brahmachandra describes, What? It’s true.
His eyes are like, green red speckles. He’s wearing a peacock feather. His complexion is blackish.
Beautiful form. His form is more beautiful than many other cupids. There are descriptions, which are given in scriptures.
And whenever the deities, which are made in the temple, or pictures that are made, they are made according to these descriptions. And, especially when the deities are there in the temple, the deity is, with the great devotion of God, pray, Mary, Lord, you please manifest your presence here, so that we can see you. So that we can offer food to you.
We can express our love to you. So that person’s beautiful shape, is a spiritual science, by which we can offer our love to God. God is everywhere.
But how can I offer my love to God, if God is everywhere? I need a person to offer my love to. And therefore, God manifests himself in person, in the form as a human being. So, that is the way, we can engage our senses, in serving God.
When the senses become purified, and then, we can perceive God’s presence everywhere. Now, we can’t perceive God’s presence anywhere. So at least, go to the temple, and go down to God, and offer prayers to God.
At least, feel God’s presence, in the temple. And then, when by that, perceiving all your God’s presence in the temple, and become purified, and become fully purified, then, we see the same God everywhere. We see him in the heart, and we see him everywhere.
That is the process. Surely? Why not? That is the process. And see, based on, the last question, based on, in the process, see, earlier I was telling about the movie.
See, so in the movie, the person is caught up in the movie, that he is not watching, what else is happening? What, he is just caught up completely in the movie. But there is a person sitting right next to you, in the seat next to you. But he is not, watching that person, in the movie.
You know, Pooja described that, समान व्रिक्षे पुरुषो निमगनो, अनिशया शोचति निमाना, युष्तम्यदा पशन्ति अन्ने निषन, अस्यम निमाना, विठी पर शोका. This guy, there is one tree, on which two birds are sitting. So, one bird is just, pecking all the fruits, eating, eating, eating, eating the fruits.
And he is, completely absorbed. And there is another bird, just sitting and observing. That bird, that tree is compared to the, And the eating bird is compared to the soul, all of us.
And the observing bird is compared to God. So, observing, like I was watching a movie. I have caught up in that.
So, what the bird has to do, stop getting busy in, just eating the fruits. And do, do nothing. युष्तम्यदा पशन्ति अन्ने निमाना.
That means, become detached, from your things, and turn to your God, become attached to God. That is what we do. I think I have seen her now.
She is already waiting for us. Thank you very much. I actually thank all of you.
This is what we need to learn. Then, unless we get rid of that inarticulation, we cannot love the child. So how do we get rid of that inarticulation? It can be either by killing and ourselves giving up the inside.
But if we don’t do that, then we will experience and see the truth of it in our life and then get rid of the inside. So that the experience of unrestricted, wholesome, sinful, illicit enjoyment is available in Kriya Yoga for people who want it. And by experiencing it, they will understand the truth of it.
And then they will return to God. Sadashivoham. Now, Golden Age is going on.
After Golden Age, Kaliyuga is there. There is so much… That is what the soul needs. You are there when I talk about soft treatment.
Soft treatment. That’s what is required. That’s what the Lord gives.
I couldn’t ask it in front of everybody. I asked them, I’m afraid they’ll miss me. Maybe they’ll stay.
Now, in my hostel, where I stay, everybody talks about everything and sees everything. And I do try myself to… I don’t… But the thing is… They all say that there is no God. There is no problem.
At least in hand practises. And… Watching the things. So, I don’t have any reply to them.
I can’t make them understand. And either… In fact, I myself think whether what I’m doing is correct or not. I do know that it is wrong.
But again, I’m in a daydream. In all the scriptures, they say that if one wants to go towards God, the Bible says, come and be separate from me. The direct instruction is, come and be separate from me.
No one follows the sign of God in the Bible. The Bible tells us, that among thousands, one will be interested in spiritual knowledge. If thousands are interested in spiritual knowledge, one will know me.
So, we have to be special. If we try to come to the standards of what all other people think, then we do not really live a life of principles. Now, the second thing is that, what is the answer? Something which is in your mind.
Now, all around, it is simple. Many of those words which you can speak, they are not simple. This is an intellectual condition.
So, I feel that you are made to believe that not a few people are spiritually interested in religion, but you don’t know how to answer their questions. It is so easy. Whatever questions you try to think about, in a few minutes, we can discuss those questions.
In a few minutes, we can answer those questions. One thing, you don’t expect that everybody will be appreciative of your life of principles and religion. But still, what you can do is, you can find some students.
Like, there are some other students also who are in your mind. You try to be friendly with them. And, we are non-religious people.
We need a society around us. Either we have a devotional society or we have a non-religious society. You try to become friends with them.
And then, they will very much appreciate your principles. And then, we will be encouraged in your spiritual life. We have got a good friend, Raman was telling about a spray that you come for this guy.
He was friendly to the Lord. He called you several times also. So, that itself, that a devotee is worrying about you, itself is a sign that the Lord has such a mercy on you.
Please take care of his association. He is valuing you. Let’s say, he will come and he has to go out of India.
But, he is there for at least 6-4 months. Please take care of him.
