Hare Krishna I welcome you all to the嗚ṭhtyānatrayodashi mahāpāvanāmsa.
So, The most important ruler of Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu that the most important king, Nityananda Prabhu will be discussed today on his autocratic history. So, Nityananda Prabhu who was referred to as Nityai so I, Nityai, in English it is spelled N-I-T-A-I so in this lecture I will be discussing the five qualities of Nityananda Prabhu which will be in the form of an acronym So, we will start with N Non-judgemental God loves all of us So, many times we say, I have so many problems in my life where do I see God’s love? I am praying for my problems, they are not going away So, in reality since childhood we have learnt a language and the older we get, the more we learn another language What language have we learnt since birth? That is the language of asking The language of asking for rights When a child is born, he cries What does he do when he cries? He is asking for something that I want milk, I want love, I want protection I want this, I want that It is natural But asking for rights we have learnt it since childhood But as the child grows up he slowly starts to understand that whatever I ask for in my childhood, I will get it But when he grows up, he learns that whatever we ask for, we don’t have a right on it We won’t get it And even if we don’t get it, we have to move forward in our life So, when a child is born, he doesn’t get anything So, what does he do? He starts crying And what does he do when he cries? He expects that if he cries, he will get it But when we grow up, we won’t cry But the same language Now, this language is not the language of our behaviour that we speak It is the language of our mind It is the language of our mind when we use this language to talk to our mind to speak to our mind then different kinds of negative thoughts come to our mind Depression comes Inferiority complex comes Negative thoughts come Why do they come? Because we expect that I want to get this and I get it And when we don’t get it, we won’t cry when we grow up But our mind cries And why does our mind cry? Because different kinds of negative thoughts come to our mind So, love and relationship in love are not the same Love can be unidirectional But a loving relationship has to be bidirectional That a person can love another person So, there is no hindrance in loving No one can stop anyone from loving But if you want to build a relationship in love, then that person also has to be bidirectional If that person doesn’t love again, then that person is not able to build a relationship in love So, parents love their children just like they love their children But when that child grows up, then that child also has to do something for his parents He has to study, he has to take responsibility So, love comes naturally But a relationship is built in love when that child gets the responsibility in the language of right gets the responsibility It’s not like I will cry, I will ask, I will get it No, I have to study, I have to do this I have to do that The more a person understands, the more he grows The art of growing up is the art of learning to take no for an answer gracefully So, many times we will ask for something Life will give us the answer but we won’t get it So, how much do we accept no? It’s not like we will never get it Maybe we will get it in the future But we won’t get it then The more we accept it When we grow up, we have to accept it So, this relationship between child and parents is actually our relationship with God So, when we are living in this life So, actually our existence is dependent on something greater than us Right now we are breathing in this The air we breathe in we didn’t create it We drink water, we didn’t create it We work with this body We didn’t create the interior of this body So, actually we have to do any work we are dependent on many things and we are not creating that So, all these things are actually obtained by God’s plan I have given you a lot of things But maybe I have not got this or that in my life And whatever I have not got My mind, like a child gets upset that I have not got this Similarly, we get addicted to those things which I have not got And because I have not got that, whatever is left in my life I do not see that And in reality, this is the situation So in that situation, we can never be satisfied Because this is a habit of the mind To see what is not there and not to be upset about it So parents love their children Everyone loves their children But the relationship in love It is as firm as the child is big As the child reaches from the language of mother to the language of responsibility And in the same way, the way parents love everyone Everyone loves their children In the same way, God also loves all his children पिताहमस्यजगतो मान्तानाकापितामा In the 9th chapter of Purvottaka In the 17th verse, Lord Krishna says I am everyone’s father, I am everyone’s mother I am everything, everything came from me And God not only resides in his Dham, but he also comes from there. Sambhavami Uge Uge He comes in every era.
And why does he come? He comes to wake us up from the spiritual consciousness to the spiritual consciousness. God comes from the top to the bottom so that we can go from the bottom to the top. So God comes from the top to the bottom so that he can teach us the way to go from here to the top.
He can teach us the way to wake up our consciousness to the spiritual consciousness. It means that we can do our duty in the language of asking. Because there is one thing in asking, but there is another thing in doing.
And both are important. So when God’s avatar comes, God comes in many eras. And he comes there because those who are living in this world forgetting us living beings, no matter how much we try here, we can get a little bit of happiness.
But nothing is permanent in this world. The only thing constant in this world is that nothing is constant. Because there is only one thing in this world that nothing is permanent.
No matter how big a building is, in reality, it may seem that such a big building can never fall. I also went to New York 4-5 months ago. The place where the twin towers were, that place was built by the Amitabh Bachchan Memorial.
So that museum there, it is said that the American Twin Towers were a symbol of the security, the prosperity, and the surety of the great American dream. It was not just a building. That building was a symbol of how much progress we have made, how much security we have achieved, how successful we have become.
And it is said that the fall of that tower was like an unerasable scar on the American psyche. It was such a wound on the American psyche that can never be healed. So why did it happen? It may have a practical reason.
The terrorists came from here, they did this, and fell like this. But if we go beyond the perspective of the situation, we see that no matter how big a building is, nothing is permanent. So that is why if we want permanent happiness, if we want permanent happiness, then we have to go beyond the physical level and go to the spiritual level.
Someone may say that I don’t believe in spirituality. I don’t know where it is. Who has seen spirituality? Who has seen the soul? Who has seen God? I don’t care about it.
Okay, we don’t care. But still we all see that we all want permanent happiness. The Adhikansh movies, Adhikansh Kadambariya, which one sells the most? That is the Kadambariya of romance.
And in that Adhikansh is most famous, and they lived happily ever after. They were always happy about it. Now we see that what is being told, they lived happily ever after.
Bhagavad Gita is the opposite of this. What is this world? Dukha-lev-ashashvat. So happily ever after.
Dukha-lev-ashashvat. Bhagavad Gita says that this world is the abode of sorrow. Ashashvat.
And we can see that no one is going to live forever. And happiness is also permanent. But still everyone has this desire in their mind that I am happy.
And I am permanently happy. So where did this desire to be permanently happy come from? If we see in the society around us, in the world, nothing is permanent. So where did this desire for permanent happiness come from? If a person is living in a small village in India, he has never heard of pizza.
He has never heard of pizza. And he has this desire to eat pizza. So where did this desire for pizza come from? You have never heard of pizza.
There is no pizza around you. So where did this desire for pizza come from? So similarly, nothing around us is permanent. But still, we all want our life to be permanent.
We are in a permanent relationship. We can get permanent happiness. The desire for the eternal in a world that is perishable points to an aspect of our being that is eternal.
Because in our situation, nothing is permanent. So where did this desire for permanent happiness come from? It is not coming from outside. It is coming from within.
There is an aspect, a part, a part that is permanent. And that permanent happiness is what we desire for. That permanent happiness is what we are attracted to.
That permanent thing within us is actually our soul. And this soul, this spiritual, eternal, consciousness is in the form of a particle. And the source of all this is God.
So the desire for love, the desire for a relationship in love, is actually a form of a relationship between the soul and God. The relationship that we can get with God in a permanent form, that relationship we find in this world with different people. The more we grow, everyone grows physically.
But the more we grow spiritually, the more we grow mentally, the more we understand that in reality, the desire for love, the desire for happiness, is at a very physical level. That is why I want to go beyond this. I want to progress spiritually.
The more we understand this, the more we have evolved in reality, the more we have progressed. So, the God who comes in this world, sees that there are different beings in this world who are at different levels of spiritual evolution. And they give their message to each other.
Their objective is that everyone should progress. For example, the parents, some children are very innocent, some are irresponsible, some are responsible. The parents want the best for their children.
Similarly, the God, wants the best for all beings. In this way, they are non-judgemental. They don’t discriminate who should be given their blessings, who should be given the opportunity to progress spiritually, who should be given the opportunity to understand their doubts.
So, these feelings, there are different eras. The present era is called Kalyug. And in every era, there is a God to teach the Dharma.
For example, if a king comes, he does not come alone. The king comes with his messengers. Similarly, God is the king of kings.
When he comes in every era, he also brings his messengers with him. So, the incarnation of Kalyug is Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Kalyug pavan, kalibhaya nahash.
So, by following Kalyug, he destroys the fear of Kalyug. And Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is actually a form of Krishna. Like Krishna has his brother Balramji, like Lord Ramachandra has his brother Lakshman, similarly, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has his brother Nityananda.
And Nityananda Prabhu has a very distinctive character. We see that in Ramayana, sometimes Lakshman gets angry easily. When Ram gets the punishment of exile, he does not get punished.
He does not make any mistake. But still, he gets that sentence, that order, that you should be forgiven. So, Ram accepts it.
But Lakshman gets very angry. This is very unjust. He should be punished.
He gets angry with his father. He says, if he is doing this injustice to you, then we will fight him. Ramachandra says, actually, I don’t want to fight you.
This is the game of justice. Because of this, I am in this situation. So, Lakshman gets very angry.
He argues with Ram. He says, cowards accept injustice as justice. Braves accept injustice.
So, Lakshman gets very angry. This is his divine feeling. And this is for the service of God.
But, Nityananda Prabhu is Akarodha Parmananda Nityananda. He is not angry. He is not angry.
What happens is, in Kali Yuga, if you see the living beings doing wrong things, then apart from anger, there won’t be any emotion. Because, so many wrong things are happening. So, what does God do? He takes a different emotion.
He takes the emotion of ultimate compassion. And in this emotion, the living being, no matter how much he is doing wrong things, he doesn’t see the place, he doesn’t see the place, he doesn’t see the character. What is the character of the living being? He doesn’t see the place, he doesn’t see anything, he doesn’t see anything.
He gives everyone his compassion. So, Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the incarnation of Kali Yuga. And that, in Yuga Dharma, is the name of God.
It is the foundation of God’s glory. tat hari ki kalau tat hari kirtana In Kali Yuga Dharma, Hari Kirtan, which is mentioned in Shrimad Bhagavatam, to propagate that, God says, vande mahapurushati charanarvindam He comes in the form of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is the great incarnation of compassion, his compassion is further enhanced by Nityananda.
So, these two brothers, vande Shri Krishna Chaitanya Nityananda sahoditau gauro jaye kushpavantau chitrau shandau tamodau These two brothers, let’s say, the Sun and the Moon, both are his and both are erasing the darkness. So, Sun and Moon, both have different light. Sun’s light is warm, Moon’s light is cold.
Similarly, Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is in compassion, but he also expects that you do this, Nityananda does not expect anything. He comes to everyone. Wherever he is, you do bhakti.
adhamapati to jivena dware dware ghiya adhamapati jivena dware ghiya He knocks on the door and asks you to chant the name of God. You chant the name of God. And, in this way, he encourages everyone towards spiritual consciousness.
And, what is there in this? We are talking about non-judgement. We are talking about non-judgement. How is he doing this? He is intoxicated.
He is enraptured with God’s love and compassion. He is enraptured. For example, he is intoxicated.
Normally, when we say intoxication, intoxication is temporary. It is bad. But, it is a different kind of intoxication.
The Jeeva always wants that we get such happiness that we engage in such activities that we get such happiness and love that we forget everything. So, if we see in our life, what are the solace and happiness? When we fully engage in any activity, we forget everything. The moments of the highest satisfaction are the moments of the highest absorption.
The more we engage in the more happiness we get. So, engaging in any activity is a kind of intoxication. Some kind of intoxication takes us down.
When a person drinks alcohol, what happens? He does such a thing that he himself gets embarrassed and troubles others. But, the intoxication of God’s love is such that the intoxication of liquor brings the worst out of us. The intoxication of love for God brings the best out of us.
The intoxication of God’s love brings the best out of us. So, Lord Nityananda got into the intoxication of God’s love. What is he doing? He brings His compassion to the highest level.
To such a level that He encourages every person to give God’s grace. So, Jaitanya Mahaprabhu’s incarnation took place in Bengal around 500 years ago in Navadvipa. There, Lord Nityananda was 12 years older than him.
He was born from that place and went on a pilgrimage all over India. Later, when Jaitanya Mahaprabhu was 20 years old, he started the pilgrimage of Harnaam. At that time, Jaitanya Mahaprabhu came there.
Navadvipa was such a place that there were different types of people. Some of the people were born in a well-to-do family but later they became very ill due to intoxication. So, among such people, the two Brahmins Jagadananda and Madhavananda became Jagai and Madan.
And they used to do very evil things. They were living a very sinful life. And they were living such a life that people used to run away when they saw them.
Because they didn’t know what kind of atrocities and injustice they were doing. So, when Nityananda Prabhu saw them, Nityananda Prabhu was intoxicated. And Nityananda Prabhu went straight to them and asked them what they were doing.
They didn’t believe what they were doing. If we want to have a relationship, there has to be a platform of predictability. If we do something, how will the person talk? We say a small thing and he whispers it.
So, we don’t know what to do to establish a relationship. So, the more unpredictable the person is, the more tense the relationship becomes. The relationship becomes unstable.
So, Jagai and Madai were such people who didn’t know what to do. Nityananda Prabhu was so intoxicated that he was thinking what will happen if we help them. He was in love.
He wanted to help them. His intention was to go straight to them. When he went to them, Jagai and Madai were so intoxicated with their own powers and fears.
Some people are such that when they come, they bring happiness. Some people are such that when they leave, they bring happiness. Some people are such that Some people are such that So, when some people come, they get happiness because they get scared.
They think that they have to show their power. They get scared. They get scared.
So, Jagai and Madai were such people. They felt their own power. They used to feel that everyone is scared of them.
But Nityananda Prabhu went to them without any fear. He got anger. When Nityananda Prabhu told them that Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has come as a great avatar to uplift the Kalyug.
He has in the name of Hari. So, everyone can be uplifted. You can also be uplifted.
You can also be uplifted. So, now, Nityananda Prabhu was in one kind of intoxication. Madai was in another kind of intoxication.
Jagai and Madai were in another kind of intoxication. So, the intoxication of alcohol is of different levels. Some people are in intoxication.
They understand that they are in intoxication. So, if they go out and get intoxicated, then they should not drive. So, they took a taxi or called someone else.
They should not drive. If they are very intoxicated, they should not drive. So, when the intoxication is very high, they do not realise that they are in intoxication.
So, when Jagai and Madai heard that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has come for your upliftment, they thought who should I uplift? Who should I uplift? Who is encouraging me? Who has so much courage? So, Madai was drinking alcohol from a pot. What did he do? He got angry. He did not have any weapon.
So, he picked up the pot and threw it on Nityanand Prabhu’s head. He threw it on Nityanand Prabhu’s head. He was nearby.
So, what happened? He got a wound on his head and blood started flowing. When blood started flowing, Nityanand Prabhu became very calm. Along with him, there were other devotees like Haridas, etc.
Haridas was there. Haridas saw what was happening. Immediately, other devotees went to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to tell him that this is an attack on us.
Nityanand Prabhu was so intoxicated with love that without seeing anything, he was giving everything to Bhagavad Bhakti. But, when someone attacks us, it is natural that we resist. We do not resist when we do not have the power to resist.
But, if we have the power, we say, you are a lion, I am a lioness. What is the normal human tendency? When someone attacks us, we resist. If we do not resist, we run away.
This is the normal human tendency. In English, it is called fight or flight. You either fight or run away.
But, in both, you hit me, I will hit you. You hit me, I have to run away. In both, the fight or flight response is based on self-centredness.
What do I have to do? I have to think about myself. But, as Nityanand Prabhu said, N-I-T-A-I-T means Transcendent. Divinity.
So, Nityanand Prabhu did not think why did he need to attack me? What will happen if he attacks me again? His only worry was how to get rid of Madhai. So, he hit me with love. What did he do? He said to Nityanand Prabhu, you hit me, but still chant the name of God.
Chant the name of God. This will get rid of you. So, he was very peaceful.
Even though he was injured. Actually, it was not just an injury. It was a physical injury.
Along with that, it was a big insult. A big crime. He was doing it for the welfare of the country.
Why did he attack me? What was Nityanand Prabhu’s feeling? He was a young boy. He was 1 or 2 or 3 years old. His mother told him to drink milk.
What did he do? He hit his mother. He was a young boy. He was a young boy.
But he was 15 or 20 years old. He was doing it like that. So, it was an abuse.
It was an abuse. You can call it an abuse. It was an abuse.
So, now, Nityanand Prabhu even though he was hit, what was he seeing? He was a young boy. He was not understanding. He was trapped in his own physical consciousness.
That’s why he was doing it. So, he was seeing how to give him true wisdom for his welfare. At that time, Chaitanya Mahaputrananda came.
What did Chaitanya Mahaputrananda see? Both of them are God. But their feelings are different. Chaitanya Mahaputrananda saw if someone sees a young boy from outside, he doesn’t consider him a young boy.
He was very big, powerful. He was like a goon. So, he saw that he has attacked Nityanand Prabhu.
He was very angry. And this anger was actually because he was in love with Nityanand Prabhu. Because he was doing such a good deed.
How could he attack him? So, he got angry. What did he do? Chaitanya Mahaputrananda himself called his Sudarshan Chakra. Sudarshan Chakra is visible to everyone.
Sudarshan Chakra is called as Sudarshan. What does it mean? It is very beautiful But it is beautiful for devotees. It is not for demons.
It is also Sudarshan for them. But what is Sudarshan? It is Sudarshan after their surgery. When they die, when they die in the hands of God, then they get relief from that death.
After that, they get Sudarshan. Then they get Sudarshan. So, whatever God does, it is for everyone’s welfare.
But how that welfare will be, depends on how we are dependent on it. When everyone sees Sudarshan Chakra, they think that we are very powerful. Who can do anything to us? So, when we see Sudarshan Chakra, we get scared.
And what happens at that time? When Madai attacks Nityanand, then Nityanand tries to kill him. Then Madai gets more confident and gets ready to attack again. And then Jagai sees it.
Actually, both of them are very cruel. They are very cruel. They are criminals.
But there, Jagai’s heart melts a little. He is such a great saint that even if he is attacked, he is neither rebelling nor running. Without any fear, without any anger, he still tries to kill him.
That’s why when Madai attacks again, Jagai stops him. And when Jagai stops him, then Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appears. Seeing Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, both Jagai and Madai get scared.
And Sudarshan Chakra is about to leave Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Jagai and Madai and when they see it, Nityanand Prabhu understands that they are angry because of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s love. And at the same time, Nityanand Prabhu also sees that Jagai and Madai are about to leave.
Sometimes what happens is when someone attacks us or does something bad to us, then what happens is if someone stronger than us comes, then we are happy. Now we will show you. So, Chaitanya Nityanand Prabhu has this feeling.
What is his feeling? How will he be happy? Now Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is very angry. So how to calm Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s anger? First of all, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says O Mahaprabhu, Jagai was about to kill me. Then Jagai stopped me.
So in reality, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu saved me. So, what is Nityanand Prabhu’s feeling here? He is not saying that Jagai killed me. If Jagai had killed me, then Chaitanya Mahaprabhu would have said something else.
But Jagai did not say that Jagai killed him. So Chaitanya Mahaprabhu stopped me. He protected me.
Now Chaitanya Mahaprabhu listens to this. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu calms down. He says O Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, you protected my sister.
I like you very much. So when Jagai sees this, then what happens? He was born in a Brahmin family. There was a religious environment.
They were doing Adharma. They knew the power of Vishnu. So immediately Jagai takes Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to his feet.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says Please forgive me. Please forgive me. When Chaitanya Mahaprabhu looks at Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, then he says that you saved my sister.
So I will give you my blessings. But Jagai forgives him. But Chaitanya Mahaprabhu does not forgive Jagai.
Then he comes to Nityanand Prabhu. He says O Prabhu, if you use weapons, then in Kalyug, everyone will be sinful in some way. You have to protect everyone.
In this Kalyug, you will use Swaraj Chakra. You did not come for that. Your incarnation will be here to protect Bhagwan and his name.
Through that, you will not destroy the sinful people. You will destroy the sins of the sinful people. So please forgive them.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says No. He has attacked you. He should be punished.
So the sin he has committed, he has to be punished. So now Nityanand Prabhu says that if I have done some good deeds, if I have done some bhakti, if I have never liked you, then in return of all those good deeds and bhakti, you forgive me for both of them. You forgive both of them.
So when Madhari and Jagai hear this, their hearts are filled with compassion. How kind of love is this that these people do not even know me. They are meeting me for the first time.
After meeting me for the first time, I have attacked them. Still, what is their feeling? Their feeling is that how can I do this? So their heart changes just by looking at me. And there are two things in heart change.
One is inspiration and the other is process. There is inspiration and process. So many times in our life such incidents occur and we experience something, we see something, we hear something.
At that time we feel that I have to change my life. At that time we get inspiration. This inspiration is very important.
But the inspiration is such that it does not stay for a long time. Inspiration comes and goes. A month ago, it was 9 years ago.
Now it is 9 years. So many people make new year resolutions. So some psychologists did research that when people make new year resolutions, so in that the year is new but the resolutions 95% of the time are not new.
Those who decide that this year I will do like this. So what are the 59%? The resolutions they made last year they return them. So what happened? Last year they made but it did not stay.
So inspiration is a good thing. But inspiration is such that it does not stay forever. So to maintain inspiration, process is needed.
What does process mean? It is a method by which we can maintain the path of change. We can change. So in this, Mahaprabhu blessed Nityanand Prabhu and seeing Nityanand Prabhu’s selfless love, the hearts of Jagai and Madhai changed.
They got inspiration. How are we living? I heard this from Bhagwan. I heard this from Bhagwan.
How are we living? They got inspiration to change. But that inspiration gave a beginning. What did they do after that? They accepted the process of Bhagwan’s kirtan.
So with inspiration we can change but it does not stay forever. If we want to maintain change, we need to use inspiration to follow a process. To follow a method by which our heart’s thoughts, feelings, desires and wishes change.
And that method is the method of bhakti. Especially in this Kalyug, the method of Harinaam. With this, our heart’s desires change slowly.
So Bhagwan is Param Mangal. Mangalanam Mangalebhyo Pavananam Pavanebhyo Everything is pure. And Bhagwan appears in the form of His name.
When He appears in the form of His name, when we chant the name of Bhagwan, then we are in contact with Bhagwan. And the way a cold thing comes in contact with a hot thing, then that cold thing becomes hot. In the same way, our impure consciousness comes in contact with Bhagwan’s pure name, then our consciousness makes it pure.
So, many times we hear many miracles in the shastras. So this is a miracle. Bhagwan can do miracles and Bhagwan has also done them.
But in reality, that miracle happens once and then it does not happen again. So, the biggest miracle of Bhagwan is not that Bhagwan Krishna lifted the Govardhan Mountain or Chaitanya Mahaprabhu showed Sudarshan Chakra. These are all miracles.
But the most important miracle of Bhagwan is that He gave us a miraculous process through which our heart can change. This is the most permanent benefit. This can be our biggest benefit.
And in this, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was N.I.T.A. He was adventurous. He was very brave. His intention was that if we have to serve Bhagwan, then we have to do it in such a way that Bhagwan’s glory increases a lot.
So, what happened? Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ordered N.I.T.A. to go home and tell everyone the message of Bhagwan. So, when they were going home, I have told you the story when Jagai Mithai was born. When they were going home, they saw that there was a big crowd and they were running away.
So, they asked, what is happening here? That’s when they came to know that Jagai Mithai was there. And Jagai Mithai was told by his followers. And usually, if a person is very bad, then what happens when we hear about him? We may get angry, upset or serious.
But, the more Jagai Mithai is told, the more their eyes get excited. What do they think? If these people help Jagai Mithai, then how much glory Chaitanya Mahaprabhu will spread? They think that Harinam’s glory was a lot, but when Ajamil was uplifted by Harinam, then Harinam’s glory increased a lot. Similarly, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu uplifted a lot of people.
But if Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Dwakin gives Harinam’s gift, and Jagai Mithai is uplifted by him, then his glory will increase even more. And in this way, what did he do? He made an important plan to uplift Jagai Mithai. When Jagai Mithai was with Haridas Thakur, Jagai Mithai said, we will give Harinam to Jagai Mithai in future.
Haridas Thakur said, there are so many people, you can give Harinam to everyone. Why should we give Harinam to Jagai Mithai? What will happen if we give Harinam to Jagai Mithai? Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s glory will spread. And the same Nityanand Bhav comes in another Leela also.
When they were in a village near Navdeep, they were living in their Niyay’s house called Hiranyapandit. Nityanand Bhav used to work in different ways, with divine Bhav. So, to attract people, he is in the form of an avadhut.
So, sometimes he used to do Vairagya Veshpooja, sometimes he used to wear many ornaments, like garlands, gold ornaments, diamonds etc. So, this dacoit used to say, we will take all these ornaments, we will steal them, then our life will be fulfilled. So, he heard this So, he went to other dacoits.
He asked them, who are these people? They said, they are called Nityanand Mahashay. He said, they are very big people. But, it is surprising that Hiranyapandit is not rich, he is living in a poor house.
So, he said, it will be easier for us. So, when he will go to sleep, we will go and steal them. So, they went there.
Nityanand is in the form of God. He is God. He knows everything.
So, he thought, if he will help these dacoits, it will be a miracle for Nityanand Mahashay. So, what happened? So, what did he do? He said, we will do Kirtan tonight. So, he gave Prasad to the devotees.
They kept on doing Kirtan. And, the dacoits were waiting outside. They said, when will he sleep? Now he will sleep.
He was sleeping. And then, while waiting for them to sleep, the dacoits slept. And then, the next day, they woke up.
In the morning, they heard the sound of roosters and birds. So, they woke up. What happened? They came to steal.
So, they went to their den. And then, they blamed each other. Why did you sleep? Why did you sleep first? Later, their leader said, we have committed so many robberies.
We have never slept before committing a robbery. How did you sleep today? They said, I don’t know. What happened? They said, we had given Pooja to Durga Devi.
So, now, we should give Pooja to Durga Devi before committing a robbery. So, Vedic Shastra tells about people’s robbery. There is a book named Chaurya Shastra.
I will tell you about how to commit a robbery. Now, robbery is not a good thing. But, some people are going to commit a robbery.
So, they say, if you are going to commit a robbery, at least, do some Pooja. This is a sin. So, do some good deeds.
So, they said, we had given Pooja to Durga Devi. So, Durga Devi got angry. So, we slept after that.
She didn’t think that we are committing a robbery. She thought that we had given Pooja to Durga Devi. So, she got angry.
She said, next time, we will do Pooja to Durga Devi. So, that evening, we did Pooja to Durga Devi. Then, they went there.
When they went there, they saw that there are guards there. There are guards at every door. They are so big.
They are so powerful. They said, one guard will kill all of us. There are many guards here.
They are different types of guards. They are so different types of guards that everyone is saying, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari. Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari.
We have never seen such guards. So, they saw the guards and went away from there. Where did they come from? One thief said, maybe, Nityanand must have known that we are here to rob.
That’s why he brought the guards. Nisha said, I heard that he is very intelligent. Maybe, he must have thought that he has so many precious things that he should have kept guards.
He said, actually, no. He has seen it. He doesn’t know that he has so many jewels.
So, his leader said, I know what has happened. Actually, I have seen that many big people come to meet Nityanand. Many rich people also come.
So, I think there must be a king and he must be the guard of the king. And Nityanand is such a big devotee that he is also a guard of Nityanand. Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari.
So, he said, let’s do this. Let’s wait for 10 days. The king must have come.
It won’t be more than 10 days. After 10 days, when we come, he must have gone. So, we will rob.
So, with this feeling, the thief came after 10 days. And after 10 days, he left his house. He thought that he will be safe again.
So, this time when he went, he took all the weapons with him. And when he went there, he came out of the house and immediately it was completely dark. There were stars, moon, everything.
Clouds, everything. It was completely dark. He was a little scared.
How will it be completely dark? And when he was going, when he reached near the house, then one by one, it was completely dark from outside. He could not see anything with his own eyes. He could not see anything.
There were pits in front of him. Everything fell in the pit. And in the pit, there were some insects.
They started biting him. They started screaming. What is happening? And they were trying to get him out.
The pit was so big that no one was able to get out. And when all this was happening, then his leader started thinking. What is happening? And when he tried twice to steal, but he could not.
After that, he was doing a lot of research on Nityanand Prabhu. What kind of a person is he? How did he become a king? He was doing research from a distance. But he was thinking a lot about Nityanand Prabhu.
And then, when all this happened, he understood that Nityanand Prabhu is not an ordinary person. He is a very great person. And because he is a great person, we have to commit a crime against him.
That’s why what happened? That’s why I am in such a situation. So, he was in the darkness. There was darkness from outside as well as in his eyes.
But still, he was praying there. He is Nityanand Mahashay. You are the heir of God.
You are the heir of everyone. I have committed a big crime against you. I have committed a big crime against you.
Instead of asking for your blessings, I have come to attack you. Please forgive me. Please take my blessings.
And in this way, when he started praying to God, what happened? Darkness came. And all the insects were biting him. I don’t know where he went.
And he came out. And the rest of the thieves ran away. And the chief of the thieves said, how did this miracle happen? In a way, we were trapped.
And we were trapped, but suddenly we were released. That this is the grace of Nityanand Prabhu. And immediately, Nityanand Prabhu went to Hiranyak Pandita’s house.
So, everyone was praying there. And this thief, he looked like a thief, he looked very dangerous. So, seeing him, everyone was in awe.
Kirtan was going on, but everyone was in awe. When everyone was in awe, he came straight and started chanting Nityanand Prabhu. I said, O Prabhu, I have come to understand your greatness.
I have been saved by your grace. And you give me grace. And, I have been saved by your grace.
And you give me grace. When Nityanand Prabhu heard this, he said, I will give you grace, but you have to do one thing. As you have been given grace, you have to give grace to everyone.
Now, you were a dacoit. What should you do? Go and identify the rest of the dacoits. So, there is a youth preaching unit, boys preaching unit, girls preaching unit, children preaching unit.
You are a dacoit preaching unit. You are a group of dacoits. You are a group of dacoits.
You are a group of dacoits. And then, because he was the head of the dacoits, he had a lot of influence. And everyone saw how he changed.
And the influence of his influence made them dacoits. And because of that influence, he started turning them into dacoits. And after that, there were many incidents like this.
They were conducting kirtan there. And in between, men were coming. And straight, some one was going to attack.
He would come in front of Nityanand Prabhu And in this way, what did Lord Ittyanand do? He gave birth to so many people. And how did he do it? When he first saw the dacoits, he thought that if he wanted Lord Ittyanand, then he didn’t even need to wear that ornament. But what he thought was that different types of people will be attracted to this ornament.
And when they come, I will give birth to them. So, when we wear the ornament, what do we do? We want to show ourselves how beautiful we are. But what was Lord Ittyanand’s intention? He wanted to attract the people who were attracted to this ornament towards God.
And in this way, his preaching strategy was very unconventional. He used to preach in a very unconventional way. And in this way, he gave birth to so many people.
It has been told that Lord Ittyanand, Lord Chaitanya came to this world from a spiritual world full of love. And Lord Ittyanand blessed everyone with that love. And then, the N-I-T-T-A-I.
The I is intimate. Intimate means very intimate. Lord Ittyanand is the Guru Tattva.
Krishna is God. And the one who goes to God is the Guru. So, Guru is a person in a way.
And Guru is a Tattva in a way. So, in our life, we get knowledge from him also. He is our Guru in a way.
But the Guru in our life is actually the representative of the Supreme Guru, God. He is in the form of a representative. So, Lord Ittyanand is Balramji.
When Lord Ittyanand plays the role of Guru, he gives the responsibility of Guru to Lord Ittyanand or Balramji. He is called the Guru Tattva. So, the God who is in our heart, in the form of Chaita Guru, Chaita Guru who is in the form of God, He is very close to us.
We are very close to Him. He is in our heart. He is very close to us.
A person loves us a lot. He embraces us with love. So, that person cannot be as close to us as God is close to us.
And God is not only close to us now, but He is always close to us. A person can love us a lot, but if we do bad things to them, if we don’t behave well with them, then what happens? They will leave us. But no matter what we do, God will never leave us in the form of God.
We don’t have that power. We do not have the power to do anything that can make God stop loving us. We don’t have the power to do anything.
No matter how bad we do, God will never stop loving us. God will never leave us in the form of God. God is always in our heart.
माजुप्रपंद्विशुपाशन्मोक्षनाय मुक्ताय भूरिकरुणाय नमो दयाय Muktaya. God is free. God lives in the spiritual world.
He doesn’t need to come to this material world. But still, भूरिकरुणाय He has a lot of compassion. That’s why He comes to this world.
And He loves us a lot. So, if we don’t look at God, then we feel that God is very far away. Krishna is close to us, but we are far away from Him.
God is very close to us, but we are very far away from God. Why? Because we are not looking at God. God is close to us, but we are looking in the opposite direction.
So, we don’t see God. But still, God is close to us. And, when we do bhakti, what happens? When we turn away from God, we are taking God’s name every time, we are listening to God’s story.
So, what happens? When we turn away from God, we are getting closer to Him. सेवोन्पुखे जिवादो स्वयं एवस्पुरद्याद The more we serve God, what happens? God appears in our life. We feel God.
And, the more we feel God, the more our life changes. Let me end with an example. What does it mean to feel God? How do we feel God? If we do a lot of progress, we can even see God in person.
But, at the present level, what are we? We, as I told you earlier, there is a small child, he still doesn’t understand anything. When the child is born, he doesn’t know anything. He is crying.
And, when the mother gives birth, he doesn’t even know that there is a person here, she is my mother, she is giving me milk. He thinks, something good is coming from here, I will drink it. Gradually, when he grows up, he understands that where is this milk coming from? Actually, there is a person here, he loves that person.
Gradually, when he grows up, he understands that there is someone else who is taking care of him. Let’s say, there is a small child, he is sleeping at night. And, he is shivering So, when the mother sees that he is shivering because of the cold, then, what does the mother do? She takes a shawl and puts it on him.
Now, the child is sleeping, his eyes are closed. He hasn’t seen that the mother is here and she has put a shawl on him. What does he feel? First, he feels cold, now, he feels relief.
So, now, he feels only that he was cold, now, he feels relief. Gradually, when the child grows up, even though he hasn’t opened his eyes, but still, when he feels relief from the cold, he understands that his mother has come and has put a shawl on him. Now, his eyes are not open, but what did he feel? He felt relief from the cold.
With that experience, he understood that his mother is here and has put a shawl on him. His mother loves him. Similarly, now, his eyes are closed.
Now, he is sleeping in ignorance. He is sleeping. Now, when he is sleeping, he can’t see God.
God is close to him, but he can’t see God. But still, when we face different kinds of problems in this world, we get worried, we get excited, we get distracted. At that time, if we remember God, if we concentrate on God, if we listen to God’s story, if we worship God, then what happens? We get relief.
The mind which is distracted, becomes peaceful. Just like a child, when he feels cold, he gets relief. He doesn’t understand how he gets relief.
His eyes are closed, but he understands that his mother loves him. Similarly, when we remember God, we get relief from our worries. Our excited mind becomes peaceful.
So, we can understand why this is happening. God is present here and because of God’s presence, my mind becomes peaceful. In this way, we can’t see God, but with our intellect, we can understand God’s presence with God’s grace.
And in this way, we can improve our devotion. Just like a child when he grows up, he can see his mother. Similarly, when we improve our devotion, we will be attracted to God.
In this way, we can see God. And in this way, we can see God. But now, when we see God, the vision of God is not as important as the experience of God.
Whether we see God or not, the experience of God we can experience even now in any situation. And since Sanatan time, the method of devotion is able to give the experience of God. वक्ति परेशानभव विरक्तिर्ण्यति What is the method of devotion? परईश अनुभव How can we experience the divine God? With devotion.
To experience Him, the method of devotion is always able. But the grace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is that He has made that method very easy. He has made it very fast.
Very easily and very fast He has worked in our life. And we can experience the change in our life, the experience of God, the happiness of the day, the peace at a very high level. We can feel all this very easily with the grace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
And in this way, with self-confidence, we can be attracted to devotion. Therefore, Prabhupada ji is the representative of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And the grace he gave to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he spread it all over the world.
And by His grace, today we can understand the greatness of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and accept His grace. So, we can pray to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His representative, Prabhupada ji, that all of us, who are small children, we should progress at least at our intellectual level and we should understand the language of devotion. Instead of asking what God is doing, we should serve God.
What will happen with this? We will serve God. And whatever situation or problem may arise, whether that problem goes away or not, our mind will become peaceful. And we will be able to solve that problem.
So, this is the grace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Machchitta Sarva Durgaayi Man Prasadat. If we start in Bhagavad Chaitanya, we can overcome any problem.
So, if we start in Bhagavad Chaitanya, here, we are given His Sadhana, and His method and procedure. And if we accept that process, then for that, we can do His grace.
