of our heart towards Krishna.
Thank you. In this section of the Srimad Bhagavatam, Narada Muni is pointing out to Vyasadeva how his description of Upadharma subordinate religious principles will not only not lead people to the highest destination but will distract them from that highest destination and in that connection he describes that he says that just as a boat that does not have a anchor or a resting place is shaken and thrown by the raging wind similarly when we when our mind is not connected with Krishna then whatever we read, hear, discuss that simply agitates our mind further so all of us we sometimes feel fed up by our mind we feel that we want to just calm down be peaceful but our mind with its endless anxieties and desire just doesn’t allow us to calm down and quite often the reason for that restlessness of the mind is that we have exposed ourselves to the stimuli that are disconnected with Krishna and naturally because these do not offer us any lasting stability or peace because none of the things apart from Krishna are actually lasting or stable so naturally we feel agitated so the chanting of the holy names is the only time when we can undistractedly exclusively fix our mind on Krishna and at least for this time we can give our mind the opportunity to stay fixed in meditation on Krishna to just like if we want a boat to stop getting agitated by the waves we need to find an anchor for it and of course we can hope that the winds will stop similarly we need to give our mind the anchor of Krishna by which the mind will stop becoming so restless at the inevitable ups and downs that the world is going to throw at us so by contemplating how this chanting is the opportunity for us to give the basis for stability for our mind we can resist the mind’s default tendencies to run in here and there and especially to not dwell on worldly thoughts and worldly stimuli at least during chanting because if the boat is exposed to the wind then even fastening the anchor on the boat will become very difficult but similarly if even while chanting we are letting ourselves dwell on material thoughts then how can that restless mind become anchored to Krishna so at least at the time of chanting we recognize this if ever there is going to be peace and stability for us internally it will come only by anchoring ourselves to Krishna and the only time we actually get to solidly anchor ourselves to Krishna is during chanting so at least at this time we need to let the mind be free from the winds that will not allow us to chain the mind to Krishna and by meditating firmly that let these winds stop let me not think about anything else let me just focus on anchoring the mind to Krishna we will get a new fillip to our willpower to absorb ourselves in the holy name by chanting Thank You
