Thank you Shri Madhavati 5.11.13 Shetragya Atma Purusha Purana Sakshat Swayam Jyoti Rajah Pareshah Narayo Bhagwan Vasudeva Swamaya Atmani Avadhiyamanah So here Chidbharat is describing the characteristics of the Supreme Lord. He is the knower of all fields.
Atma. Atma means that which is pervasive. So that we can refer to that which pervades the body or that which pervades all of existence.
Atma Purushaha Purana. He is the supreme person and he is the original cause of all of creation. Sakshat.
So Prabhupada explains Sakshat to be perceivable. Perceivable how? Initially the Lord is perceived by hearing from scriptures and then as we live according to scriptures, then the Lord becomes perceivable to even our direct perception. So there is Karan Pratyaksha, sensual Pratyaksha, but there is a Divya Pratyaksha.
It’s like Dhruv Maharaj after Dhruv meditation saw the Lord directly. Narakuni also saw the Lord directly. So like that the Lord, it’s possible that he can be Sakshat, perceivable.
Swayamjyoti Rajah Parishah. So he is Swayamjyoti. He is actually self-effulgent, self-revealing.
Just as we do not need a torch to see the sun, similarly we do not need anything immaterial or anything other than the Lord to know the Lord. The Lord is self-revealing, self-effulgent. Rajah Parishah is unborn and he is always a transcendental controller.
And Narayana Bhagavan Vasudeva. He is Narayana. He is the shelter of all living beings, all Naras.
He is the Lord of Vaikuntha. He is possessing all the six opulences. He is all-pervading as Vasudeva.
He is also the Lord of Mathura and Vrindavan. That is also a name of, means Vasudeva. So Vasudeva can mean one who is the son of Vasudeva and one who is also all-pervading.
And then, So means, to become. He is existing as the controller. By his own potency, Atmani.
Atmani, Prabhupada explains, it can refer to his own self or it can refer to the living entities. So the Lord is present as a super-soul in our hearts and he still remains avadhiyamanaha, still controller. How? Because when he is present as a super-soul, he is present by his svamayaya, by his own energy.
Lord doesn’t come under control of his energy and that’s how he remains accessible to us. So when we practice mantra meditation, it is helpful to remember the supreme position of the Lord. And that inspires and enables us to take shelter of him through his sound vibrations.
So the same person whom we are calling out by remembering and chanting his names, that person is present in our own heart. That person is the Lord of the spiritual world. That person is self-revealing, satsang and jyotir.
So although at this stage, the uttering of the holy names may seem just like an ordinary sound vibration, but through our regular service attitude, the Lord will become manifest. All that we need to do is keep persevering consistently, repeatedly, determinedly. If we keep persevering in our contemplation of the Supreme Lord, then the Lord reveals himself in reciprocation to our sincere contemplation and he enables us to perceive him as the ultimate reality.
So svamayaatman avadhiyamanaha, he is the controller of maya, he reveals himself. And meditating on the transcendental attributes of the Supreme Lord, inspires us to keep connecting with him through meditation and to seek his endearing self-revelation, upon which, one gaining which, we fall permanently and irreversibly and eternally in love with him. Thank you.
