Thank you. Hare Krishna.
In terms of how we experience the world, it is sensations, colour, taste, fragrance, beauty and emotions, joy, distress, anger, peace. This is what is the lived world for us. But science cannot provide us a love-o-meter or a trust-o-meter because it focuses on quantifying the parameters.
But love, trust is the emotion that affects the quality of our life hugely. So then I elaborated this model by talking about the thought experiment of how there is outer sea, inner screen and inner seal. So we are affected much more by what appears on our inner screen than what is on the outer sea.
So science improves whatever appears on the outer sea. So technology has so much control and facility. But we need spirituality to improve ourselves internally.
Improving ourselves internally means two things. One is understanding that I am different from the inner screen. And second is changing what appears on the inner screen.
So my spiritual practice is, even in this model we understand depression is caused when the inner screen becomes like a movie showing a tragic movie of our past bad things. And fear is caused, anxiety is caused by the inner screen becoming like a TV showing a horror story of our future. But if you understand, these are just movies.
We don’t have any reality right now. We may have to live with pain, but we don’t have to live in pain. And I conclude it by talking about the story of my friend who was caught in Hurricane Arama.
But he rose above, he saved because he rose to a higher floor in the attic. Similarly for us, storms may come in terms of outer situations or in terms of inner emotions. But if we rise to spiritual consciousness, understanding our inner seers, then we can stay steady amidst whatever happens at the level of situations or emotions.
So science can improve the things in the outer world. Spirituality can improve the thoughts in our inner world.
