Thank you very much. So, what happens to the soul when it is liberated from the material world? What kind of happiness does it get which it does not get here? Well, three things, Sat, Chit, Ananda.
The soul is able to express its nature and environment which is compatible with nature. The soul has Sat, its existence endures, enduring existence. Chit, the soul is aware, awareness is much more broader, it is more aware of things, unlike being deluded in this world.
And Ananda, the soul finds the happiness of enduring enlightened love. So, while love is present in this world also and so is happiness, neither is the love enduring nor is it enlightened, nor is it wise. That means love doesn’t last and often love makes us do unwise things.
So, because the post liberated stage is a stage which is free from the temporary nature of the world, from the influence of the illusory energy which undermines or sabotages the soul’s capacity for perception, Chit. And because the pleasures in this world are short-lived, that’s why in comparison whatever pleasure might be there in the world, in this world, pales in comparison to what will be found in the spiritual world. In general, the most important thing is that we are free from the selfishness, the self-centeredness that sabotages our attempts for happiness and sabotages our relationships.
So, more than that being a place of happiness, rather the process of going to that place helps us undergo a transformation by which when we get to that place, we will naturally be able to relish its happiness. It’s like if somebody goes to a beautiful hillside resort, but if they are a drug addict, the hillside resort is a much more beautiful and enjoyable place than say a crowded metropolitan city. But as long as they have this drug addiction, they will be craving for drugs over there also.
So, the spiritual world is a place of happiness, not just because or in the spiritual world we find happiness, not just because it is a place of happiness, but because going to that place requires us to follow a process that purges us of the things within us that sentence us to unhappiness. And that is why attaining the spiritual world is not just a destination, it’s a progression and it’s not just going to a particular place, but also attaining a particular level of consciousness. And we will see that our, if not happiness from a moment to moment basis, but our overall level of happiness increases as we steadily practice spirituality and become increasingly free from the control of our selfish drives.
